Bessie's Village

Bessies Village is a short transfer from the airport, actually timed it & it was 4 mins. We checked in at reception & was allocated room B5 on the ground floor. The maid was still on with our room so we had a cold drink at the pool bar until the room was ready. Once in our room we found it spacious & mostly clean but a couple of issues with the cleanliness of the bathroom & kitchen utensils, but this was swiftly rectified after a word with reception. Beds were comfy & bed sheets clean, but not changed very often. Shower was always hot & powerful enough. Towels weren't changed that often to. The maid came often enough & changed the bin & swooshed a dry mop around the floor. The kitchen area has enough for self catering if that's what you want, but could do with a bit more cutlery & maybe a toaster or microwave. We normally manage without air conditioning but found it really hot as the week went on so we asked at reception if we could have it for the remainder of our stay which we did. Pool bar has a good menu & choice of refreshments. Pool itself is clean & surprisingly not a shock to the system when entering the water. Obviously it was early August & a lot of families & inflatables kept the pool busy, but it is open until 8pm if you want it quieter later. The grounds around the complex are kept tidy & look magnificent. The exterior of some of the apartments could do with a lick of paint. Now my wife & I are fit & in our early sixties & had no problem getting around the resort. Ive read that some people struggle, I imagine those with 'MOBILITY ' issues that seem to find it a struggle getting around but once around the pool with a beer & a vape are revitalised . The local shop was at the end of the street to your right & only 5 mins walk away (slight short incline) that had a taverna next to it. The nearest beach 'Ammis' was only 5 mins stroll away on your left of the street, didn't rate that beach much. Another 35 min walk & you reach AI Helis Beach , much nicer but the day we went , the beds were either occupied or the remaining were reserved. Also a number of tavernas heading that way. The harbour was only 15 mins away which we had a fabulous boat trip from. Further up after the harbour maybe 25 mins away from Bessie's are a couple more tavernas & bars. Like others have said, building work going on & planes overhead, but didn't bother us. Once the first plane came over in the morning, we dug ourselves out of the trenches & made ourselves welcome to the locals & carried on with our day 🙂 Overall, Bessie's is a 2 star establishment, so don't expect too much more. It could do with a little face-lift to tidy it up. We got a cheap last minute deal, so couldn't really complain. You get what you pay for. I think once the new 5 star hotel getting built in front of the complex is finished , Bessie's will have to up her game to not look out of place. Staff extremely helpful. Would stay again?

Spent 10 days at bessies, loved it!! Our accommodation was great, pool was awesome and the staff were always very friendly, great location being so close to the beach

We had a great time at Bessie's the pool area was lovely and relaxing we enjoyed the music. Really friendly staff we enjoyed snacks at the pool bar. Its a beautiful area. Gorgeous sunsets at the local restaurants. We travelled on the bus to Argostoli for an evening out. Also went to lassi beach a couple of times. The water was crystal clear and lots of water sports on offer. The room was a good size. Could do with updating but we knew it was 2 star. Huge balcony to sit out on. Hope to return one day. We grabbed a last minute cheap break and were pleasantly surprised. Within walking distance of a beach and a handful restaurants and a supermarket. Be warned it is on a steep hill which you have to use wherever you go . Nice snack bar and clean pool exceptionally near to the airport so a lot of planes flying over it . Beds were comfy , bedding changed about every 3 days . Bins emptied everyday but very little else done,place wasnt gleaming,stairs definitelyneeded a sweep .Kitchenette not very well equipped but we dont go on holiday to cook meals . Kefalonia is big (as Greek Islands go ) We caught a bus into town it runs on a circular circuit bus stop is close to the hotel but decided to hire a car which we did locally to the hotel easy to do and cheap Wouldwe return ? possibly but not for 2 weeks as not a lot to do locally . Have rated it taking into consideration what we paid otherwise would have given it 3 stars

This was our second visit ..last year was great,loved it,..sadly due to noise,dust,and zero privacy due to a v large construction taking place literally 10-15yds from patio area it was horrible,its 12 hrs a day 7 days a week,only privacy was if you shut the curtains and kept door shut,removing almost all natural light,it was like living in a container unit,we were offered a different room but the whole of the site is effected to a greater or lesser degree,and the room we were offered was by car park at village entrance..so no privacy again The staff were sympathetic..I think they've heard it man many times already Reported it to TUI..no response and pointed out they should warn people as this building is going on all year,and early season next year Safe to say we won't be going back,as that lovely little beach is likely to be ram packed the amount of people this new build will accommodate
