Barcelo Margaritas

We came here 3 years ago and had a lovely experience. It has very much gone down hill since then would not recommend. The food on arrival was nothing short of horrific, granted it was 10pm but still it looked like yesterdays leftovers. You now get told you can't vape while relaxing on you sun chair, you have to go and stand with the real smokers and end up smelling like you used to which is one of the reasons I stopped, BTW this is the 3rd holiday ive been on this year and everywhere else is completely relaxed. Finally bearing in mind this is our second day here this time around and will definitely be our last visit. I just came back from the supermarket over the road from the hotel with a ring for my daughter to have fun with in the pool she is 7 so when buying i avoided the baby rings as she has outgrow them now. Anyway I got the next size up a size I will call normal but on arrival to the pool before I could even show my daughter what I had bought her the life gard was quick to kill any joy she might of had with it by informing us we can't use that in the pool? I hope this rant is useful to someone as the hotel has lost its identity which is a shame as like is said in the title it used to be great. There are so many better hotels for the money you pay to come here so AVOID and have a fantastic holiday somewhere else. End of rant.

After staying at other Barcelo / occidental hotels we thought we would try Gran Canaria and as always we wasnt disappointed. We upgraded to all inclusive when we got there and it was worth every penny. Branded drinks , self service cold drinks and slushes. The food was brilliant always fresh fruit and salad and plenty of options . The snack bar pool side wasnt really for us but again plentiful . Icecreams available and love the 24 hour snack idea too !! The rooms were sufficient with comfy beds , soap , shampoo and conditioner and hair dryer all free of charge and balcony overlooking pool was good too. The pool towels can be changed daily so were alwasy fresh .The hotel was spotless clean and sunbeds and pool sides washed down. We loved the fact no one was rushing for sunbeds and if towels were left they stuck to their rules and removed them !!! Reception staff were knowledgeable, approachable and always friendly. They provided us a time slot on the last day free of charge to shower before our late flight which was a nice touch. Regarding entertainment there was always something going on but wasnt too in your face or over powerful. The top pool was quieter . The entertainment in the evening was adequate but not brilliant and literally started at 9 and done by 10 !! This would be our only let down as once finished everyone moves to the downstairs bar and there wasnt enough seating!? Location is a bit out of town but again the free shuttle is excellent and a few little supermarkets and shops you can walk too. Great for bus stations to get around the island too. Would we return .. yes absolutely. Thanks for a wonderful summer holiday in the extensive heat , the air conditioning was just perfect 👌

Poor food, went for all inclusive as thought it would be ok for the kids we couldn’t even eat lunch or dinner we had to eat out it was just awful rotated food made us ill. Not the cleanest and reception staff not friendly. Animation team were fantastic and worked really hard every day by the pool. Would not recommend it is NOT a 4 star more like 2 star

We’ve just come back from an amazing stay at Margaritas in Gran Canaria and honestly, we had the best time! We’d definitely recommend this hotel and would happily stay again. The rooms were so big, comfy and clean. They were cleaned every day and we were always given fresh towels whenever we needed them, which was brilliant. The pools were lovely and a great size. They could do with a little bit of maintenance in places as some of the pool floor was broken, but it honestly didn’t affect our holiday at all. We went in August, so obviously the hotel was very busy and full, and the sun loungers around the pool filled up pretty quickly. That said, we could always find somewhere to sit, so it wasn’t an issue for us. The bar was brilliant too! There was a massive choice of drinks, the hotel wine was actually really nice, and you could even get cava by the glass included! There were loads of soft drinks for the kids as well as slushies, which went down very well! The snack bar was another big hit. You could get food there all day from around 11am–6pm if you didn’t fancy eating in the main buffet restaurant. There was a really good choice for kids – chips, hot dogs, burgers etc., and you could even make your own toasties. There were also healthier options like rice, salads, fruit and pasta, so there really was something for everyone. And honestly, I do not understand how anyone can complain about the food here! 😂 The selection was massive! Breakfast was amazing – cooked breakfast, continental options, cereals, toast, yoghurts, croissants… everything you could possibly expect. Lunch and dinner were just as good. You could eat really healthily or completely indulge – the choice was huge! Every evening had a different theme too, so there was always something different to try. The salad bar was fantastic with so much choice, and they had freshly cooked fish and meat every day, as well as paella. We never found the food to be cold, apart from the obvious cold salad options. Everything felt fresh and there was such a huge variety that I honestly can’t see how anyone would struggle to find something they liked. The animation team were fantastic and made such an effort with everyone. There were loads of games and activities around the pool during the day for both adults and kids, and the kids absolutely loved getting involved. A special shout-out to Odil and Alejandro, who my kids especially loved and spent loads of time with. They were so much fun and really made the holiday for them! Our only little negative would be that we felt the evening entertainment finished a bit early, as we would have happily stayed and watched more. So everyone made their way down to the other pool bar so it was a struggle to get seating. Overall though, we had such a brilliant holiday. The hotel, food, drinks, activities and animation team were all fantastic, and we honestly couldn’t fault the experience for the price. We had the best time and would 100% recommend Margaritas! ❤️☀️🍹

Had an absolute best holiday at Barceló margaritas (we didn’t stay in the royal level as this is adults only) We had an 11 night stay in August. We never had to queue for sunbeds as they were always plenty. Lots of daytime activities take place on the lower level pool but if you want to just relax then there’s another pool up the stairs where it’s a bit more quiet. We preferred to either lay in the day beds which were also always free and watch the activities or go to the top pool. The food was lovely too, plenty of options available and they do different cuisines each night. A few nights they also had a live singer which was lovely. All staff from reception, entertainment, chefs and waiters and cleaners were always very friendly and helpful. Our room was cleaned daily we were never short of fresh towels. They also provide you with sunbed towels which are great! There’s a free bus shuttle service throughout the day which takes you to playa de ingles beach. We went on a few day trips and asked the reception staff to order us a taxi and it was always there within 5 minutes. The evening entertainment was enjoyable, my daughter enjoyed doing the quiz, they had singers, tribute acts and acrobatics. Overall we had a great experience at Barceló margaritas and would definitely return. Thanks to all the staff for making our family holiday one to remember!
