Recently returned from a family holiday and this hotel is a mixed bag, having stayed here a couple of times we hoped coming a different time of the year would enhance the experience of this holiday however.... the weather which cannot be controlled was very hit and miss one day we had rain next day it was very hot next day it was very windy with thunder all afternoon, but that's what you get when you go in May. The good: Refurbishment of the swimming pool tiles - great improvement Covers on the beach sun loungers - great improvement New chairs and sofas on the balcony's - great improvement Could be improved: Atmosphere - The entertainment is lacking alot, we appreciate this is May however the hotel was busy, there were days when their was no entertainment, the roof top terrace is not open, their was no Greek night BBQ no Greek night dancers like we have had before. The food of the night was not always advised, which is difficult with fussy eaters. The food set up is self service buffet the same with seating arrangements you seat yourself needs to be made clearer at the time of check in. Room cleanliness was lacking - we asked for a additional hand towel more then once and this was only received 2 days of a 9 day visit. The hotel room is not cleaned thoroughly this needs to be improved, the toilet pan had not been cleaned on the outside everyday i did this myself, same with cleaning of the mirrors, in a 5 star hotel i would expect better. The rooms - The room we stayed in, had no door knob to the wardrobe, broken toilet seat, temperature of hot water, issue with socket coming clean out of the wall next to the bed in the loft room exposing live wires, shower head faulty, gap between the shower unit and tiles exposing a hole and plug socket next to sink raised from the wall faulty, reported on more then one occasion nothing got done about any of it. The Aqua sports - not directly linked to the hotel but offers free non motorised sports does not open until 11am during the week due to the season bit poor could have been communicated. The great bits: The A La Carte - every room gets a free ticket to go to the A La Carte restaurant which costs you nothing, the experience, the food and the ambiance is fantastic - Yiannis is brilliant he works very hard and cares truly about this restaurant and the service given to the customers would highly recommend you use this ticket you go to the A La Carte restaurant during the day which is behind the beach bar and book your time and day. It costs you nothing. The staff - Vladka, Yiannis, Pavlos, Sofia, Dimtris, Nikos, Stellios all brilliant staff members will go out of their way to hep you, nothing is too much trouble. Location - One of the safest areas we have visited, although their are not restaurants nearby by if you are half board, the centre of nea moudania is only a taxi ride away, the centre is brilliant for gifts, socialising with the locals and enjoying the local culture. Afytos - Well worth a visit, you can get to Afytos either by coach via your tour operator or by hiring a taxi costs us 50 euros each way but the scenery the shops and the experience is second to none would highly recommend going. The shops stay open until 11pm. The not so good: Service in the dining area, very poor, no organisation, lack of staff, waited 15 minutes for 2 hot drinks on more then one occasion. The hotel at this point was not full, don't know what the service will be like a peak season. Saw two staff members literally running back and forth with other staff laughing. Not what you would expect in a 5 star hotel Full wine list not available in the restaurant - the staff tend to serve up the cheapest wine which is not great. On more then one night we saw staff arguing in the restaurant at the hotel manager, stating its not fair we have to work twice as hard as some of the other staff, the entertainer was also arguing with the hotel manager, then in reception one of the receptionist was arguing with the security guard in front of customers and children not a great advert for the hotel. The restaurant manager is leaning in the corner with occasional works not doing his job. Dine in Dine out option - never heard of this before but whilst having lunch a group of 4 people who stayed at this hotel last year opted to stay at the Portes Beach hotel which is a 4 star hotel, but came into the dinner hall and asked the restaurant manager if they they could eat here today, he replied " in normal circumstances no, but today yes", i raised this to reception and to the client relations manager who said that people who are staying in other local Portes hotels can eat in other Portes hotel restaurants this i might add is not stated anywhere.... The restaurant manager knew i was not happy and asked why, i responded we have paid for a 5 star stay these other people have not yet they can eat at a 5 star hotel and he said yes that's correct its not his decision but the hotel owners, but i could go and eat in the other Portes restaurant but i pointed out why would we as its a 4 star? If this option is widely known the hotel dining area would be full of other non guests coming in from the 4 star hotel. Late checkout - we requested this a week before leaving however we were advised the room we were in could only be reserved until 3pm as they had guests coming at 5pm, and the hotel was full. This was incorrect i went on their website and could reserve this type of room for today. Clearly the hotel like to be un-accommodating. Amenities: The hotel offers a free gym which you have to book at reception free shuttle bus which you have to book at reception free A La Carte - book at the A La Carte restaurant Hotel shop on the ground floor great prices great availability of products Local shops nearby on the campsite and also just before Potidea Palace only a 10 minute walk Free celebration cakes - just ask at reception Free non motorised sports - go to the Aqua centre to the right of the hotel between 11 - 5pm Just to note: Their is a new hotel next door being built, not much noise as near completion. The sea this time of the year is not particularly warm and has a strong under current Wear beach shoes, getting in and out of the sea their are a lot of rocks saw people falling into the sea.
