Hotel Simplon

The hotel is situated on quite a busy road, less than a 5 minute stroll down to the lake front in Baveno. Check in was straight forward, the staff very welcoming and helpful. Unfortunately our room was along z long corridor in a wing away from the main part of the hotel. There is no lift in this wing, but the porters happily delivered our suitcases to the door (and collected them again at the end of our stay). Our room was large and comfortable, with a small side view of the lake and mountains. There is an ipad giving information about the hotel, a TV (not used) and a safe, but no tea/coffee making facilities, luckily we had brought our own. The furniture was rather dated but perfectly serviceable. The bathroom presented a couple of problems, though - the shower (in the bath) leaked badly under the screen which meant we had to do a lot of mopping up each day, and the quick flush on the toilet didn't work so a bit wasteful having to do a full flush every time. Breakfasts were very good with a wide selection of cooked and cold items, cakes and pastries. We didn't eat lunch or dinner in the restaurant but the menu looked good. All in all, an enjoyable stay, but if returning I think we'd opt to upgrade to a room on a higher floor with a better view of the lake.

Lovely hotel, very grand. Pool was lovely and bar area. The restaurant where breakfast is served is very nice and the evening dinner was good also. The bedroom was large enough for comfort and lots of storage. The staff everywhere were friendly and very helpful, they couldn’t do enough for you. Fredrick in the bar was especially attentive and was happy to help with anything. The cleaners cleaned immaculately every day, the hotel was spotless. Well done Hotel Simplon

We spent two nights here while on a TRAFALGAR bus tour 2 weeks ago. Beautiful hotel, outdoor area gardens also were in excellent condition. Food, bar, and staff were great. A group of 35 sat on the deck outside the bar area after dinner enjoying coffee and drinks. Take a walk in the tunnels on the lower floor which will bring you to the Grand Hotel down the street. I believe both hotels are owned by the same folks. Highly recommend this Hotel.

Great hotel! Clean rooms and common areas, friendly staff, close proximity to wonderful restaurants and the lake. The food in the hotel restaurant is wonderful! There are even gluten free options for diners. The rooms are well appointed with linens and furnishings.

The hotel in beautifully decorated with a stained glass ceiling in the foyer. Only a 15 minute walk to the lake. The hotel is joined to its sister hotel, The Deano by a tunnel. A walk through the tunnel to view all the art work is a definite must. Staff are all friendly and helpful. An outdoor eating area is adjacent to the outdoor pool, as is the large bar, which also serves 'bites' All in all a very pleasant stay. The buffet breakfast was not wonderful, and members of our tour, staying overnight, were separated from the other resident guests Cannesdid .... surfingsyd
