The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives

S manželkou jsme se zamilovali do Malediv hned při naší první návštěvě v roce 2022 a začali objevovat kouzlo jednotlivých resortů, každý byl jiný, svým způsobem originální, prostředím, přístupem, jídlem i ubytováním. Vždy jsme zkoušeli jiný resort a hledali ten pro nás nejlepší… až jsme se rozhodli vrátit zpět na Standard Huruvalhi, místo, které nejvíce vyhovovalo našim potřebám… krásné ubytování ve vodní vilce, kde kolem plavou hejna ryb, manty i rejnoci, malí i velcí žraloci (jenom ty želvy se nám letos schovali), výborné jídlo v hlavní restauraci (i v těch “vedlejších”), zvlášť dezerty byly vynikající a zejména pak lidé, kteří se o vás starají, nemůžu jmenovat všechny, tak alespoň ti nejúžasnější… hned v úvodu se nás ujala Eva, energická, vždy usměvavá, se vším pomohla, vše zařídila a nikdy nezapomenu na její … “ja vás miluji”, to musí odzbrojit každého, my ji milovali také 😍… pak tu byla Ayu, z restaurace Kula, našla ten nejlepší stůl, vždy si pamatovala co pijeme a stačilo se zmínit že máme rádi hovězí maso a druhý den jsme dostali ten nejlepší t-bone steak co existuje 😁, no prostě úžasná manažerka směny … a nakonec Shakh, ten nejlepší číšník ze všech, na obědech v hlavní restauraci, na večeřích v restauraci Onda, ten se o nás vždy skvěle staral, rádi jsme si s nim povídali a vždy se rádi zase vraceli… a co závěrem… Standard je místo, kam se chcete a budete vracet, protože je tam vše, co od dovolené čekáte… brzy nashledanou . Amazing resort! Highly recommend. Our 2nd visit and it’s always such a memorable experience. The snorkelling excursions including turtle and nurse shark are incredible and family friendly. Loved all the restaurants and enjoyed the Premium all inclusive with impressive menus, cocktails, premium spirits, champagne and wine list. GudaGuda and Onda are must visit and the overwater spa is a perfect place to spend the afternoon. The team here are incredible. Everyone who remembered our kids and their preferences and always made us feel right at home. And our host, Youssef who honestly made our stay seamless. Answered every question within seconds and made every request seem effortless! Can’t wait to return!

I have had the pleasure of travelling a fair bit in my life, and I dearly love every place I stay however The Standard, Maldives has a special place in my heart, and I think on leaving I left a bit of my heart behind. From the wonderful facilities, the stunning nature and the sweetest of staff, The Standard truly stands out as a gem amongst the many wonderful resorts and islands scattered amongst the Atolls of the Maldives. Humble, underrated and yet outstanding in every aspect, The Standard acts as a wonderful retreat from the chaos of life whilst remaining to feel like a home away home. My husband and I adventured out for 5 nights under the ‘All Inclusive’ package for our Babymoon. Initially we picked the Maldives because we wanted a laid-back environment, and on booking you will find across the many packages with The Standard that you don't need to lift a finger beyond potentially booking flights. The Standard will assist in organizing your transfers, including your sea-plane transfer to the island and back. On landing at Male, we were met by a series of kind staff who helped us to The Standard lounge whereby you have a section of snacks and drinks to enjoy away from the crowd whilst awaiting your flight. On arrival at the island (roughly 30-40 minutes by air from Male), and after a short boat transfer, we were met by our host, Yusef, who as described by many people on the island is truly a star. I just wanted to take a moment to highlight how truly wonderful Yusef is. Meeting new people is part of the fun when travelling but coming home with a new friend is something else. Yusef is an absolute delight - he is caring, understanding and goes well outside of his means to make your stay truly unique from your moment of arrival to your departure. I’ve never met someone who blends professional hospitality with true care, honesty, individualism and friendship so well, and that is just one small part of why Yusef is a treasure to The Standard. Thank you, Yusef, for all the wonderful little touches to our stay, for all the chats, stories and laughter. Your passion and enthusiasm for what you do is inspiring, it will take you far and I hope you know how valued you are by many. Speaking of staff, there was not a single member of The Standard who didn’t stand out for their wonderful hospitality. Every single staff member greets you warmly, is smiling, is open to chatting and sharing a bit of their life whilst getting to know yours. On our last day, Yusef asked me what my favorite part of the stay was and without a hesitation I said the staff. They are truly something else, and if I could, I would write a big