Hotel San Rocco

Terrible experience the room was dirty and damp, floor by door rotten. The whole hotel was dismal they said it was an eighties vibe but obviously nothing has been updated since then . The bar was soulless no soft furnishings or plants cold tiles. Poor night sleep due to room being damp. The restaurant staff unhelpful unwelcoming when we asked to take a look at the restaurant with view to see if we wanted to eat there. We didn't. We did ask to move rooms which they did accomadate it was slightly better. It was supposed to be a special holiday. We were so disappointed. Breakfast basic, and again the lady that was serving was in welcoming and chewing gum! The whole place needs a make over, staff moral and standards need much improvement. I wrote an email to the manager with my concerns , they haven't bothered to reply. I think they rely on the location

The room we were given was small. The bed took most of the space. No space to move around. No hooks for the coats, no place to store the suitcase, the hangers in the small wardrobe were so high, you had ro use a metal rod with a hook at the end to reach them. The shower cubicle was also small. Price for this room 218 euro per night! A trolley with used towels was left in the corridor for a few days. And this is a 4* hotel!. I complained and they offered an upgrade, the night before we left! We were there for 3 nights. On the positive, the staff was very friendly, the bistro by the lake very pleasant offering good stuff for lunch and the position of the hotel excellent. The balcony and the view from the room very pleasant. We would nt go back though

Looked nice to start with but all went down hill. The aircon in our room didn’t work; there were leaks on the roof and a dripping after the rain. Reported to staff multiple times and they repeatedly said they had sent engineers in and it was ‘now fixed’ which it wasn’t, they knew they were lying. Nearly 30 degrees in a room was horrible, they eventually shifted us at 11:30pm to another room as if it was a ‘privilidge’. Awful sleep / experience and I would have happily left 2-3 stars had the staff acknowledged any of my complaints after the event. I also accidentally left my wedding suit there, I ordered a courier and paid for the dimensions of a suit. The hotel staff took the suit off my hanger, stuffed it into a tiny package (horrible creases for the wedding). Such disregard for hospitality.

The location of Hotel San Rocco is truly outstanding — right on the lake, with easy access both to the water for swimming and relaxing, as well as to the village for dining and exploring. This combination makes it an ideal base for enjoying Orta San Giulio. The hotel offers all the expected amenities, and the pool is a real highlight, especially in warmer weather. Service is decent, and overall the experience matches what you would expect from a solid 3–4 star property. A comfortable and well-situated option for a stay in Lake Orta.

The location is perfect on Lake Orta. Rooms are nice but there is no climate control in your room (except by some mysterious function of the management) except opening the doors to your very small patio, and no screens. The gecko didn't bother me, but the bee did. I am sensitive to mold, and there was mold in room 223. If you travel with a group, the bus drops you in a parking lot, you climb up to road grade and take a small train to access the drop point and then walk down to the hotel. Nice, but very slippery when wet and steep. Not lit at night. It is very difficult going up. Lovely bar, prices higher than some. Food at breakfast was excellent. Dinners they provided were well prepared and served. The manager, Jessica, was lovely and tried to help providing a large fan, but it never got cooler in our room until the outside temp dropped below 50F and I broke down and opened the patio door. Not a good match for me, but if you are a hiker and very steady on your feet this location is magical.
