Vila Gale Collection São Miguel

Our holiday on Sao Miguel was blissful. We stayed in this beautiful hotel. Swimming outside was no longer pleasant, a bit too cold but the pool was open. Fortunately also nice indoor pool where you can relax, exercise,.... The rooms are spacious and in order. Nice breakfast buffet with something for everyone. One good hotel and perfect base if you want to explore the island. On Saturday night there is live music in the bar.

Stayed here for 5 nites as part of tour group. Came a day early so could relax before start of tour. Location is excellent, fort and waterfront area just across the street. A short walk to restaurants and main area of town. Breakfast buffet was good, with exception of the wait if you wanted freshly cooked eggs or omelette. The eggs benedict were atrocious, truly inedible. So we ended up sticking to the buffet items laid out. The room was okay, but it was a bit tight especially between the bed and TV console area. Balcony not really a balcony… it basically was a table and chairs in a small alcove by the window. We did have a nice view of the outdoor pool. There was no kettle provided which is generally the case in most parts of Portugal. We did make use of the mini-fridge (although did not purchase any of the items in it due to high prices), but used it for water and juice purchased from local supermarket. Also used the provided safe to store excess cash and passports. The outdoor pool was on the cool side, but it was nice to lay out in the sun on the loungers. We did make use of the indoor pool and spa area - swam in the pool and used the steam room, unfortunately the sauna was not working. Would consider staying here again

Fantastic hotel with quite a history, friendly staff, wonderful food and beautiful pools.

This hotel is beautiful. It’s in a perfect location to the old town restaurants and bars . The rooms are spacious and ours overlooked the pool . The staff are wonderful and extremely helpful with everything. We hired a car to explore . Tiago gave us a wine tasting experience, his knowledge was perfect . The hotel is run very well and the two main men are superb .

The hotel is beautiful and has a magnificent location. The staff was very kind, friendly, and helpful. Overall, we had a pleasant stay. However, for a four-star hotel, we felt that a few details were missing. There was no complimentary coffee or tea in the room, and the à la carte restaurant was not operating during our stay. We were told that, because the hotel was very busy, only the dinner buffet was available. Unfortunately, the buffet did not look particularly appealing. Despite these shortcomings, the hotel itself is lovely, the location is excellent, and the staff was wonderful.
