The Reserve

Staying here truly feels like being in heaven. Every little touch feels so special and thoughtful, making you feel genuinely cared for from the moment you arrive. The entire team is incredibly warm, kind, and welcoming 🙏 you can truly feel the warmth in every interaction.

We came from New Jersey in September 2026 with our three year old daughter to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary and enjoy a babymoon before welcoming our second child. The Reserve made it a very special family trip. The care began outside the aircraft, where someone greeted us with a welcome board, guided us through customs and airport formalities, handled our baggage, and escorted us to our car. With my pregnant wife and young daughter, that assistance made a real difference. Our host, Marianna, arranged a tent and coloring book for our daughter, who was absolutely delighted. Beatrice from the Guest Experience Personal Assistant (GEPA) team offered excellent recommendations. Beatriz and Diego at the kids’ club organized a magic workshop that our daughter participated in and raved about afterward. Margarita deserves particular thanks for arriving at 7 a.m. on our departure day to help with checkout and ensure breakfast was packed ahead of the kitchen’s usual opening time. The thoughtfulness continued right through our departure. We loved our room, breakfasts, pools, and spa experiences. Our balcony was particularly beautiful at night, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. We enjoyed being there so much that it was a struggle to leave the room for dinner. We mainly lounged by the pool, taking private tours on alternate days with John, arranged by the GEPA team. Approximately four-hour outings, with photograph stops and without strenuous walking, let us explore Madeira’s spectacular scenery—especially in the north—at a pace that suited our family. Marianna from the GEPA team and Beatriz at the kids’ club recommended Restaurante Santo António. We loved the grilled chicken skewers and atmosphere so much that we had dinner there three times during our stay. We have enjoyed luxury resort vacations across North America, Mexico, Asia, and the Caribbean, with Esperanza in Los Cabos and Banyan Tree Koh Samui among our favorites. For our family, the complete experience of The Reserve and Madeira surpassed both. For New York and New Jersey travelers, Madeira paired with The Reserve is a serious rival to Hawaii paired with a top luxury resort. The scenery, food, sightseeing, and personal service felt like the kind of vacation we would expect to spend much more on. Our roughly six-hour nonstop flight from Newark added to the appeal. The main area for improvement was food and drink service at the shared outdoor pool: it was very slow every day we used it, with very few staff available. This fell short of the service within The Reserve. The lobby also felt warmer than comfortable. Cristina, you deserve credit for leading a team that made us feel like royalty through these thoughtful, personal gestures. Our daughter’s happiness mattered, and we could relax knowing we were well looked after. Please share our appreciation with everyone involved, including those behind the scenes.
