Beautiful resort. Terrible people to have on your side when something goes wrong. Two days into our stay, I became violently ill — hours of severe stomach pain and vomiting more than ten times. Every meal I had eaten since arriving came from this resort. I called the on-site clinic. The doctor ran no tests. None. She took my vitals, wrote it off as drinking, handed me antacids and nausea pills, and charged me $450 for a visit that missed what was actually wrong with me. About two hours later I was admitted to the hospital as an emergency. They ran bloodwork. Elevated white blood cells. Dehydration. Diagnosis: acute infectious gastroenteritis (food poisoning). I spent the night in the hospital and left on antibiotics. I've paid nearly $3,000 out of pocket so far, and the hospital's final bill is still coming. Then I brought every record to management, and it got worse. Angel Zuñiga, Front Desk Manager, told me he'd reviewed the resort doctor's notes and concluded it was a hangover. Think about that. He trusted notes from a visit where no tests were run, and dismissed the hospital discharge report — from the place that actually tested me — showing an infection and elevated white blood cells. He picked the answer that cost the resort nothing over the one backed by bloodwork. Angel and Monserrat Rico (Chief Concierge), then spent the conversation trying to pin it on me: “We are food certified.” "No other guests got sick." (Like we all eat the same exact thing/report the illness). "The hospital paperwork doesn't mention the resort by name." "Maybe it was something you ate at the airport" — two days earlier. (Didn’t eat at the airport/on plane). Not one apology. Not even a refund of their own clinic's fee. No concern for how I was feeling, just a steady effort to make sure none of this was their problem. I still have two nights left here, and I have trouble trusting the food or the staff to take care of me. That's where this resort has left me: sick, out thousands of dollars, and treated like a liability instead of a guest. The pools are nice and the views are stunning. None of it matters when you get sick and the people in charge decide your hospital records don't count. Book anywhere else.
7 of us went to Secrets to celebrate my 50th birthday. What a great time! I would highly recommend upgrading to the premium (forget the actual name) package. We checked in and were driven by golf cart to our exclusive check in area and offered delicious margaritas. The ground were beautiful and very well taken care of. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The restaurants were varied, delcious and very well run. The baracuda bar was our favorite space with amazing swing chairs and lovely beach chairs with an amazing view of the ocean. My friends told everyone it was my birthday and we received birthday shots, special drinks and I was sung Happy Birthday every night at dinner! Cannot recommend enough. ***** (Five Stars)
Staying here for honey money. Dined at Portofino Restaurant and listened to Xavier the violinist tonight and he was amazing! Literally in tears… great food and ambiance
Xavier with the violin during our night dinner at the Italian restaurant Portofino was outstanding. He plays with the philharmonic orchestra. His talent is amazing, his adaptation song of Mozart with his dad at the harp is outstanding. He made our anniversary amazing. Thank you Xavier.
