Hotel Costa Calero Thalasso & Spa

Just returned from a lovely relaxing week to re charge my batteries. We (myself & family) have previously visited for the last 6 years either as a family or on my own. We have always stayed prestige as we feel it’s worth the extra, but unfortunately now I’m only able to come on my own due to prestige being over 18s. This time I had a ground floor pool room which I requested in the main hotel building and with a bath, I was given the room next to the prestige lounge which was perfect for me as I didn’t have far to walk as I’m waiting on a new knee. My days were lovely and relaxing started of with an early morning swim around 7am, then visited the spa everyday which I do love as the jets really help my arthritis, then late afternoon my bingo which I always find entertaining. It’s so lovely to see so many familiar faces from the entertainment staff, to waiters, cleaners, receptionists. Food is plentiful and I always find something to eat the best meal of the day was an always breakfast with the omelettes especially if made by Sergio. Drinks were plentiful although at the pool bar the top brands vodka seemed to disappear when they were empty they never get replaced, this happened when we were here last year too. I treated myself to a relaxing massage this year which was wonderful the perfect hour of relaxation. The hotel bus to PDC was great usually we hire a car so never needed to use it, it was perfect to enable me to get some supplies and meet up with a friend who was staying in Costa Teguise. All in all a great week and hoping to return next year as another relaxing week to myself if the price becomes right.

We recently went to this hotel on an All-Inclusive holiday for 7 nights. We’ve never been to Lanzarote before, but have had the area recommended to us and this hotel recommended by our travel agent. The hotel is located in the Puerto Calero area, a quiet place that is as welcoming as it is beautiful. The marina just down from the hotel is great for a walk in both the day and the evening, and has plenty of restaurants on offer, as well as a biweekly market. The resort is a lovely spot, it’s not huge but also is not too small, with a nice buffet restaurant for the breakfast and evening meals and a lovely pool bar area for lunch. There are plenty of areas to relax throughout the day by any of the pools in the hotel, and in the evening there is both the entertainment area and the piano bar that are great for relaxing and seeing the entertainment on offer. There is some variety in the entertainment on offer, including a magic show and an 80’s music evening, although we found that the entertainment could sometimes fall a little flat/cringey. The pool areas could use some TLC, but this is mainly just a few areas requiring a coat of paint and some tiles needing replacement in the pools, especially in the section between the upper and lower pools. The pool bar is also only open 12-6:30 daily - we felt this was a bit restrictive, and would be better if it was open at 11am instead, which would follow nicely on from breakfast. The animation team are also good, they are all very friendly and put on plenty of activities throughout the day which are enjoyable to partake in, such as bingo and archery. They are also very positive and smiley, building on the great vibe. The food here is great, it’s tasty and varied with different cuisines throughout the week, such as an Asian food evening on one evening. There is a show cooking area that functions as an omelette station for breakfast and a pasta station for dinner. The food can sometimes be a little samey, although really how much variety can you provide at breakfast besides cooked and continental foods? We did find food at all three meals that would be enjoyable by everyone, including foodies such as ourselves. When we arrived on the first evening there was also some food put out for us to have a bite before we went to bed, which was a nice touch. The spa is also great at this hotel, while there we took advantage of the 2-hour entry voucher we had along with getting a couples’ massage. This whole experience alongside the masseuses was great and we really enjoyed the day we spent at the spa. The room at the hotel was amazing. We did not experience any ant issues as previous reviews have mentioned, but we were on the 5th floor so this will have mitigated that. The room was very spacious and clean with daily housekeeping provided where required. The housekeeper (Chiara) was incredible, checking on us as we walked past on days we did not want the room cleaning to make sure we didn’t need any extra water or tea/coffee supplies for the room, and these were replenished when she cleaned the room too. The sea view from our room was gorgeous and we had a lovely time watching the boats and birds go about their day. The hotel also runs a daily shuttle to Puerto del Carmen a few times per day, and we enjoyed using this to explore the local area. While there we also went to Lanzarote Bike which is located in the garage of the hotel, and went on an E-MTB tour with them which was the highlight of our holiday. We also took our bikes back out solo later in the day and had an amazing time exploring other parts of the island. We can’t recommend Lanzarote Bike enough to anyone staying here or nearby. In short, this holiday was beautiful. There are some things that the hotel can improve upon which is reflected in the 4-star review, but overall we would still recommend it to anyone thinking of staying in Lanzarote. If you’d like a lovely holiday in a nice quiet spot with easy access to more lively areas then this is the place for you.

We chose this hotel to celebrate a special birthday,my twin brother and i were celebrating our 60th birthday,it was late when we arrived,check in was very efficient,staff were very polite,so that was a good start to our holiday,a late dinner was provided,we found our room and were pleasantly surprised at the size of the room,we had a garden room,which yes had a small garden and overlooked a very quiet road,we only saw a handful of cars using it,and it was used mainly by people out jogging,i didnt at any time feel it was unsafe,room was very clean,nice comfortable beds,great shower,staff kept our room very clean.Pools were great,lots of sun beds,a few reserved,but we always found beds,in a good position,joined in a few aqua aerobics sessions,it was fun,my sister in law encouraged me to do some of the other activities,which i dont normally do,and i found that i actually enjoyed them.The food at all meal times,i thought was great,i am a very, very fussy eater,and i always found plenty of very tasty food,i enjoyed all of my meals,i even ate salad,there were lots of tasty varieties and i never eat that back home,i usually hate salad.On our 60th birthday my brother and i were made to feel very special,our table was dressed up with lots of party things and balloons,a beautiful cake was brought to our table,by the staff singing Happy Birthday,so thank you to all of you for making our day special.We enjoyed the evening entertainment,we enjoyed a dance and having a sing-along,great atmosphere in the piano bar,there were some really lovely places to sit and have a drink in the evening,as noisy as you want or as quiet as you want.The marina is a short walk away, we often had a stroll down there and had a meal down there one evening.There is a supermarket across the road from the hotel.We all had a great holiday here,ok there are a few tiny issues,a few missing tiles,some waiting to get a drink,but did any of this ruin our holiday,no it did not,i found all the staff very polite and friendly,hotel very clean,food was fantastic,drinks great,and a lovely clean room,what more could i ask for,so Costa Calero,a massive thank you for making our 60th birthday celebrations so special, we'll definitely be back.

Second visit. Superb hotel really and would have been 5 star had it not been for the poor Aircon. It just couldn't cope with the 30C temperatures. I reported it after my first, sleepless night and was basically told that they can't get the rooms below 23C at this time of year and this is too hot for me at night. Everything else was great. Food, drinks, staff and facilities. Can't comment on evening entertainment as it doesn't start until 10pm, which is too late for us. Overall, a great hotel to visit. Been to several 4*s on the island and this ranks as one of the better ones. Just wish I'd got more sleep🤦

It obviously why we just return and return, it's a beautiful setting the grounds are so well kept and all the staff are truly amazing. From the moment you arrive you are made to feel very welcome any special requests are honoured if at all possible. The rooms are lovely and the views over the harbour are breathtaking. The entertainment is very varied and we really enjoy the guitar player and the saxophone evenings in the piano bar, they are incredible. Anyone looking for a fantastic getaway should book this, the only problem of me recommending how great this is, is wanting to keep it a paradise for me.
