The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives

S manželkou jsme se zamilovali do Malediv hned při naší první návštěvě v roce 2022 a začali objevovat kouzlo jednotlivých resortů, každý byl jiný, svým způsobem originální, prostředím, přístupem, jídlem i ubytováním. Vždy jsme zkoušeli jiný resort a hledali ten pro nás nejlepší… až jsme se rozhodli vrátit zpět na Standard Huruvalhi, místo, které nejvíce vyhovovalo našim potřebám… krásné ubytování ve vodní vilce, kde kolem plavou hejna ryb, manty i rejnoci, malí i velcí žraloci (jenom ty želvy se nám letos schovali), výborné jídlo v hlavní restauraci (i v těch “vedlejších”), zvlášť dezerty byly vynikající a zejména pak lidé, kteří se o vás starají, nemůžu jmenovat všechny, tak alespoň ti nejúžasnější… hned v úvodu se nás ujala Eva, energická, vždy usměvavá, se vším pomohla, vše zařídila a nikdy nezapomenu na její … “ja vás miluji”, to musí odzbrojit každého, my ji milovali také 😍… pak tu byla Ayu, z restaurace Kula, našla ten nejlepší stůl, vždy si pamatovala co pijeme a stačilo se zmínit že máme rádi hovězí maso a druhý den jsme dostali ten nejlepší t-bone steak co existuje 😁, no prostě úžasná manažerka směny … a nakonec Shakh, ten nejlepší číšník ze všech, na obědech v hlavní restauraci, na večeřích v restauraci Onda, ten se o nás vždy skvěle staral, rádi jsme si s nim povídali a vždy se rádi zase vraceli… a co závěrem… Standard je místo, kam se chcete a budete vracet, protože je tam vše, co od dovolené čekáte… brzy nashledanou . We stayed at the Standard for 10 nights for our honeymoon, on the premium all inclusive. We had pretty high expectations, and this was by far the most luxurious holiday we’ve ever treated ourselves to. And to be honest, our expectations were met and exceeded by the hotel in pretty much every element, right from the welcome to the send off. The food: one of our key reasons for booking, the food was consistently of a very high standard. I think we only had one disappointing meal in the buffet dinner. The A la carte restaurants were extremely tasty, and we really felt like we were eating in expensive restaurants with lovely settings. Our favourite food was BBQ shak, for the variety and excellent starters. Onda I think had the best setting with a great view of sunset. Even breakfast didn’t get old, with a highlight being the fresh mango you could ask for. I will have dreams of this mango I think. My wife is Thai and so she also really appreciated how the hotel catered for Asian tastes constantly, such as a congee breakfast station. The Service: we were consistently wowed by the service. From the moment we arrived Youssef took excellent care of us. I’ve never had someone constantly available for questions or bookings, and it really made us feel well taken care of. He was a key reason why our stay was so excellent, and we can’t thank him enough. In addition, all of the staff were also excellent, but a few notables for us were: Hassan at breakfast, always attentive to anything we may want and personable. Shak at Onda and breakfast, again super helpful and nothing too much trouble. Si at Guduguda with excellent recommendations and great chat. And Morgen at lunch buffet, offering to make us whatever we wanted, including great prawn stir fry and even Pad Thai for my wife. Again, for us we’ve never spent so much on a holiday so perhaps this is normal at hotels like this… but it was so cool to feel like we could ask the staff for whatever, and if it was possible they would try to sort us out (like some sneaky mango or smoked salmon at breakfast when none was available). Also the gentlemen who cleaned our rooms were fantastic. The Villa: We booked an overwater villa and were blown away. The room itself was beautiful, with a huge (slightly inconveniently so!) bath. The highlight was the snorkelling near the villa, with so many beautiful fishes almost around your own personal reef. The pool was also fantastic, and everything was kept really clean. Excursions: We did the house reef tour and dolphin cruise. The cruise was phenomenal, and we saw loads of dolphins. The guided reef tour was also excellent, although maybe could have been longer. We wanted to do Manta tour too, but the weather prevented us. The slight negatives: We got really unlucky with the weather towards the end with about 3 days straight of hardcore wind and rain. During that time, we got quite bored - the hotel didn’t really have the facilities to cater for the weather, apart from sitting near the bar. You could use the communal Hammam, but it was very expensive. This brings me onto another slight negative - most elements were safely covered under the all inclusive, and you always understand some things may be extra (e.g. Lobster, champagne etc). However I do think people for whom cost is a factor would appreciate the extra inclusions, like indoor facilities, or smoothies from the Joos Bar. Even activities like tennis lessons etc, so you don’t feel like all the activities have a high cost. We did sense more of a focus by the hotel as we were leaving to cater for the bad weather days, but for us it was a little late. And on the good weather days, the fridge in the room didn’t really keep the drinks that cold to enjoy that refreshing beer. Quite small things, and of course the good outweighs the bad massively. Overall we felt really happy we chose the Standard for our honeymoon, and we’d love to return at some point in the future (maybe with better weather!). Thank you to the standard and their staff for helping us to have a wonderful stay! Great island atmosphere that was relaxed. We stayed in an Ocean Overwater Villa. Room was clean and well maintained. Our room was also quiet as it was at the furthest part of the overwater villas. The resort facilities, rooms and restaurants were all excellent and came with exceptional service. Special mentions to Shamaau our Guest Experience Manager, Shak from Onda, Hassan and Mahmulmed from Kula, and Shamman our buggy driver. All of these guys went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay.

