Secrets Tulum Resort & Beach Club

**⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wonderful Stay at Secrets Tulum** We had a fantastic stay at Secrets Tulum and would happily return. The hotel is beautiful, very clean, and spacious, with stunning pools that resemble small cenotes and create a relaxing atmosphere throughout the resort. The rooms were large, comfortable, and spotless. Our only suggestions would be a bit more lighting in the bathroom, which felt quite dark at times, and a few extra hangers in the wardrobe. We did have an issue with our first room, which had no cold water in the shower and some daytime noise outside, but reception handled it quickly and moved us without any hassle. Their service was excellent. The food was very good overall. Lunch could have offered a little more variety, but the chefs were happy to accommodate requests. We especially enjoyed the *pescado al mojo de ajo* and fried salmon they prepared for us. Our favourite restaurants were **Jasmine** and **Portofino**. A special thank you to **José at Portofino**, whose friendly and enthusiastic service made our dining experience even more enjoyable. We also enjoyed the spa's jacuzzi and whirlpools, which were very relaxing, although we found the spa treatments and massages quite expensive. The beach club was lovely, although the beach itself was affected by sargassum during our stay, which is obviously beyond the hotel's control and depends on the season. The location is excellent, with attractions such as Casa Tortuga and Xel-Há nearby. We used the InDrive app to get around, which was affordable and efficient. Overall, we highly recommend Secrets Tulum. The staff genuinely go the extra mile to make guests happy, and their warmth and professionalism made our holiday special. We loved Tulum and look forward to coming back. 🌴☀️❤️

The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, and the staff is exceptionally friendly, attentive, and welcoming. However, the property does lack the beach views and overall atmosphere you would expect from a hotel located near the ocean. On the positive side, there are plenty of pools and bars, making it easy to find a comfortable spot to relax without feeling crowded. Unfortunately, the dining experience was a major disappointment. The food at the restaurants was some of the worst I have ever experienced at a hotel. The only meal I found enjoyable was the breakfast buffet, which was decent.

We had a great stay at Secrets Tulum from September 6th through September 15th. For reference, we have previously stayed at Secrets Moxche and have stayed multiple times at Excellence Riviera Maya and Excellence Playa Mujeres. When we checked in, we found we had been upgraded to a swim-out suite. We were thrilled! It was wonderful to have a cool, refreshing pool just outside our siding glass doors. We were a little disappointed that we didn’t have an “It’s our anniversary” sash across our door, even though we had told them it was our anniversary both before arriving and at check- in. Not a big deal, but there were many other guest rooms that had the anniversary banner (or honeymoon, or birthday). Since we didn’t get the banner recognizing our anniversary, we felt like we were somehow not good enough to warrant recognition. Again, not a big deal, but it made us feel inferior to the other guests. The resort was quiet and didn’t have many activities going on, which is quite different than our experiences at other all-inclusive resorts. That didn’t bother us too much, but it may bother other people. We found it disconcerting that the few times we went into the sports bar in the late afternoon and early evening, there was no staff there! Literally, there was nobody staffing the sports bar in the late afternoon and early evening! There were no other guests, either. Obviously, we walked out since it’s no fun to sit in an unstaffed and empty bar. We also didn’t enjoy the EDM music being piped in at the Zen pool. Come on, it’s called the Zen pool and you’re playing EDM? It wasn’t loud, but it didn’t fit the vibe of the Zen pool. If you are going to play any music at all at the Zen pool, it should be spa music. The other issue we had was with the closure of the restaurants. One night we went to the Taqueria restaurant to have dinner at about 7, and there was no staff there. This was on a night when the restaurant was supposed to be open! We went by approximately one hour later, and we saw a party of about six people eating at a table at the Taqueria. I don’t know how they got served food when there was no staff there only an hour prior. Maybe they complained to management and management sent somebody to staff the restaurant? All of the negatives aside, we did have a good time at Secrets Tulum. The resort is beautiful, and we loved the multiple pools. We also loved that we could go out to the pools at 10 or 11 in the morning and still get a pool lounger. We spent a couple of days at the Beach Club, and we absolutely loved it! Even though the sargassum was bad, the Beach Club was beautiful. It’s especially peaceful in the morning, before a lot of the resort guests start showing up. I recommend taking the first shuttle from the resort to the beach club to get your pick of the beach beds. We found the food and drinks to be adequate. Nothing to write home about, but we enjoyed our meals (mostly) and drinks. We booked a session with the on-site photographer to take anniversary photos. She did a fantastic job, and we were very pleased with the images. There is no charge for the photo session and you only pay for the photos you want. We ended up buying more photos than we had originally intended because they were so good! I highly recommend doing this if you are celebrating anything. To conclude, there are a lot of areas that could be improved at Secrets Tulum, but it’s a lovely resort and we had a great time. We plan on going back next year.

Overall, we had a fantastic stay at Secrets. The hotel is beautiful, although the layout can be confusing and some of the bars/restaurants are tricky to find. The rooms were clean and spacious with very comfortable beds, although housekeeping was a little inconsistent - they'd take away the used towels and flannels but not always replace them all again. The staff are wonderful and the service is excellent. Beach club was a little disappointing and not like the photos show. My biggest complaint would be about the food. The breakfast and lunch buffets were incredible, but didn't open in the evenings. Dinner is between one of the 4 restaurants, but only 3 tended to be open on any one night so choice was limited. Apart from Jasmine, we found the food quality not to be very good and they lacked any kind of ambience. Having the buffet open for dinner would have improved things massively, and taken pressure off the other restaurants at busy times as there was sometimes a 25 minutes wait for a table. On the whole, a lovely place but could be improved.

Secrets was a great resort if you’re looking to relax. You’re not going to get the party atmosphere you get from other resorts. Which is what we were looking for.
