Vila Gale Collection São Miguel

We stayed at the hotel at the beginning of this month and, although the breakfast food was good, we felt we had to express our disappointment with the service and, above all, with the atmosphere in the breakfast room. The main issue was the noise coming from the kitchen. There was a man who was speaking very loudly, clearly audible throughout the breakfast room. At the time, it was noticeable enough that we believe other guests also noticed it. Both my husband and I found it very disturbing, as it made the breakfast experience far from relaxing. In a 4-star hotel, we expected a much quieter, more comfortable and well-managed environment, in keeping with the standard the hotel claims to offer. The restaurant manager was also a major disappointment. Her attitude came across as quite unfriendly and unwelcoming, which further contributed to an experience that, quite honestly, did not feel like the level of service one would expect from a 4-star hotel. We also never saw anyone we could identify as the hotel manager or a member of the management team, so we did not have the opportunity to bring this situation directly to someone responsible for the hotel. We returned to São Miguel this week and stayed at another hotel, which was actually more expensive, but the difference in the quality of service and attention given to guests was very noticeable. This experience made us realise even more clearly that there are important aspects of this hotel that need to be improved. The food was good, but that alone is not enough to compensate for an unpleasant atmosphere and service that left a lot to be desired. Although our stay was at the beginning of the month, we felt it was important to leave this review. We hope that the comments will be taken as constructive criticism and that these issues will genuinely be addressed and improved.

Fantastic hotel with quite a history, friendly staff, wonderful food and beautiful pools.

This hotel is beautiful. It’s in a perfect location to the old town restaurants and bars . The rooms are spacious and ours overlooked the pool . The staff are wonderful and extremely helpful with everything. We hired a car to explore . Tiago gave us a wine tasting experience, his knowledge was perfect . The hotel is run very well and the two main men are superb .

The hotel is beautiful and has a magnificent location. The staff was very kind, friendly, and helpful. Overall, we had a pleasant stay. However, for a four-star hotel, we felt that a few details were missing. There was no complimentary coffee or tea in the room, and the à la carte restaurant was not operating during our stay. We were told that, because the hotel was very busy, only the dinner buffet was available. Unfortunately, the buffet did not look particularly appealing. Despite these shortcomings, the hotel itself is lovely, the location is excellent, and the staff was wonderful.

Vila Gale Collection Sao Miguel not only met, but exceeded all expectations. The property is immaculate and it is taken care of to a high degree. The rooms are clean and modern and the personel are friendly and helpful. Breakfast each morning was lovely and the pools/spa were absolutely beautiful. I would definitely stay there again!
