Tivoli Alvor Algarve Resort

This hotel has so many plus points, the accommodation is fabulous, all set around the complex in little small blocks, only one 2 floors high. The rooms were spacious and big enough for 2 adults and 2 children of 13 and 10. The rooms were clean and modern and couldn’t fault it. We were in block 10 and this was perfect , near the restaurants and away from the bar and pool. The staff are really friendly across the whole hotel. The hotel is situated away from any town and this was perfect for us. There was a little lad train from the hotel that takes you to Alvor, Alvor was absolutely gorgeous and well worth a visit. We also go an uber to a larger town nearby which was a 15 minute drive away. More of a shopping place if you need any essential/clothes. There is a private walk way to the beach which is about a 15 minute walk. The beach is absolutely amazing. Turn left and keep walking to get to the smaller coves and beaches, just watch out for the tide on the smaller coves as we did have to wade out day. The food at the hotel was good, the larger buffet restaurant is extremely busy at peak times and offers a range of cuisines, all is good. We also booked into themed restaurants on a few nights, again food was ok/good. I would suggest downloading the app on arrival and you can book. I would suggest booking a table asap as these go pretty quickly. What would stop us coming back to the hotel are the swimming pools, the day is absolute carnage! You will be lucky to get a sunbed anytime between 9 and 4pm! Pools are overcrowded and quite stressful! Music is very loud. There is an adults pool which was very quiet and empty. My feedback would be that the hotel needs to decide if its a quieter, more high end family hotel which it could be, or a good mid hotel, I don’t think it works at the minute unfortunately. One option could be to make the underused adult section into a fee paying section for families, particularly in high season. Overall, the grounds and rooms are fabulous. Food was good/average. Day experience wasn’t exactly relaxing! Alvor and beaches amazing!

We stayed at Tivoli Alvor for 6 nights on an all-inclusive basis with our toddler, and overall had a really lovely experience. The location is excellent, just a short walk to the beach, and the hotel also provides a free land train into Alvor and back, which was really convenient, especially with a small child. The hotel itself is lovely, made up of modern, low-rise room blocks spread throughout well-landscaped gardens. It feels spacious and calm rather than like a large resort. Our room was spacious with a modern design. Although it had a shower, the hotel provided a baby bath in the room free of charge for our toddler, which was a really thoughtful touch. We were very happy with the food. Essenze, the buffet restaurant, had all food clearly labelled with allergens, which was great as I have a gluten intolerance. On one occasion the gluten-free options were very limited, but when we spoke to staff they arranged for the chef to prepare something else for me. Carosello (Italian) and Roastic (steakhouse) were both excellent - great quality, good choice, and very good for gluten-free options. All staff we encountered were friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Entertainment was good, but it did start a little late in the evening, meaning we missed it most nights as our toddler needed to go to bed earlier. The spa was great as well. My wife had a massage and rates it as one of the best massages she has ever had. Service at the bar in the evenings was very slow though (due to not enough staff serving). Also, the bar is a bit of a trek from the kids splash pool in the daytime, however there was always a table of chilled soft drinks next to the pool. The only real issue we had was with the pools. We chose the hotel partly because it advertised heated pools, but initially they were very cold and too chilly for our toddler to enjoy. After speaking with the front desk, we found out that the pools were colder than the temperatures stated on the website. We asked if the splash pool temperature could be increased, and this was quickly rectified along with all the other pools as well. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Tivoli Alvor. In fact, we’ve booked to return in May 2026 - which says it all!

I'm sorry to say, I have to echo many of the poor reviews of the hotel and would not recommend to the majority of people. As already stated, this is very much a family hotel and I would not recommend if visiting as a couple. The hotel is well laid out and the rooms are of an adequate size and were kept extremely clean throughout our stay. Food was average. Essence was our main "go to" mainly because we could barely get booked into any of the other restaurants (attempting to book on our first day and finding the first night we could get in was on night 4). None of the restaurants have air-con and this was a significant problem in Essence, in August. Sitting outside was slightly more bearable but inside was stifling at points. The signature restaurants (Roastic and Corralleo) were a pleasant change to the on-going average options in Essence but were far from 5*. Salty Bar was a busy place, especially late afternoon, and whilst the bar staff did their best there was routinely a que of 6-10 people ( more if anyone was after cocktails). We did venture to the adult pool which was pleasant enough but right beside Essence so far from peaceful. Some alternative "adult" drinks might be good to have at the bar there, apart from just beer, wine and water. Another point for anyone booking via Jet2 is to note that the photos on their site of the water park: this is NOT on site and requires a bus journey to be able to attend. I think some of us presumed this was part of the hotel, because of the way it was portrayed on their website. Don't be mistaken.

Would not go back food was appalling couldn't wait for holiday to end not a good way to remember a holiday will not recommend this hotel to friends

We visited Tivoli Alvor back in Oct and had a fantastic experience. I have a gluten allergy (Coeliac Disease) and the resort catering staff were amazing. Thank you. ### ALL OF THESE ITEMS ARE GF ### Chef Joe - Based in the main restaurant, chicken schwama + fries, pizzas, Steak & veg, roast style steak & veg. Chef Rodrego - Breakfast - a vast range of continental items. Breads, pastries, fruits, omelettes. Chef Joseph - Steaks, pizza, Caprazi dessert Chef Michel - Chocolate Brownie Chef Sophia - Roastic rice and chicken Sonia - Head of house in the main restaurant, super helpful with my allergy. Pedro - Main restaurant - Super helpful guy 👍🏻 I requested GF beer to be stocked, I managed to get a few bottles but it was hit and miss. This was disappointing from the bar team.