Nemalé překvapení vás čeká u bazénu,když zjistíte,že z přilehlého kempu si bez ostychu zaberou lehátka a využívají i služeb baru.
Yassas ! The Porthos Lithos Hotel is superb. It's not huge and the facilities are excellent. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are well appointed and very clean. Yannis is a very friendly and helpful manager who is always approachable as are all his "boys and girls," as he calls them. Entertainment is very good and the Spa is outstanding. Karen (male) the masseur is probably the best I've encountered, particularly for deep muscle problems. I saw him 5 times in a week and we'll worth the money. The pool area is wonderful and always clean. My only criticism is access/ exit is difficult for more elderly or disabled as the are only poolside ladders which do not go to the bottom of the pool. I mentioned this to the manager and he said it was being addressed for next year with a possible slope. Car Hire can be done through the hotel reception and is very reasonable in price. We rented a Toyota Aygo for 250 Euros with unlimited mileage. It's well worth it to see the locality. We did two peninsulas as circular trips stopping off at various points. A very nice holiday mainly thanks to the wonderful and friendly staff. Effcharisto ! This overall, is a wonderful place to stay
This is honestly one of the nicest holidays we have ever had. The resort was outstanding, clean, very nicely appointed with modern decor and facilities. We had a loft maisonette apartment which had the largest private roof terrace we’ve ever seen in a hotel. It had two incredibly sturdy and comfortable sun loungers, two comfy chairs and a settee, as well as a couple of tables under a sun shaded area. Two showers and two loos/sinks (one on each floor) made for very convenient use. We stayed half board and the food was stunning. Delicious and fresh, always hot and refreshed often at every service, it was difficult to choose between the many options! Fresh fruit available at every meal too and the desserts were beautiful as well as tasty. As if all this wasn’t enough, there’s a private beach with free sunbeds, an à la carte restaurant (which we didn’t use as the buffet service was so good!) and various classes (eg Pilates, yoga and water aerobics) every day (except Sunday). There was also a really well appointed gym and small mini market on site. However, probably the best bit of the whole stay were the fantastic staff. Not a miserable face to be seen, lovely welcoming smiles and a greeting from all of them and they made us feel recognised and welcome every interaction. Just a side note, my husband took an allergic reaction to something while we were there and staff called us a taxi to the local medical centre where we were seen quickly but due to some underlying health issues, they referred us to the nearest big hospital which was 25 minute drive away. Another taxi and we arrived there to again be seen very quickly and even including taxi drives, were seen and had prescriptions within two hours. We had our EHIC cards with us so apart from the prescriptions (and taxi fares!), consultation and treatment was free. Special mention to Giannis, Katerina and Kostas in the restaurant for great service with a smile and Maria, Gogo and Stergios at reception for their help and good humour. We definitely hope to return.
