Whilst the hotel is five stars on the surface, with lovely interior and exterior spaces, the service let it down significantly. It didn’t feel that there was any level of supervision by more experienced, senior members of staff. This was especially true at the buffet. With a young baby of 6 months old, I understood that weaning purées would be available yet had to ask every meal time for food of which many servers were not aware existed/ I was consistently offered “fruit puree”. In the end I gave up and made my own food from the limited buffet. The other point to make is that, whilst the hotel has clearly been renovated there are not enough staff members to maintain a high quality atmosphere. Pool toilets were frequently dirty, the disabled loo door was broken in both the pool area and the kids pool. It is these small touches that are noticed when staying in a 5 star. One day it rained, and rain was pouring from the ceiling in the main eatery where the buffet is served. This caused me to trip with a hot coffee in my hand. That said; the bar tenders at The Shack were fantastic and offered a high level of service. The optional activities were also a really lovely touch, and those working in the kids area were great. The aqua class instructors were also fantastic and so enthusiastic EVERY class. With a few amendments, it would be a place I would recommend. But it isn’t quite at 5 star level yet.

The hotel and the beaches are nice and wroth the 5 stars. The food deserves 3 stars at best, all the specific restaurants have the same food as the buffet but in a different form. The service is slow.

Great quality of hotel as expected for the brand. Smooth check-in with bags taken to the room for you, door key is within bracket (it doesn't look like a usual all inclusive bracket instead something I would be happy wearing all the time). My nearly 2 year old was made to feel so welcome with the own wash kit bits in the bathroom and toddler sized ones folded in her cot on arrival. Excellent allergy awareness and signs, gluten free breakfast corner with dedicated toaster. Some menu items say contain gluten but if you ask they can make the burgers, pizza, pasta, taco gluten free. Italian restaurant really lovely, we went back again. Booked on the app the day before with no issues. Kids club really friendly, our daughter was to young to attend technically but they allowed us to stay with her so she could join in all the activities. They were inclusive and adapted the activities for the child's ability Adult activities included craft workshops, make sure you book on early via the WhatsApp text number. The timings were alongside the kids club so if you have a child of the right age, they can go to the kids club while you do a craft workshop Free trips out in form of vouchers for entry was a nice touch It is worth hiring a car from the airport, very easy to collect/drop off. Bell boys still collected suitcases from the car and helped us out them back in at the end of our holiday. Plenty of on street free parking by the hotel. It gave us the freedom to explore as no transport other than a taxi is available from the hotel - although there is a bus to the Oasis wildlife park daily. Will definitely continue using melia brand for future holidays

What amazing service, had room service delivered by Mark and couldn’t have asked for better service! Thanks so much. Only on our first day here but already so impressed. We are circle members and it’s service like this that reminds us why we keep coming back. The hotel is stunning.

Fabulous location the views and beach are spectacular. We came for the kite surfing. Nice spacious room, view overlooking the road but was quiet. We enjoyed the Gastro hall food and found the food generally of a high standard. Bit limited as we are pescatarian. We didn't enjoy the Restaurant Kanna as service too slow. Mahos restaurant was pretentious and the food not worthy of all the hype. We waited 30 minutes for our drinks. We went twice and both times exactly the same. Many of the Bali beds have broken back rests. As a no smoking hotel , this isn't what is practised. No seating outside for non smokers. Outside the Ginger bar was just full of smokers. Many guests smoking around the swimming pool and staff walking past them ignoring this. The floor is covered in cigarette butts. Long queue for drinks at the Shack and Ginger bar, having to wait 30 minutes for a drink day and night is not acceptable for a 5 * hotel. Breakfast outside was not possible due to the number of pigeons scavenging for food. The tables and chairs are covered in pigeon poop!
