The resort regarding the pools, hot tubs, bars seating, cabana’s and overall cleanliness is great and had no problem with it. Always found a cabana at one of the pools. Towels are easy to get in the little trunks they have. Lots of washrooms around the place when at the pools. Always clean. Room was always clean and again in great condition. Food overall was probably 7 out of 10. Breakfast not bad but definitely missing a few touches like a crepe station. Lunch at same place was okay. The French restaurant for me was the best. The food and dessert was great. Crème brûlée, profiteroles, duck confit and lamb were on point. Taqueria was good in the evening and not bad during the day for pool food. Italian wasn’t great. The bread and cheese was good. Overall too Much salt in the pastas. Pizza was good though. The evening events were great like the casino night, Mexican night and the singers. The Asian restaurant Jasmine was not a hit for me at all but was always busy so others must’ve liked it. The steak place was nice. The beach club restaurant I thought wasn’t good at all. The beach was nice. Overall the staff was fantastic for us and didn’t have any problem at all. It does take about 15/20 minutes to get to the beach club from resort which they have an open bus to take you there. Very consistent with timing. Get to the bus promptly when leaving the beach to go to resort as if it’s too many people you’ll have to wait. First come First serve basis. I preferred when they had all the events on the rooftop in the evenings as one night they had something by the main pool which is sanded so after showering for the evening I hated getting sand all over my feet again. All the pools are surrounded by sand which has some positives and negatives. So expect lots of sand in the pools. Overall we loved the pools and resort. Food was okayish but some definitely better than others. I liked how the buildings were round so it takes about a day to figure out the best pools, how to get to places quickly and which way is easier. The BBQ on the rooftop was fantastic but expect to get smoky with your clothes.

Good location with access to downtown Tulum. Beautiful room & good access to pools. However, food was massively underwhelming. Breakfast buffet decent but no great options for dinner. Housekeeping very slow & things went missing from the room with no solution. AC difficult to manage. Nice to have 24/7 room service but very minimal options. No good coffee.

We spent 4 days at the resort and it was our first time in a Secrets Resort and in Tulum. Overall we had a great stay. Would we come back to the same hotel? Probably not. To clarify, as I had been reading a lot about theft, we had money in the room, passports, an Ipad and a laptop and nothing happened. The pros: - The Preferred Club rate, which we didn’t know we had through booking on Expedia until we got there, is a great add-on: their pool is gorgeous, much calmer than the other ones and The Grotto has nice food throughout the day. The a la carte breakfast at Jasmine is not as good as the main buffet though - Rooms are huge, at least for European standards, very spacious, clean and modern. The bath tub on the balcony is a lovely addition. Nespresso machine is a huge plus. - Main breakfast buffet was rich, and most food was tasty. Some nice traditional Mexican options too - Best margaritas & mezcalitas are at Jasmine. The sushi is good too. - The overall service is great! The staff is very attentive, and polite, always asking if we needed anything. There was a lot of concierge staff to help with any questions we had - The beach club, Casa Zamna, is beautiful. Perfect for relaxing on the beach, don’t skip it - Security: getting in and out of the hotel is heavily controlled so we felt safe throughout our stay as we were here when the incidents in Jalisco and Quintana Roo happened - The resort is LGBTQIA+ friendly: great to see so many couples, and the staff was very discreet and attentive to everyone. The cons: - if you want to be close to the beach, the resort is not for you. There is a shuttle to the beach but it takes 20min to get there, and it is not as frequent. - The main pools can get a bit loud/rowdy in the afternoon, there are a lot of activities taking place. - The food overall was ok/good but not exceptional, definitely not a foodie’s destination. The worst we had was at Casa Zamna. - The resort only serves coffee at their coffee shop which is far from all pools. It’s always busy, especially in the mornings - Bluewater grill has a “dress code”. They made us go change but when we came back lots of men were in shorts and t shirts and seemed pretty casual. The hostess was pretty rude about it too. - The taxis: the hotel staff will push you to get one of the Tulum taxis which are very expensive. We paid $700 one-way to Zona Hotelera. On the way back we booked a taxi via the app InDrive and paid $100. Use the apps and don’t let concierge fool you! - You cannot get pool service before 11am. - VIP Services: the worst experience of the trip. We were approached by this woman saying she was part of VIP services. She gave us coupons worth $200 for our stay to spend at the spa or for dinner & offered us a brunch to “discover their sister property”, Secrets Akumal and become Hyatt members. Unaware of the exact run of show, we accepted the offer and were driven to Secrets Akumal where said brunch ended up being an intense sales pitch for the Hyatt Unlimited Vacation Club, a $100K membership program - read about it online if you are unfamiliar, it has a pretty bad reputation. This took 2h to get out of, with different sales people trying to sell you a membership until we had to firmly say “no thanks” and demand a taxi to bring us back. Don’t be fooled by the free brunch; it was only the hotel’s breakfast which you can have in your own resort anyway…. So, overall, we had a really good stay, but not excellent enough to make us come back.
