Among all the Maldives resorts we visit for our annual vacation, this one stands out as the best‑rounded experience my wife and I have had so far. The overall vibe, public‑area design and layout flow are all very well‑thought‑out. The resort management team was a real highlight of our trip. They struck a practically flawless balance between operational efficiency and guest freedom. Every team member we met on the island was warm yet respectful of personal space — everything simply felt perfectly balanced. Our Island Host ELIO offered us thoughtful, attentive support at all key moments throughout our stay. Special thanks also go to Casmir Raja at COCO Bar, who engaged with us in such a friendly, welcoming way. We even enjoyed several fun games of table tennis! My wife and I are already planning our return trip here for the Lunar New Year holiday. We truly love this place, and we are grateful for everything you have provided.

Our experience at Hurawalhi Island Resort was excellent. The island is spectacular, and the hotel is extremely well maintained, with great attention to detail throughout the property, which makes the whole stay feel very special. One of the things we appreciated most was the sense of peace and tranquility throughout the resort. The hotel never felt crowded or overcrowded, which made it very easy to relax and truly enjoy the surroundings. It is the perfect place if you are looking to disconnect and enjoy a peaceful stay in paradise. The beach is beautiful, and the snorkeling around the island is also excellent. We particularly appreciated the complimentary snorkeling excursion offered once per stay, accompanied by a marine biologist. It is a fantastic experience, as you can see a wide variety of marine life, and the biologist explains everything very clearly and in an interesting way. When it comes to food, we found the à la carte restaurants to be excellent, both in terms of quality and overall experience. However, we have to say that the buffet was considerably less impressive. There was not a great deal of variety, and the food did not reach the same standard as the à la carte restaurants. In our case, we could not eat at the à la carte restaurants every day, so when we had to eat at the buffet, the dining experience was more average. The food was not bad, but it was certainly not one of the highlights of the resort. Despite this small negative point, our overall experience at Hurawalhi was excellent. The beauty of the island, the attention to detail throughout the resort, the peaceful atmosphere, the wonderful beaches, the great snorkeling, and the quality of the à la carte restaurants make Hurawalhi a highly recommended destination for an unforgettable stay in the Maldives.

