Hotel Cerviola

Přiletěli jsme v noci a pohodlně jsme se dostali posledním autobusem do Marsaskala. Asi 600m od zastávky se nachází tento hotel, v pohodě pěšky. Velmi příjemný recepční a pokoj čistý s krásnou koupelnou. K dispozici je lednice i kávovar. Snídaně anglická i sladká, super.

We came to this hotel for a week after reading mixed reviews. However we thought for the price and it just being our base we would take the gamble. On arrival reception checked us in to then say we would be based in the sister hotel which is a 2 min walk away ( it's 5) They got us a taxi as we had our luggage so we went up the road to a place called TJ Boutique which is next to a grocery shop. I can only describe the boutique as an upgraded hostel type feel, although it was clean. We thought that this would now mean we have to walk back to the hotel each morning for breakfast and to lay / use the pool. We went bavk to the Cerviola reception and complained politely to say we booked the Cerviola NOT a boutique. The very helpful lady on reception said she understood and if we could just stay the night at the boutique she would have a room for the next morning.. Be aware this could happen when you book this hotel. I didn't see any mention of this anywhere through reading reviews. The Cerviola is maybe a 2 star, the breakfast is good but there's no other option for food as at this time of year the snack bar / bar at the roof top pool / terrace is shut. There are 2 grocery stores right opposite the hotel which is very handy. The room was clean but the terrace we had was very poor in the furniture set up, cracked rattan table, split plastic chair, some rubble from the wall on the floor and 2 sun loungers that are ready for the dump. The staff were friendly and the young Asian receptionist was fantastic in all her help. Would we stay here again? No, as the area and the hotel did not live up to our expectations, which are never high. The hotel needs more care and attention and it should be advertised thst yku may be moved from the hotel on your arrival.

It’s 2:30 am and I am listening to someone moving metal gas or beer cylinders about down below in the back alley that my room overlooks. I can’t close the windows because the AC isn’t switched on. So, it’s just me and buzz of the occasional mosquito (that I have to get up find and kill each time) and the constant intermittent rattle of the other AC units switching on and off in the pokey little alley I have for a view. If you’re looking for cheap, you won’t find much better. On the upside, the room’s clean.

My stay at this hotel was extremely disappointing. In addition to the fact that the environment was not particularly clean, there was a cockroaches in my room, which is absolutely unacceptable for a place that accepts guests with that high level of reputation. This created a huge discomfort and even led to panic, as you don't expect something like this in a hotel. Hygiene is clearly not up to par. I expected much more, especially for this money. I would not recommend this hotel and I certainly will not return never ever again.

Good location: not far from the airport (about 20-30 minutes drive, according to the traffic) and walking distance to the waterfront. There are some bars, cafes and restaurants around the hotel, which is great, as the hotel has no restaurant. Left the accommodation early in the morning, so I skipped breakfast. The rooms with city views have balconies. My room, located on the first floor, was rather small, the corridors are narrow and the elevator tiny. Overall, it's not a bad option for a short stay.
