Marena Wellness & Spa

We had an awful experience at Marena Spa. Verbal harassment by a masseur; double-charging at the dinner; issues with the room equipment. The hotel management has been dismissive and avoiding taking responsibility. The location is great.

We tok a 200km drive from Germany to spend a day at this hotel. The pictures of it, and the ratings on hotels.com fooled us bigtime. On arrival we saw instant that this was a hotel who has seen bether days. We arrived 2 hours before check-in at 15:00 and the front desk didnt offer to check us in to use the spa or anything. We used the 2 hours to walk on the beach an visit the nearby village. The beach was fine, but didnt have any facilities. The Village was terrible. Back at the hotel, we got a room that was the smallest ever. Like a prison-cell. No facilities, no room for bedside tables or anything. No wellness here for sure. Ok - off to the spa then. It was one jacuzzi full of polish men, a little swimmingpool with noisy kids. We looked for the sauna-area, and was instructed by a staff member to get rid of all clothes and wear some kind of a sheet. No problems. Only 1 sauna was in order and the showers was crowded by young men. They where just waiting for something. When my wife and me entered the sauna, it was empty. 10 seconds after, the crowd followed like they thought yhis was a swingers club. We left immediately. After some recovering in the prison-cell, we went down to have dinner in the restaurant but it closed at 18:00........ We then had to eat at the pizza/pasta-restaurant nearby. Good food and very good service by the staff there. After a night sleep in the cell, with one lousy pillow each, we hoped for a good breakfast. Well, another suprise. They had hired a saxophonist to to play taffel-music. Which hotel in the world does that??? No one but this one. It was noisy, it was bad and we could not leave soon enough. The happiest moment was when the gate in the parking opened so we could leave.

There were spider webs next to the bed and spiders behind the curtain in our room. After we've informed the crew, they removed some of the spider webs, although there was still one of them on the ceiling lamp when we were leaving. The bathrobes were too small. Water nozzles at the swimming pool were out of order. During booking of the stay, there was no information that it's required to book spa services in advance and it was not possible to make it during the stay. At least food was very good.

Calm and nice place surrounded by the forest. Nice and helpful staff. Tasty food, and restaurant friendly for children. A good place for families with children. You can get to the beach walking through the forest.

In general we did not feel that we got the value for our money. The hotel and spa felt more old than advertised. The staff where not on there toes and it felt that we where bothering them (however a lot of credit to the very friendly bartender and the receptioninst day 2 at our stay) The spa felt very small and overly crouded. We also got food a stomache flue and we heard that several other guests got that as well. A lower price, more serviceminded staff and minus the stomache flue would make it a lot better. A big plus is the 150 m walk to the beutiful beach.
