Das Mooswald Hotel

Hotel a byt, kde jsme zůstali, pro nás byly dost dobré. Není to fantastické místo, ale věci byly přátelské a my jsme tam měli dobrý pobyt. Bazén a sauna jsou velmi dobré a můžete si opravdu odpočinout. Dobrá snídaně.

We stayed only one night at the hotel (we arrived late in the evening and left after breakfast), so we didn’t have time to check the pool etc. Our room was a bit outdated but spacious. The bed was too short for me (I’m 6’5” / almost 200 cm) and the bed made annoying squeaking noise every time I moved. The breakfast was decent but nothing spectacular.

The worst place I've stayed in a long, long time. Ugly, old fashioned, uncomfortable rooms. Terrible brown décor. Rude owner. Slowest internet in the history of mankind. They put us in the room facing the road - despite the hotel being fairly empty - and it was noisy, a lot of cars passing through the whole night. Bathroom is terrible: it was impossible to shower - the shower head had to be held in the hand as there was nowhere to hang it. No shower curtain in the bathroom, hair dryer didn't work. Bathroom had one tiny cracked wall lamp with one of the two light bulbs not working. One tiny piece of soap for two people and not replaced next day. There is a restaurant onsite with limited menu, alright quality. Sauna is mixed, no changing rooms, shower with glass walls - zero privacy. No changing area in the swimming pool either. Bathrobes are promised but we didn't get any. Owner's reaction to complaints was - it's your problem. So - don't give them any business.

The booking went wrong, much confusion between hotel and the appartment they offer as well, but this is in an isolated house a few hundred meters from the hotel. There is no elevator which is very inconvenient for elderly. Breakfast was supposed to be served in the hotel and not in the appartment building. You will only get this information if you are on site. We decided to switch to the hotel for that reason. Got room 209, as such OK but the bathroom is bad with a persistent smell, probably due to malfunctioning of a valve in the waste pipe. The quality of the bed is marginally acceptable. Overall the hotel is behind in maintenance, reflected in damaged paint on several places, and more importantly the WIFI system is only functioning very close to the router near the reception desk. All rooms lack internet.

on my trip back to Germany, we decided to have a break in Obsteig and take time for a little bite in the restaurant. The food was OK but nothing out of this world, the service however excellent ! We've known the hotel in its earlier days, the decoration is sort of outdated.....