We stayed 10 nights in a beach villa in October 2026 and even though we were a bit unlucky with the weather we still had a great time and would definitely come back. The island and the ocean is absolutely beautiful. Crystal clear water with lots of opportunities to go snorkeling or take part in diving trips. When the sun is out it's pure paradise! You will see lots of fish, small sharks, rays and if you are lucky even dolphins and turtles. There are lots of bikes available that you can freely use to go around the island. If you go by foot it takes about 15 minutes. The villas are very big and offer everything that you could wish for. The room service was also great. They clean two times a day which is more than we needed. Since we are vegan/vegetarian we weren't sure if we would find enough options at the buffet. There were indeed a lot of meat and fish options which shouldn't be a surprise considering it's the Maldives. However, thanks to the good labeling we always found enough to eat. We especially want to point out the excellent service at the buffet which was always very kind and supportive with our diet. Whatever whish you might have for an extra meal... they will cook it freshly for you! The moment you arrive on the island you will be assigned a person of contact. He/her will make sure that whatever problem or wish you have will be handled with care and in a timely manner. Communication happens easy via app. Big thanks to "Shamaau" for taking care of all of our requests! Big shout out to the whole team of the standard in general! Their service is 10/10!

Filipino-Canadian family of 4 (2 adults, 9 & 7 year old) Youssef was our villa host and he was always accommodating from the moment we arrived like getting us a day use beach villa while waiting for over the water bungalow until the end of our time in paradise. He responded to our messages on the stay with us app almost immediately. He treated us for our 10th wedding anniversary in Onda and it was perfect…listen to his advice. The restaurant staff that stood out was Shak, Hassan and Nas but other host ladies always had a smile and knew which area to seat us every time. I forget the heads chef’s name in Kula, his day off was Fridays I believe, and he does his job well, don’t miss sushi night and catch of the day. I really loved their pasta station, it reminded me places in Florence, Italy. I forgot to get the names at Guduguda but the manager, a younger male staff who advised us to get the experience 1 platter and the head chef were all great. Such an amazing experience, please go at least once and be open to trying Maldivian cuisine. The staff in Onda know how to make our anniversary dinner the most memorable one in our life for sure. The kid’s club was used by our family daily and it really helped us make the most of our trip. Thank you Riddhi, Lama, Shamma and Marina for keeping the kids safe and entertained. They wanted to go back for the last day but we wanted to spend time with them. The villas were constantly cleaned and topped up throughout our stay, we stayed in the lagoon, beach and open ocean. I would rank open ocean the best since you have access the to the house reef then lagoon then beach. There was a smell in the beach bathroom, I guess it’s normal there. The men serving our villa cleaned 2 times a day, fresh towels, sweeping and drinking water. Best sunsets at Onda, then beach by the communal pool. Best place to see sharks is at Guduguda. Kayak to Baby Island at least once during your stay. The gym was cold, clean and useful, I loved the punching bag for cardio. Go to all the fire led shows, Mikey is an amazing entertainer. He also does the Zumba and dancing classes. I follow Mikey and the standard on social media, always brings me back. Try the cappuccino and mixology classes, so fun and good experience. We did the yoga and meditation every morning at the spa. Even though the app says 0700, it usually starts at 0730 then go to Kula right after for the freshest tropical fruits. My go to breakfast was mashuni and fresh fruits, my kids loved their crepes and juices. I loved the schedule, it’s not too much or too little. Room service for lunch was helpful and convenient. My kids loved taking the buggies whenever possible. Go to the dive center day one, they do run out of the smaller fins. If you’re bringing kids, bring their own snorkels and fins, my kids are on the tinier side. I want to go back, try to go at least once in your life. Trust the process to get there, it will all work out. The resort lives up to their name, “The Standard.”
