The Reserve

We considered another famous hotel close by, but decided to give The Reserve a chance. It has been a wonderful week. High class service with experienced staff. Very private and relaxed atmosphere. Room of high quality. Cleaning at a level we haven’t seen anywhere else. The view from the roof top pool is extraordinary. Been at a number of hikes. A true 5 star hotel that understands that you do not charge for water, parking or need fight for chairs or attention from staff. Beautiful scenery around the island. It is a must to start your hikes no later than 9.30 as parking is a nightmare after 10. We had a car, choose a small car, roads a very narrow and parking generally a nightmare. Check for cruise ships before you go to botanic garden and the cable car. Quality of food is generally ok, but still some way to France, Italy and parts of Spain. But prices are accordingly.

An excellent hotel with exceptional service. In every part of the hotel we were particularly well looked after by diligent staff who were keen to ensure that our experience was the best it could be. It felt a little strange that the rooms of The Reserve seemed to be scattered around the Savoy Palace but we got used to it and the payback was easy access to excellent Savoy Palace facilities such as the gym. Our only minor disappointment was with the terrace which we had which lost the sun just after lunch and the private pool which was too shallow for even to sit in it. We would not hesitate to visit again but we wouldn’t bother with the in room pool which is no hardship given the quality of the other pools available and perhaps look for a room on the opposite side although I was told by staff that we had the more inspiring view from our side.

Excellent hotel. Beautiful. High quality and variety of services. Privacy. Very friendly and efficient staff. Better than any description. It was our second time at the hotel and we intended to return.

Our experience at the Reserve Savoy was unlike any other vacation. The whole teams from the arrival to the departure was attentive, caring and genuinely wanted to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Highly recommended staying at this resort, it was a great time

We had a really great stay at The Reserve for our anniversary. It was our first time in Madeira and I think we picked the perfect hotel to experience it. What really stood out was the service. From having someone meet us right off the plane, to the private check-in, to being able to WhatsApp the team whenever we needed something, everything was just easy. The GEPA team helped us with restaurant recommendations, a rental car, room service and pretty much anything else we threw at them. Our Corner Pool Suite was beautiful, with an amazing view, and housekeeping was honestly exceptional. We also loved breakfast at Jacarandá, the spa, and the Manager’s Cocktail where we got to meet Cristina and learn a bit more about the hotel. But it’s really the people that made the stay. Nicole was wonderful, João somehow put us in a good mood every time we saw him, and there were so many little moments where you could tell the staff genuinely cared about our experience. One recommendation if you’re staying here: rent a car directly through the hotel and explore the island on your own. The process was incredibly easy. Definitely do the PR6 25 Fontes hike and make time for Fanal Forest. Both ended up being highlights of our trip and having the car gave us the freedom to experience Madeira at our own pace.
