Tivoli Alvor Algarve Resort

This was our second visit to the resort and we would happily come back again! The first time we visited was with my wife and our two children, who were 4 and 6 at the time. They absolutely loved it. There was a really good choice of food at the buffet, and the kids always managed to find something they enjoyed, which made mealtimes nice and easy. The staff were friendly and helpful, the service was great, the food was good and the rooms were always clean. There is also plenty of space around the resort, with three main pools plus an adults-only pool, so it never felt like everyone was crammed into one area. On our second visit, we came with my parents, my brother and his wife, and they really enjoyed it too. This time we explored more of the surrounding area and visited some local villages, went quad biking, visited a splash park and spent time at some of the nearby beaches, which made the holiday even better. Like anywhere, there may be the odd little thing that isn’t absolutely perfect, but overall we thought the resort was fantastic and offered a really enjoyable, relaxing holiday. Highly recommended, especially for families. We’ve now been twice and would definitely return for a third visit!

We are in the resort right now- we came last year and had such an amazing experience that we rebooked and sent several friends here. It still remains a lovely resort but standards have significantly slipped from our last visit and it would make me refuse to book here again. In short: Specific requests that were of last years standards no longer are acceptable. No restaurant reservations despite only arriving 3 hours before with an exhausted child and v quiet restaurants. Minimisation of restaurant booking. We arrived and could not check in until after 3pm and meant that we were stuck with terrible (read cold / horrendous / inedible buffet food despite restaurants being empty. All inclusive now means only 3 restaurant reservations in a week which dont feature before. This is not evidenced on the website or at booking. It is false advertising.

This is a bright and beautiful looking hotel with blocks set in well maintained gardens. Rooms are well appointed, spotless and extremely comfortable. There is an excellent range of food on offer at the main restaurant and three speciality restaurants are available to book. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is an adults only pool which is a ‘comfortable’ distance from the children’s pool area where there are lots of activities and entertainment. There are a choice of bars during the day and a great snack bar if you want a change from the main restaurant. However- this hotel describes itself as Five Star and there are a number of reasons why I feel this is not warranted! There are, in my opinion a number of ‘fatal’ flaws. There is only one area open in the evening. This is in a large marquee where entertainment is provided. This area has seating but is over crowded with many people standing around the sides. As we were there during the first week in September there were many children who enjoyed running round in circles throughout. There were queues to get a drink. On our first evening I asked where there was an alternative bar/ seating area but was told there was not. I found it difficult to accept that a five star hotel did not offer a bar where guests could simply sit and chat. Within the grounds there where areas which could have been used in this way. Other shortfalls were minor but important. The quality of cutlery was extremely poor outside of the speciality restaurants . At breakfast there was a considerable lack of cups and many that were available were cracked and or chipped. I do not feel that you should be compelled to drink your breakfast tea or coffe from a paper cup in a five star establishment. The napkins were paper . small and thin and blew away in the slightest breeze. Did I enjoy my holiday? Yes, but I would not recommend this hotel to friends or family and would also be reluctant to use this hotel group again.

Lovely hotel with good facilities, all very clean. Food and drink generally very good, service can be a little slow at the bars during busy times. Anabela at breakfast was our favourite member of staff, closely followed by the man who drives the train into Alvor who is always smiling!

Brilliant. Exceptional service. Catered for every need. The accommodation and entertainment was great. The food was excellent. No shortage of great food with wonderful spa facilities. Definitely coming again
