We specifically chose Sunday Hotel & Spa Wismar because of its spa facilities. After our stay, I honestly believe the hotel should remove the word "Spa" from its name. The hotel advertises a pool, three saunas, a steam bath, and spa treatments. The reality was very different. The pool was open, but only one sauna was available, while the other saunas and the steam bath were closed. Even worse, the only open sauna was around 40°C, which is far below a normal sauna temperature. When we asked at reception, we were told they did not have staff available to turn the sauna back on because the switch had gone off. That was the entire spa experience. The hotel itself is also disappointing. The rooms are outdated, with old carpets throughout, giving the hotel a tired appearance. The restaurant policy makes little sense for a holiday hotel. It closes at 20:00, and guests are expected to reserve from 17:00. Closing dinner service at 20:00 is far too early and completely out of touch with what most travelers expect. Service was equally disappointing. I waited around 15 minutes for the night receptionist because she was outside smoking. I simply needed an extra pillow, only to be told they did not have any. If you stay here, you may want to bring your own pillow. The most serious issue was safety. At approximately 03:45, the fire alarm sounded throughout the entire hotel. Guests evacuated using the stairs, but there was no visible hotel staff wearing safety vests, no guidance, no assembly point, no evacuation procedure, and no staff taking charge. Guests were left standing outside, wandering around and taking pictures while waiting for someone to explain what was happening. About 15 minutes later, the fire brigade and police arrived. Fortunately, it turned out to be a false alarm. After the building was checked, the fire officer gave guests permission to return to their rooms. Once again, there was no visible hotel staff managing the situation. Later, when guests were returning to their rooms, I found a receptionist who was not on duty. He told me this had happened many times before. I asked whether the hotel manager "Herr Schaible" was present that night, and he replied that the manager was not there. During a full hotel evacuation, there was no manager on site. I honestly do not know whether this hotel simply does not take fire safety seriously or whether repeated false alarms have made them complacent. Either way, it is unacceptable. Fire safety is not optional, and the complete lack of leadership, communication, and emergency procedures during the evacuation was deeply concerning. I cannot recommend this hotel. What should have been a relaxing spa holiday turned into a disappointing experience with misleading facilities, poor service, and serious concerns about guest safety.

very nice and air conditioned room-it was last minute to visit a friend in Wismar and we enjoyed it very much-we have stayed at this hotel in the past and were always pleased. we will definitely stay here again in the future.

The room was comfortable but no view. All staff does not speak English. Breakfast was good and enjoyed by all of us. We were out most of the day so don't know about the noise level during the day. Overall a good stay.