thanks to each and every one. One who deserves their own big shout out is Ali, another new friend made. Ali brings a whole new level of personality to his work and his passion for what he does amongst his passion for the wildlife and everything else is contagious. My husband and I were in awe of his stories, he constantly brought a smile to our faces, and we will treasure his friendship. The Standard is very lucky to have him aboard. Some other points to highlight are how beautiful the island is naturally. We stayed in an Ocean Overwater Pool Villa and had access to the house reef which is undeniably a slice of heaven. It is so diverse in life, and having all this at your fingertips 24/7 is unreal. The island itself is exceptionally well maintained whilst remaining completely natural. The beaches are clean; the facilities give back to nature, and the staff are working overtime to preserve the island, and this is to be commended. The staff's passion for the nature itself really stood out, with many of the staff being just as excited to see the wildlife as we were. The rooms are homely, attended to throughout the day and the bed is super comfortable (remember this is coming from someone who is 6 months pregnant, so you must take my word for it). The additional facilities like the coffee, the daily refreshed water as well as the beautiful bathroom with the glass floors are all final touches. I was informed by Sebastian, The Standards media manager (another lovely guy) to whom we met whilst at dinner, that there are plans to have the villas renovated over the next year or two which will be a nice change that we cannot wait to see. We recommend a trip to the Spa at least once on your stay. The environment is peaceful and the staff are attentive and caring. You’ll be offered cold towels, tea and after your massage you can lounge around in the private pool area. For those also on their Babymoon, I suggest the ‘Mum-to-be’ massage. Coming off roughly 10+ hours of flying, this massage package certainly helped reduce the severity of my pregnancy swelling and helped to rid of the overall stress I was holding onto before our trip. I highly recommend! There is also a fun selection of excursions to partake in, our package included a Sunset Cruise to which we picked the fishing option (there is also a dolphin cruise option). This was another highlight for us; it was so peaceful to sit and watch the sun setting around the Atoll whilst trying our luck fishing. The team on the boat were educational and patient which we were grateful for. We also had a great chat with the guys at the jetty after the cruise whilst watching the sharks come in for an easy dinner. There are other options too that include diving, turtle and manta ray snorkelling plus more. If you are pregnant, please be wary when booking some of these and ensure you have approval from your OBGYN before you go. You may need to sign a waiver and get approval from the islands medical team before participating, however don’t let this scare you. There are also other dive centre activities, such as kayak and jet ski hire to which you can take out to the Baby Island. One other addition we added onto our stay was a photography session. The Standard has a small photography team who can curate a photo book for your stay. We got this mainly for our Babymoon photos, but it was fun to explore the island with our photographer, and the photos came out beautifully. Whether for a special occasion or because you can, I recommend getting some professional photos taken to enjoy at home. Other activities include an art class, and there is a great selection of hand painted and handmade souvenirs that I recommend checking out. One last point to make is how abundant the food selection is, and it’s good food too! The all-inclusive package offered breakfast, lunch and dinner at Kula, the house restaurant. Fish off the reef, various fruit, salads and an amazing section of desserts are all offered. There are also stations with a live chef offering fresh off the wok dishes, as well as pasta and pizza. Likewise, there are three additional restaurants that you can visit. We went to both BBQ Shack and Onda, both of which had their own unique vibe, alongside their own amazing food and staff. There is also Guduguda, which offers Maldivian cuisine. Highly recommend going to any one of the three restaurants for at least one of your night’s stays. In all, The Standard well exceeded our expectations, and I am dearly missing our stay there as I write this review. I haven’t had such a relaxing holiday in a fair while, and in the craziness of life as we prepare for our baby, The Standard certainly helped bring us back down earth. As noted, there is a bit of my heart left behind on the beautiful Huruvalhi Island and I will be back to collect it, this time with our new little one in hand.
