The Reserve

Five stars is honestly not enough to describe our experience at The Reserve. Beautiful rooms and amenities are expected from a luxury hotel, but exceptional service is what truly sets a hotel apart, and The Reserve absolutely delivers. From the moment we arrived, everything felt luxurious, intimate, and relaxed. Since we were already on the island and had a rental car, we were greeted by João, who offered to valet our car while we checked in comfortably at The Reserve's private entrance. Our GEPAs, Diana and Nicole, were outstanding. We communicated mainly through WhatsApp, which was super convenient whenever we had a question about the room, dining, or really anything else during our stay. We also used their unpacking service. We headed out after arriving and came back to find everything hung in the wardrobe or neatly folded in the drawers. Such a luxury after traveling! We stayed in Room 1540, a corner suite on the 15th floor, with multiple balconies and incredible views of the Atlantic, Funchal, and the mountains. The room was immaculate, spacious, and very peaceful. The attention to detail was one of my favorite things. Amazing water pressure, Aesop bath products, a pillow menu, and even branded charging cord clips. I left some jewelry on my bedside table one day, and housekeeping placed it neatly in a beautiful little blue basket. It's those small touches you remember. Reserve guests also have complimentary access to Laurea Spa and Jacarandá Club, their intimate rooftop breakfast restaurant. Breakfast overlooking Funchal was such a relaxing way to start the day. Juan was an absolute gem, as was the rest of the breakfast team. The location is perfect for exploring Funchal on foot and also a great base for exploring the rest of Madeira by car. For our last night, we celebrated our anniversary early at Nikkei, their rooftop Japanese restaurant. We chose the nine-course Chef's Table Omakase, and it was a chef's kiss! Thank you to Victor, Tânia, Nima, and Jorge for making our evening so special. We came back to our room to find rose petals, champagne, and a delicious anniversary dessert waiting for us. Such a sweet ending to our stay. The Reserve is definitely a luxury experience, but the service, amenities, and attention to detail made it worth it. Being originally from Madeira made this stay even more special for me. My husband, who is from the US, has not stopped raving about his experience at The Reserve. We will absolutely treat ourselves to another stay when we're back visiting family. From the moment we arrived at The Reserve at Savoy Palace, we knew we were somewhere remarkable. My wife and I have visited many beautiful hotels, but none has offered this combination of luxury, comfort, thoughtful service, and genuine hospitality. Christina welcomed us personally when we arrived and took the time to shake our hands. That simple gesture set the tone for our entire visit. Her commitment to her guests could be felt throughout the hotel and in the care shown by her entire team. Mariana, our personal assistant, was attentive, kind, and incredibly helpful. She anticipated our needs and handled every request with ease. She even helped us choose and arrange gifts for our hosts, making a meaningful gesture much easier for us. The hotel’s location could not have been better. We enjoyed spectacular ocean views, private rooftop infinity pool, and Funchal’s breathtaking surrounding hills. Shopping, restaurants, and the waterfront were all nearby. We could easily explore the city and then return to the comfort and tranquility of the hotel. Our ocean views suite was amazing, no detail was lost from the bedding, to the cleanliness, to the products, all top tier. We looked forward to the nightly turn down service as there was always a thoughtful treat waiting for us at the end of each night. The spa was a destination of its own. Its beautiful design and peaceful atmosphere made it the perfect place to relax. We especially enjoyed the steam room and pristine pools. The care given to every detail was evident throughout the entire space. Each morning, we looked forward to breakfast on the 16th floor. Enjoying a wonderful meal while taking in the sweeping views was an incredible way to begin the day. Juan made every morning an experience and even more memorable. He was warm, attentive, and determined to make every meal exactly right. There was always something enjoyable to do, whether we were exploring Funchal, relaxing by the pools, visiting the spa, drinks on the rooftop, or simply admiring the scenery. The Reserve gave us the perfect balance of adventure, relaxation, and fun. We are deeply thankful to our dear friends, Deo and Joe Caldera, for introducing us to this extraordinary place. This was far more than a hotel stay. It was an experience we will remember for the rest of our lives. The best memories until we meet again, The Reserve!

Breakfast on the 16th floor quickly became one of our favorite parts of each day. Waking up to the panoramic views of the ocean and Funchal was an experience in itself. The peaceful atmosphere, beautiful setting, and wonderful food made each morning feel special. Francisco was simply the best. He remembered our preferences, paid attention to every detail, and went above and beyond to make every meal perfect. His genuine warmth and kindness made us feel as though we were being welcomed by a dear friend each morning. Mariana, our personal assistant, was wonderful. She made everything feel effortless and ensured that every part of our stay was taken care of. She was always kind, attentive, and ready to help. Her personal attention made us feel valued rather than simply treated as hotel guests. Christina’s leadership was evident throughout the entire hotel. The exceptional service, attention to detail, and sincere care shown by every member of the team clearly reflected the high standards she has created. She and her staff made us feel genuinely welcomed from beginning to end. The beautiful accommodations, incredible views, exceptional dining, and exclusive amenities made the hotel extraordinary. However, it was the staff and the way they made us feel that turned a wonderful vacation into a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We are especially grateful to our dear friends, Linda and Joe Caldera, for introducing us to The Reserve. Without them, we may never have discovered such a remarkable place. We will always treasure the memories we made there and feel incredibly fortunate to have shared this unforgettable experience together.

Our stay at The Reserve was absolutely outstanding from beginning to end. We have been fortunate enough to travel all over the world and stay at many beautiful five-star hotels, and we can confidently say that The Reserve stands among the very best we have ever experienced. They don’t simply respond to your needs — they seem to anticipate them before you even have to ask. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the food was absolutely fantastic. Every meal we had was exceptional, and the service in the restaurants was just as impressive. We would also like to give a huge shout-out to Diana, our GEPA (Guest Experience Personal Assistant). Diana was wonderful and made our stay incredibly easy and special. She was attentive, thoughtful, and always one step ahead of us. We also want to recognize Juan, our waiter, who provided exceptional service, as well as the wonderful young lady from South Africa who works at the restaurant on the 17th floor. Unfortunately, we did not get her name, but we hope management knows who she is because she deserves special recognition as well. She was absolutely lovely and added so much to our experience. It is rare to find a hotel where the service, food, accommodations, and attention to detail are all this consistently exceptional. The Reserve truly understands five-star hospitality. We left feeling that this wasn’t simply a beautiful hotel stay — it was an experience. We will absolutely be returning to The Reserve on our next visit to Madeira and will be recommending it to our friends and family. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay so memorable. We had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Reserve in Madeira. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel incredibly welcome, and the level of service throughout our stay was truly exceptional. The staff were warm, friendly and attentive. Every detail had been carefully considered, making the whole experience feel effortless. It’s clear that a lot of care and attention goes into creating the guest experience at The Reserve. The combination of beautiful facilities, exceptional service and genuinely lovely staff makes this somewhere we would definitely recommend. Big shout out to our GEPA Alexandre as well as Jessica, Joao and Juan! We also had great staff at the spa, including Renato and Isabel. The cocktails evening for guests was a great touch - thanks Cristina! We absolutely loved our stay and would be delighted to return.
