Avithos Resort

First of all, the entire GROUNDS are well kept & ROOMS are lovely & super clean. Nice POOL, bit dated in its appearance but can’t knock it other than waaaay too many sunbeds crammed tightly next to one another. I’ll keep the dislikes simple. I’m well travelled but have NEVER stayed in a hotel that charges for fresh bathroom or pool TOWELS… €20!!! That’s outrageous greed right there, ESPECIALLY when you’re paying £500 plus per night!!! Arrived & Christina the receptionist who is quite cold & unhelpful with just about everyone just gave us the key & pointed in the general direction we needed to head, no info whatsoever on facilities etc, she most definitely is not a people person & being front of house is also most definitely not the job she should be in. However, in sharp contrast, Stella who takes over for the evening shift is a ball of happiness & shows every arriving guest around the grounds & to their room. There’s a lot to dislike IMO & if I was asked I’d certainly say book elsewhere. The hotel has no sense of identity & lacks warmth, the staff are largely the same, particularly Miss Trunchball behind the pool bar, god forbid she’d crack a smile or engage in a conversation, it wouldn’t surprise me if the staff are instructed not to speak to guests. FOOD is awful & massively overpriced, club sandwich with virtually nothing in it for best part of €20, I thought I was in Mykonos!

I wouldn’t say this is more like a 3 star resort! The only person that was friendly was the blonde lady behind reception Christine! When we arrived late on Monday we had to lug our cases upstairs to our room the lady that checked us in couldn’t be bothered and said come back in the morning for a map! The room was small but more worrying full of damp patches room 201 When I went to ask about keeping our room on or a late check out the lady (again dark hair) was on a call had me wait and didn’t even end the call to her friend but basically cut me short and said no! She was rude The bar staff don’t look very happy and you bearly get a look let alone a thank you I wouldn’t recommend this resort nor would I return You really need to sort out your receptionist and the marks in the room!

We stayed for 7 nights and overall had a really enjoyable stay. Our room, 110, was a good size and had a lovely patio. There was plenty of hanging space, although drawers were definitely lacking. The room had a hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and tea and coffee-making facilities. Unfortunately, the tea and coffee weren’t replenished during our stay. Towels were changed every three days, including pool towels, although the dirty pool towels weren’t removed. There was a good selection of toiletries. One of the unexpected highlights was discovering that we had a family of tortoises living outside our room! 🐢 They became our little neighbours and were definitely quieter than some of the human guests! The hotel itself was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The pool was a good size, with a smaller children’s pool. There were lots of children using it, so it could get quite loud and boisterous at times, but with temperatures reaching around 36°C (feeling closer to 40°C), the pool was an absolute godsend. The pool bar was clean and the staff were friendly. Prices were typical hotel prices — around €5 for a Diet Coke and €15 for a Bramble cocktail. The main downside for us was the location. It’s at least a 15-minute walk to the supermarket and restaurants, and in the heat it felt considerably longer! There are a couple of bars about the same distance away, so a taxi is worth considering if you don’t fancy the walk. Google Maps and TripAdvisor were invaluable for finding places to visit and eat, and I would definitely recommend booking restaurants and excursions in advance. We visited Dum Spiro Spero and Esperides, which we enjoyed, but Crazy George’s didn’t really impress us. Sarris Winery is definitely worth the walk — €5 for a glass of wine in beautiful surroundings was excellent value. One of the highlights of the holiday was the Sea and Sun boat trip with Ace Travel/Jet2 on The Queen Bee from Argostoli harbour. It cost €75 each for the day and was worth every penny. We were picked up from a bus stop close to the hotel and dropped back at the hotel around 5pm, which made it really easy. We also took a taxi back to Argostoli two days later for an evening and would highly recommend doing this. The hotel arranged the taxi for €20, and the taxi back from the square was €25. We ate at Van de Rossa on the harbour front, which was fabulous and definitely worth a visit. Overall A lovely, clean and friendly hotel with a good pool and helpful staff. The location means you need to be prepared for some walking, particularly in the heat, but taxis are easy enough to arrange and there are plenty of great places to explore. We’d definitely recommend the hotel — and if you get room 110, look out for the tortoise family! 🐢

We went here for 5 days , the hotel it self is very nice ,we had a ground floor room with a patio so when we went back to the room we liked to sit outside as it was so pleasant. Lots of wardrobe space and a decent amount of hangers . Complimentary Tea and coffee situation could have been better . The pool area was lovely and always enough sunbeds ,pool bar was good their chips are really popular for good reason. Now the negatives, its a bit isolated , we did walk to a couple of restaurants in the evening but the roads are very dark and when a car comes by you have to be careful ,it would have been nice if there were a bit more life to walk to rather than just a couple of restaurants that didn't have any holiday atmosphere.

We had the most wonderful stay at Avithos Resort and honestly didn't want to leave. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome by the incredibly friendly and caring staff, who couldn't do enough to make our stay special. Their genuine kindness and hospitality really stood out and made all the difference. The resort itself is absolutely beautiful—peaceful, immaculately maintained, and surrounded by lovely gardens. It was the perfect place to relax after a day exploring Kefalonia. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a fantastic stay including a fully stocked kitchen. Breakfast was amazing. It was truly bountiful, with an excellent selection of fresh, delicious food that catered to every taste. It was the perfect way to start each morning before heading out to explore the island. We also loved the location in the little village of Svoronata. It has such a relaxed, authentic feel, with local tavernas nearby and some gorgeous beaches just a short walk or drive away. Returning to the resort each afternoon to relax by the pool was a real treat. Make sure to visit the six little turtles that freely roam one of the little gardens. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Avithos Resort for making our holiday so memorable. We left with wonderful memories and are already looking forward to our next visit. If you're planning a trip to Kefalonia, we can't recommend Avithos Resort highly enough—it truly is a little slice of paradise.
