Tivoli Alvor Algarve Resort

My view is that the 5 star rating is over exaggerated. The Hotel is over priced and full of noisy golfers. As our Superior Room (another exaggeration) overlooked the pool, we couldn’t help notice the sun loungers being secured by the “obligatory towel” from around 7am, annoyingly they remained empty most of the day. This was despite notices from hotel that this practice was unacceptable (but not monitored or supervised sadly). The food invariably was over cooked (inedible) - I didn’t venture to the hotels steak restaurant As wagu steak cost €240, we naively went half board and to our dismay found everything was buffet food in a canteen environment, so we ended up eating in restaurants in the marina most of the holiday, I guess with 638 rooms and potentially up to 800 + day guests it’s not surprising it’s buffet. Drinks were also over priced in my humble opinion, at €13 for a small glass of wine and €6 for zero beer, which cost €1 in supermarket and €2 in other nearby hostelries. The hotel, despite being in a fantastic location, is showing definite signs of deterioration with room furniture failure - extractor fan did not work for 14 days despite request to have it repaired - shower was either too hot or too cold - although not a security risk, the patio door initially didn’t work (it was repaired) cracks on walls, The security card for lift and room access had to be replaced 6 times due to failure. contrary to AI view, the noise levels were disappointing HIGH, with the pool side having competing noise levels (hotel v PURO beach) which was really annoying. and the marina side being easily quieter, The portugese people were lovely, friendly and helpful, and I have to say the hotel staff were equally lovely, BUT THE ACID TEST- “if asked would I go back?” NEVER

we went as a family of 5 which was first holiday of our 2 year old boy and we generally was happy with experience but there was some aspects of stay didn't like . I want to talk about the positive first : 1 Staff was attentive and very nice and was accommodating and they recommended the Paesano Restaurant in guest relations for eating out in Alvor which was a great choice and when it came to organising taxis was very happy 2 Pool areas we really enjoyed and we had great fun in family pool and there was plenty of sunbeds 3 Food was generally good and we particularly enjoyed the breakfasts and particularly Carosello and the all inclusive did offer good value ! 4 Housekeeping staff did a very good job keeping room tidy out and restocking on water etc ! 5 We enjoyed the mini train to the resort of Alvor and it made going out more interesting Now I want to talk about aspects we didnt enjoy: 1 While rooms was of a very good standard we did think the Bathroom lacked privacy and thats something need to address as it made us feel uncomfortable when having a shower 2 I was not happy to see one or two family people smoking in the family pool area because in my opinion for a family hotel this is not acceptable, if adults want to smoke they should smoke in a designated smoking area. 3 They need to invest in air conditioning as at times was unbearable in the restaurants and was uncomfortable 4 I feel for parents and grandparents there needs to be more areas when they away from children with more designated areas such as a adult only bar so they can sit down relax while children are playing to bring more balance to adults and grandparents of families when having own space 5 I think it was really poor that the Salt Bar Closed about 7 as it should be open longer and also did not like in evening how there was only tent for families to drink and play in the evening and during peak season this would be overcrowded and uncomfortable and they need more space and should perhaps invest in another bar on sight . overall we enjoyed our stay despite the issues and aspects we didn't like and the staff was all lovely, this is defiantly more of a 4 star hotel than a 5 star, would we come here again in future ? Am very 50/50 as we like Portugal and resort was lovely but they need to make improvements to make it 5 star and a more pleasant experience for us to consider coming back

I recently had the pleasure of arranging a spe special surprise for my partner who was going for a relaxing break So I thought I would arrange the champagne premium gift which had rose petals champagne and all the trimmings it was done at short notice but the stuff there went above and beyond to accomadate my request My partner was over the moon Looking for to a vist with my.partner in the near future Thanks again for all their hard work

Tivoli All Inclusive Alvor Algarve Portugal 5 September to 15 September 26 Let's start with the good, some staff were polite and helpful and room was great, generally had a nice stay but I feel I must mention the below as I feel this is not all 4 or 5 star hotel. There is no direct beach access at all! There is a walk way to the beach but the gradient makes it impossible for young children, elderly or guests with limited mobility, I feel the description didn't reflect this making it seem while being (apparently) 750 meters away there was no mention of the incline. There are no toilets near the entertainment tent which also gets hot of an evening and had the same dance troop performing over 4 nights which was repetitive, there were no live singers or bands. The lack of toilet facilities near the entertainment tent was very disappointing. The Shore bar wasn't open so of an evening you had to sit and watch the same dance troop if you wanted a drink and sweat in the heat of the marque. In fact the poor bar facilities on the entire site need mentioning, with only the salty bar serving a good range of drinks while the bars by the adult pool only really served beer, wine and the choice of 4 cocktails that contains beer and wine. The pools had dead flyies floating on the surface and were never removed. Flies are a problem especially on the food in the main restaurant, so much so we even pointed this out to a staff member who just shrugged their shoulders. Also there was no hand rails to assist people down the steps into the pools. The food in the restaurant was mostly cold and a poor choice especially for children. The restaurant has a small selection of food on offer all night so if you arrive late or your transfer is early you can get some ham, cheese but again I wouldn't personally due to the lengh of time the food is left out, proven by the stale bread and donuts and the cat that has taken up residence, you don't know what the cat has been into. We reported on a number of occasions to guest relations that the lock on the door for the disabled toilet in the main restaurant was broken, which was ignored. There are ramps all over the site which is good but then there are no hand rails down steps or into the pools so a person with limited mobility won't be able to get in and out of the pool without help. The train from the hotel doesn't go to the beach either, dropping you off at alvor harbour where you then need to walk at least half a mile to the beach, which I can't understand because the train passes by the 2 car parks that lead directly to the beach and could stop at one of these very easily. Basically we made the best of what we felt was a let down and will not be returning to Tivoli.

Nice resort, but definitely not 5-star We were a family of six and stayed for six nights. Overall, the resort is pleasant, the rooms are fine, the staff serving in the restaurants were friendly, and the walk to the beach was lovely. The little train into the local town was also a nice touch. With the beautiful weather, we had some enjoyable moments. However, we were disappointed by several aspects of the experience. We weren't aware there were two levels of all-inclusive. The standard package excludes branded drinks and has fewer restaurant and drink options, while Premium costs an additional €30 per person, per day. This wasn't made particularly clear before arrival and left us feeling like second-class guests. There was no table service, drinks required queuing, cocktails were pre-made and mixers came from soda guns. Bar areas were often left with empty glasses, wet tables and rubbish, and we regularly had to clear tables ourselves. Food was quite repetitive and many of the hot dishes at breakfast were cold. Breakfast only started at 10am and, on the standard package, dinner didn't start until 8pm. The entertainment was heavily geared towards children, and everything closed at 11pm, leaving nowhere to relax or socialise afterwards. The resort is clearly much more suited to families with young children than adults looking for a more sophisticated 5-star experience. Other disappointments included tired pool towels, no pool service, no soft drinks or snacks in the room, a small and easily overcrowded gym, and staff occasionally being unable to answer basic questions about the resort. Most concerning was housekeeping entering our room three times despite the Do Not Disturb sign being displayed. Check-in was also poor. At 7:30pm there was only one person on reception with around ten guests waiting. Overall It's a nice resort in a good location, but we simply didn't feel it delivered a 5-star experience. Having stayed in better 3-star hotels, we expected considerably more. As a family of six, we collectively agreed that we wouldn't return to this resort or use the same hotel group for future holidays.
