Sol Varadero Beach

It was a last-minute vacation, and I decided to go here instead of my regular go-to resort in varadero. that was a good decision, and i discovered another great resort to go to in cuba. this place has a great beach (of course) and a good selection of food. the entertainment team also did a great job throughout the week. the resort facility is new and also well maintained. the pool and beach bars open later than I expected (another win). I also want to mention the food. this place has a lot of options and can fit different dietary preferences well. I have been to cuba multiple times and visited multiple resorts. I think this resort has a very good vegetarian options. I actually ran into a couple of vegetarians. they were happy with the food choices too. I think i will take my vegetarian friend to here next time I come. only thing is the swimming pool is shallower than I expected, most of area is only 50 to 60 cm or around or less than 2 feet, if the pool is deeper, it will make the resort even better. last but not least, I need to mention and give my thanks to the professional and friendly staff. they made the trip better

Had a great time, relaxed. Pool bars etc were great. Staff are very friendly welcoming. Particularly Thallia in the lobby bar. A very kind thoughtful young lady. Who looked after us each day and evening. Caring and understanding that we didn't speak Spanish, russian or french. Able to have interesting conversation in English.

Toxic Air quality. Sol Varedero Beach resort. Sorry to say but this is last trip to Cuba. Sept27 -Oct 11th. I was suppose to stay for two weeks. But the air quality was really bad. I had to book a flight back to BC Canada after only one week. Very disappoining trip to Varadero. Cuba goverment Environment. They were burning Cargo mats from Cargo ships. Right there across the bay from this tourist area of Varadero. What a shame.

We had a good experience overall at Sol Varadero Beach, with a few caveats. I'll try to be as detailed in my review as I can for those of you that are considering a resort vacation here.🌴 Cuba is a lovely country of resilient people, and it's worth supporting them, especially directly. The Good: • The à la carte restaurants we visited (Mexican + Cuban) had delicious food, especially Criollo. Make sure to get your reservations made early in the week so you can grab a spot. • Great entertainment! All of the musicians we saw perform were a delight in particular. We missed the magic show, but got to see everything else. • Beautiful, clean beach with minimal seaweed/rocks. Was easy to find free beach chairs. • Clean, nice pool with lots of beach chairs. Saw entertainment (darts, DJ, dance instructor) there most afternoons. • Constantly cool AC in our room. • The Cuba Day event near the pool was great! Good food and good entertainment. The Alright • Buffet food wasn't always very good, but that's understandable in a country facing food and supply shortages. Figure out what you like and stick to it. I recommend the stir-fried meat stations for lunches and dinners, and tropical fruits + waffles or omelets for breakfast. Desserts were consistently pretty good! • Renting equipment for sports/the beach was unclear. We had to wander around the pool and beach areas asking a few people until we eventually found the right person, only to be told that paddleboat rentals were already closed for the day. Oh well. • Some servers in particular were amazing and always made sure to check on us. Others didn't offer us drinks at all, and this is at the buffet where you can't get drinks any other way. For what it's worth, we always tipped for drinks! • Some servers would make me a mojito without rum, some said they couldn't do that. Unsure as to why. The Imperfect • On some days, we had a bottle of water left at our door or in our room, but this was not consistent. Especially because we were told to avoid drinking the tap water, this was frustrating. Had to buy water from the gift shop twice. • The shower definitely didn't get as hot as it should have. Was almost always quite cold, even after waiting. • The TV in our room had very static-y sound issues the entire time, and the remote didn't always work properly. • Definitely get drinks in glasses and not to-go cups, because those are tiny, lol. • Sheet had some stains on it upon arrival, blanket had a few hairs.

This hotel was very much worth the money. Very big resort many choices of food and restaurants 24 hours. The only problem is they didn’t have any wine at any of the bars even in the à la cart, restaurants except for red and they had champagne in the à la carte restaurants And one night I asked for a rum and Coke at the lobby bar and they didn’t have any cola.,The rooms were fine, except my air conditioner didn’t work that well, and they didn’t charge the towels daily, I had to ask and of course I left a tip every day. I had a problem, getting a beach towel because they were out of them. But all in all I would book this resort again. It is a great resort with friendly people.
