Alexandros Palace Hotel & Suites

I honestly don’t understand how this hotel has a 5-star rating - in my opinion it deserves at most 3 stars. The food was consistently poor. If you like pork, you’ll never go hungry, as it appeared on the menu every single day, along with chicken on repeat. The pasta was the same type every day, and the One of the side options were fries or potatoes that weren’t even properly cooked in the oven. The one bright spot was the guy making pizza, who was excellent - the hotel should consider making him chef . Thanks to him we were able to eat at least . On top of this, our room was advertised as having a sofa bed suitable for a third guest, but in reality it was just a slightly wider sofa, jammed against the window on one side with no room to move. It was completely unsuitable to sleep on. To their credit, after we raised it repeatedly, they did change the sofa bed setup on the third day - but it shouldn’t take that long to fix something guests are paying for from day one. Overall this hotel was a real disappointment. The staff were pleasant On the positive side, the rooms themselves were spacious.

Five-star resort, but where was the concern for guest safety? I will not comment on the food or rooms. My experience was overshadowed by a serious safety incident that I believe future guests should know about. While walking on the main road leading to the reception, I stepped on a medical syringe needle that became stuck in my toe. This happened inside the resort grounds. I reported the incident immediately. What followed was, in my opinion, even more disappointing: not a single apology from management, not a phone call to check if I was okay, and not even an offer to help with the medical expenses. I had to see doctors, receive a tetanus vaccination, and take antibiotics because of this incident. I understand that accidents can happen. What I cannot understand is the complete lack of concern afterward. When a guest is injured by a medical needle on your property, the absolute minimum a five-star resort should provide is an apology, genuine concern, and responsibility. Instead, I felt completely left on my own. A five-star resort should make guests feel safe. After this incident and the way it was handled, I would honestly have expected more concern from the owners of a small private apartment than I received from the management of a five-star resort. Five stars should not only be about the rooms and facilities. Guest safety and how you treat people when something goes wrong matter just as much.

We totally loved our stay at Alexandros Palace in Halkidiki. We stayed for a week from 16th June 2026 and the weather was a steady 27-30 degrees. Our little party included myself, my wife and our 4 year old daughter so for context, we were looking for good food, a comfortable room, modern pool areas and a friendly/relaxed vibe. Before the good stuff, I have to mention two things – the transfer time from Thessaloniki Airport is about 2.5 hrs so just be prepared for that (we actually got dropped off half way down and then taken by mini bus the second half). Also we weren’t a fan of people smoking across the public spaces of the hotel. But those two small things aside… Staff – absolutely excellent. Most notably Babis, pool barman, was incredibly friendly and wonderful with our daughter. So humble and charming, a credit to the hotel and a truly special person. Orgito, barman, was great fun and really made us feel welcome every time we saw him. Christina, receptionist (in fact all the reception team were helpful and lovely) went out of her way to make our daughter feel at home. The people of this hotel make it the welcoming place it is. Also we want to highlight the lady Maitre D’ who was warm and welcoming every night, again making us feel right at home whenever we visited the restaurant. The room – initially we took a bit of time to get the a/c working but otherwise it was a comfortable garden balcony room with a handy little fridge for water bottles etc and a reasonable sized shower and bathroom. The beds were all fairly firm but didn’t cause any discomfort. We like a bit of local wildlife and the swooping swallows/house martins were a real treat everyday. Restaurant – the selection was plenty enough for us for a week and was always fresh and being attended to by the busy staff. We are vegetarian and were very happy with the selection of Greek salad e.g. lush tomatoes, cucumber and feta. There was pretty much always something nice like freshly cooked pizza, pasta dishes and the ever present trays of fries. Desserts were ice cream or getafi in its various forms. Never disappointed. The seating was either outside overlooking the pool (our favourite place) or inside near the buffet. Either was good and always well looked after by the waiting staff. Pools – we mainly used the adult pool by the front of the hotel. It was never too busy and beds were always free. The bar is right next to it with Babis the excellent barman sorting you out. It was glorious. The other main pool by the children’s pool was also really good with plenty of beds to choose from. It has entertainment fairly regularly (although that’s not our thing). The kids’ pool/mini water park was excellent. It has three short slides, a water gun and a huge bucket that tips a ton of water over everything and was more than enough for our 4 year old. Beach – there is a 4-5 minute walk down through some public gardens (with kids play area) which features a rather cool and unusual subway/underpass under the main road which has local artwork on the walls. Really nice little beach looking across to Ammouliani Island (a ferry trip away). We strolled down here a few times and it has a handy beach bar although as we were all inclusive we didn’t eat here. So sad to leave this amazing hotel with its terrific staff who worked so hard to make our stay feel special. They even had the World Cup matches on every night in the lobby bar so I didn’t miss that either! Thank you so much Alexandros Palace!

It was a vacation to remember for sure. Keep up with your thing you are on good way. Beach perfect... bar on the beach perfect. And my advice is to keep your good workers they sure made us vacation more better. Big hugs and support for Dima and Vangelij. If they are not at the beach bar it will be sad.

I found myself spending hours between the beach, the pool, and the outdoor seating areas without ever feeling bored. The environment naturally encourages relaxation, and there was always somewhere pleasant to sit and enjoy the scenery.
