The Salmar

A fabulous peaceful upmarket hotel which ticked every box! Victor greeted us with warmth and gave us useful information about the area, as well as a much needed glass of bubbly! The reception area is beautiful, as are all the communal areas, decorated with perfect taste creating lovely areas to relax. The room ticked every box, with so many thoughtful extra touches, a wonderful surprise. Everything felt luxurious and the decor is calm and tranquil with exquisite artwork, ornaments and sumptuous seating areas. There are bars and restaurants opposite the entrance to explore if you don't want to travel far, but nothing matched the quality of the food at The Salmar, and we were disappointed with one tapas bar we tried....we will be exploring other restaurants next time... There is a supermarket, gift shops, and other shops opposite the hotel, as well as bars and restaurants, but you couldn't here any noise from inside the hotel. It is very windy and the sound of the waves crashing in is loud but quite relaxing too. We love waking up to the sea view and the sound of the waves. We are currently at The Salmar and already talking about returning in the Spring. The staff are so lovely, we can't fault this place, it's been such a wonderful treat, thank you!!

Hotel has been beautifully and thoughtfully refurbished to a very high standard. The rooms are so well designed to make use of the space- having a mini kitchen with fridge, microwave and dolce gusto coffee maker exceeded expectations. The blue and white nautical themed decor is so tranquil and restful and looking out at the ocean incredibly relaxing. The pool, although not heated takes a bit of acclimatising to get into but once in is very refreshing. Also the lovely towelling dressing gowns and slippers are nice to wrap up in after a dip. The water fountains on each landing are again a very welcome addition. The only area where some improvement could be made is the breakfast. Food choices are a bit limited - a better variety of fruit apart from the daily melon, orange and grapefruit slices e.g. canarian bananas and or grapes would be lovely. Unfortunately the hot food is tepid at best and once put onto cold plates and taken back to the table virtually cold. A plate warmer could help. Fresh, rather than poor quality machine coffee would also make a huge difference. Although there is a lovely coffee maker in the room there is a charge for additional pods after the initial 4. Although 60 cents per pod isn’t much management should consider whether this is worth irritating guests over? All in all a wonderful stay and with some minor tweaks it would be perfect. We would certainly return - warm sunny weather a four hour flight from the cold winter weather of the UK is priceless.

Overall, this hotel is absolutely wonderful, and if I find myself back in the area, I'd absolutely stay there again. It had a very chilled out vibe and was beautifully designed. The rooms were stunning. Absolutely spotlessly clean and newly decorated. I can't fault the decor, it was so relaxing and beautiful. We didn't experience any noise issues at all, you could hear the sound of the sea with the door open, and the swim-up rooms have a direct view of the sea, and the sunrise. Stunning. A really lovely touch were the drinking water dispensers on every floor. I always buy huge bottles of water when I'm away, and these dispensers eradicated the need to do so. The staff were all absolutely lovely, and their uniforms were modern, clean and fitted the nautical vibe. Again, very well thought out and designed. The amenities were the only issues we had, however I am putting them down to teething problems at a newly renovated hotel. The sauna wasn't working, our poo wasn't heated and the gym wasn't ready for use - but a local gym membership resolved that (EUR 25 for a week, EUR 35 for two weeks, EUR 8 for a day), and it was a 7 min walk from the hotel. The minor issues we experienced didn't detract from the incredible holiday. Definitely worth a visit if you want a quiet, relaxed holiday. There are local restaurants within 3 minutes' walk, as well as a supermarket. But the onsite restaurant was the best food we had. And the decor was the best too. Highly recommended for value, location, relaxation.

Great hotel superb location and amazing staff .the comarote restaurant was fabulous.we had a select room on the eighth floor completely private and cleverly designed ,the whole hotel is spotlessly clean an we will definitely be back

The moment we arrived we were welcomed with a glass of fizz. Our room was amazing, with a kitchen area, coffee maker, kettle and microwave. Large balcony with sun lounger and the most comfortable beds. The entire hotel is calm, relaxing and luxury. Staff are all friendly and so accommodating. Altogether a fantastic week away in a fabulous hotel. Will be returning next year.
