Not sure where to start but we as a couple travel the world but do not usually travel to the same place twice (the world is so big so what's the point?). Anyway before I start the Mexican people in general are so warming and friendly whenever you pass them in the street, I've been to places in the world where the people are nice in the hotel but not so much outside when they are not gaining gaining from you. So back to the hotel, the staff and facilities, food and drink are all amazing. You can do as little or as much as you'd like to in the socialising/activities aspect. If you'd like a quiet holiday, sorted. If you want a party holiday you're good to go as well. Beach is perfection, there's so much choice of food that even a picky vegetarian will be happy and if there's not something then the staff will be happy to cater for your needs with a smile. The Shangri-la is a particular favourite of ours and if you're a Brit it's pretty much having a mix between an Indian and Chinese takeaway as an option of every night of your stay. The staff here put in 100% always with a smile on their faces and no request is ever too much. Few people who made our stay so nice were Viviana in the buffet, Isis and Alberto (?) in the sports bar, Israel serving drinks on the trolley outside, Alexis on the entertainment team, Felix and Mauro in the swim up bar and Lili in the lobby bar to name a few but you cannot fault any of the staff. The TUI rep was also great, we have been here a few times now and will be returning again and again.

Immigration and customs were efficient, professional, and friendly. Departure was just as seamless—especially with business class, everything moved quickly and stress-free. ⸻ Transportation – Disappointing Experience We booked airport transportation through Cancun Shuttle expecting a VIP experience—clean vehicles, punctual service, and professionalism. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Arrival Pickup: * Vehicle took a long time to arrive * Car was dirty inside and out * Driver attempted to be friendly, but overall experience fell short Departure Pickup: * Much better—on time, cleaner vehicle, and a great driver who genuinely showed pride in his country Biggest Disappointment: Our booking included a “free tour,” which was delayed so much that we ended up not being able to enjoy it at all. Advice: Be cautious when booking private transportation—this did not match the premium service advertised. ⸻ Accommodations – Mixed Experience Upon arrival at Riu Caribe, our original room type wasn’t available, but we were upgraded—which I appreciated. The room itself was: * Spacious * Clean * Beautiful ambiance However… the food and service were a major letdown. Dining Experience: * Restaurant service was extremely poor—often ignored * Food quality was disappointing * Drinks were weak and made with low-grade alcohol As a result, we barely ate on the resort. For an all-inclusive, that’s a huge issue because food and drinks are a major part of the experience. Standout Employee: Eric (bartender in the lobby bar, wears glasses) was the highlight of the resort. * Acknowledged us when others didn’t * Remembered our drinks * Consistently delivered excellent service He truly made a difference in our stay. ⸻ Activities – The Best Part of the Trip Spa Experience: We did a couples massage. * Receptionist was welcoming and professional * My husband enjoyed his massage * Unfortunately, mine wasn’t great—I felt uncomfortable, congested, and ended up with a headache ⸻ Xplor Park – 1000/10 Absolutely AMAZING. * Well-organized * Fun, adventurous, and worth every second * We will definitely return ⸻ Chichén Itzá – Great but Exhausting * Extremely educational * Our tour guide, Eleazar, was fantastic Downside: * Intense heat * Constant vendor heckling—after saying “no” multiple times, it becomes overwhelming and takes away from the experience ⸻ Coco Bongo – 100000/10 An unforgettable experience. It’s not just a club—it’s a full production. I honestly don’t even have the words to describe how incredible it was. ⸻ Additional Dining Experience – Senior Frogs (Be Cautious) One experience that really stood out—in a negative way—was at Senior Frogs. We dined there on Tuesday night after 10 PM. After receiving our bill, the server began adjusting the tip amount himself, attempting to charge whatever he wanted. I had to stop him and address it directly. Unfortunately, I didn’t get his name, but behavior like that is completely unacceptable. It leaves a very bad impression and is something management should take seriously. ⸻ Overall Experience & Tips Mexico has amazing nightlife and unforgettable excursions—that’s where it truly shines. However: * Constant soliciting for tips can be overwhelming * People may expect tips even for minimal interaction * Some vendors/services may: * Quote one price and charge another * Add tips to your bill without clearly informing you Advice: * Always double-check your bill * Confirm pricing before accepting any service While we had some frustrating moments—especially with food, transportation, and that dining incident—we also had some truly amazing experiences. Would I return to Mexico? Yes. Would I stay at this resort again? Probably not—mainly due to the food. At the end of the day, when an all-inclusive falls short on food and drinks, the room alone can’t make up for it.

AMAZING SERVICE, each and every employee I interacted with (spa, dining, beverage, entertainment) was spectacular. PAY THEM MORE!!! I do not know how much they are making, whatever it is, double it! Our experience here was out of this world and it was all thanks to the wonderful staff. And PLEASE let the steakhouse staff wear short sleeve uniforms, it’s hot out here!

If you want to have a lot of fun -that’s the hotel. There were a lot of parties during the day and evening. The entertainment staff is the best. The rooms are very clean and nice. The food is good too- just they should improve the sea food a bit. The beach is one of the best in Cancun. It’s full of palm trees and with enough shade. There were not any seaweeds at that time. The water was crystal clear too.

Five stars for the beach and the professional evening shows! Good service and clean amenities throughout. The beach is beautiful with clear, clean water. We took a walk down the coast and you can easily see the difference between this beach and the neighboring properties; ours was definitely the best kept. Little saragassum. The staff does an amazing job removing it right away, making it look much better than the beaches next door. Food is good, reliable all-inclusive fare. The activities and the Riu Party are a blast, but the nightly entertainment really stands out. The shows feature true professionals—not resort staff pulling double duty. The sound, choreography, lighting, and performance quality are outstanding. Will recommend it and will be back again!
