Riu Ventura

It was a beautiful place to spend a vacation with family and friends. I had my birthday celebration at RIU. The RIU Party was awesome, with lots of happy people.

Had no problem upgrading to an ocean from swim up room on arrival, and had a later check out, again with no issues. Room itself is very nice, and each time we ordered things on the app it was sorted within the hour. Food is as expected in all Riu hotels, but strange having to book the steakhouse on the app,but not any other which are first come first served. Overall the staff were really good, but did have a couple that favoured Spanish speaking guests, guessing it was easier for them. We have to mention the bar staff at the lobby bar though, as they were exceptional, especially Raymon, David, Nic, Diego and Gabriel. They looked after us so well. If there was 1 thing that was annoying though it was other inconsiderate/ignorant guests above the swim up rooms who thought it was ok to smoke on their balconies ( which i don't have a problem with), but then throw the cigarette butts into the pools below. This isn't a reflection on the hotel, rather a couple guests who couldn't care less. Level 6 pool is also good and a great view of the beach and ocean.

The hotel was clean and very nice. Staff was wonderful and the food was good. There are 5 restaurants and a bunch of pools, bars and an ice cream shop. There are shows each evening that were very entertaining. We took a cab several times and also rode the bus that stops right outside the hotel. There is shopping just up the road and great adventure tour that's about 5 minutes away. Across the street is an archeological site, with another waling distance up the road. I think each was about $7 US, but be sure you get some pesos. Right next to the hotel there is a public area with a CANCUN sigh that is great for pics. Would highly recommend.