We spent two weeks on Hurawalhi Island Resort, booked through Meier’s Weltreisen (Dertour), and are utterly appalled. We travel a lot and sometimes take two long-haul trips a year—yet we have never experienced such a terrible vacation. A massive construction site (photos of which can also be found in our review) with all-day around noise in the beach area and around the water villas is definitely something we did not expect in a true 5-star resort. The many positive reviews online are completely incomprehensible to us. For a hotel in this high price segment and with a claimed 5-star standard, we expected relaxation and excellent service. What we found instead was a disaster. Here are the serious shortcomings of our stay in detail: Massive construction noise, disruptions & a toxic management climate: Construction noise: Throughout our entire stay, there was extensive, unannounced construction work directly in the water and around the beach area of the water villas. Extremely loud concrete construction work (concrete renewals) took place daily. Thinking about relaxation during the day was out of the question. Safety issues: Unsecured, exposed electrical cables for lighting were lying around on the sand pathways. Lack of support: A defect report was refused to us on-site. There was no sign of the tour operator (Meier’s Weltreisen - Dertour Group) anywhere on Hurawalhi during our entire stay. When we addressed the issue, the resort manager was uncooperative, and from that point on, we were practically under surveillance. The hotel did not feel obligated to inform the tour operator, and the tour guide was unreachable at the airport for complaints. Ignored birthday & unpleasant behavior at the underwater restaurant: Ignored birthday: Despite a detailed preliminary discussion with our host, my wife’s birthday was simply forgotten and ignored for the entire day. Pretentious fine dining: For the evening, we had booked a high-priced 7-course menu at the "5.8" underwater restaurant. Before we were allowed inside and during a small introduction we were lectured by a waiter: We had to remain completely quiet. We were not talk to other guests under any circumstances, and had to behave ourselves so that all guests could have a great experience. In addition, most of the guests that evening were not even hotel guests, but were brought to the island by boat transfer from neighboring resorts. Ruined anniversary event & the all-inclusive catch: Canceled event: A "Wine & Dine" event on the beach, booked and confirmed via the Hurawalhi app two weeks in advance, was canceled around midday on our wedding anniversary itself due to "not reaching the minimum number of participants." As an alternative, they offered us a private beach dinner—at triple the price. All-inclusive trap: If you book chargeable extra experiences belonging to the Hurawalhi Resort, such as "5.8" or "Dream Island," your already paid AI benefits are forfeited for that period without replacement. There is no credit; food and drinks are each billed additionally in full. Instead, you are treated like an outside guest. Service shortcomings: When the resort had low occupancy, more expensive wines from the AI selection were suddenly "no longer available," and cheaper house wines were served unasked. They also liked to mix different wines together when refilling glasses. Cheaper wines were poured on top of half-full glasses (each dismissed as an "oversight"). At the poolbar, we were completely ignored for half an hour (each dismissed as an "oversight"). Departure day issues & lounge disaster: False promises: Although our host assured us that we could fully use the AI offerings on departure day, we were turned away at the main restaurant and rudely directed to the JFK Restaurant. Transfer: Contrary to the hotel description, there was no lounge on the outbound flight (just a 40-minute wait in a general waiting area and a bottle of water), and on the return flight, we were relegated to a basic standard airport lounge instead of the exclusive Hurawalhi lounge. The only positive: To be fair, it must be mentioned that the service staff in everyday life were generally friendly, sometimes greeted us very attentively by name, and played table tennis with us. Furthermore, we were allowed to keep our room two hours longer on departure day. However, after all these incidents, this in no way saves the overall impression. Subsequent hassle with Meier’s Weltreisen (Dertour): Following our return, we demanded an appropriate reduction of the travel price in accordance with the Frankfurt Table for package tours. After more than six weeks of processing time, Meier’s Weltreisen seriously offered us a completely disproportionate compensation of just €300 for a five-figure travel price. Given the daily, all-day noise and the massive defects, we consider this offer a pure provocation and more than inadequate. Conclusion: We can only strongly advise against this resort as well as the inadequate resolution by the tour operator!

As we visited Hurawalhi for 7 consecutive times has to mean we love Hurawalhi. From the minute you arrive until departure is pure joy. The island is perfectly maintained , accomodation is super Excellent cuisine in the different restaurants on the island. All the staff are doing there upmost to make your stay unforgettable

Hurawalhi Maldives — A Truly Dream Destination Our stay at Hurawalhi Maldives was nothing short of a dream. From the moment we arrived, everything was absolutely perfect — the setting, the service, the food, and most importantly, the people. It is genuinely one of those places that feels almost too beautiful to be real. A huge thank you to our incredible butler, Zayan, who went above and beyond to make our stay so special. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and he made us feel so well looked after from start to finish. His attention to detail, kindness and genuine care made such a difference to our experience. A true asset to the company. Every single member of staff we met was exceptional. The level of hospitality throughout the resort was truly unreal — everyone was so warm, friendly and attentive, and they all played a part in making our holiday unforgettable. The spa was unreal, some of the best massages we have experienced anywhere in the world. Casmir and his whole team always kept us entertained, with the perfect cocktails every time. They were all so lovely and made our experience even more enjoyable. Not to mention Cashmir’s incredible magic tricks and number crunching conundrums. And then there was Chef Hershal — honestly, where do we even begin? His cooking was absolutely phenomenal. He deserves a Michelin star in our eyes! Every dish was incredible, and he completely spoiled us with his creativity, passion and unbelievable cooking skills. The food was genuinely one of the highlights of our entire stay and added the perfect cherry on top of an already magical experience. Hurawalhi is so much more than a beautiful resort. It is the people, the service, the little details and the incredible experiences that make it so special. A big shout out to the general manager Bahauddeen who personally came over to us several times throughout our stay to ensure everything was exceeding our expectations. We left feeling completely relaxed, incredibly grateful and already dreaming about going back. Thank you to everyone at Hurawalhi for giving us memories we will cherish forever.
