The hotel was absolutely stunning and I had no words when I first saw the main pool. It’s absolutely huge, has a backdrop of the mountains and is spotlessly clean at all times. The sunbeds are lovely and comfy and not once did we struggle to find one free. The rooms were lovely - we had a junior suite forest view with private pool. This was on the ground floor which usually I wouldn’t like but I wouldn’t have even noticed we were on the ground floor, the terrace/pool was lovely and private (I’d say more garden view than forest view) and the room was amazing. The layout was great and the bed was very comfortable. We had a few small issues during our stay which made it clear to us why the hotel is 4 stars and not 5 stars. First of all; the food. Extremely disappointing. The breakfast had limited options and not everything was labelled which would make it difficult for fussy eaters or people with allergies/intolerances. Everything (and I mean everything) was covered in wasps. They were everywhere. I could cope with them if they weren’t all over the food. How hard is it to cover the food so wasps can’t get to them? It was also hard to enjoy our meals when we were constantly batting them away so maybe the restaurant area would benefit from some insect repellent candles on each table, as it was clear that all guests were getting frustrated with the constant batting. We were also very disappointed that we didn’t get offered a coffee with breakfast - they had an egg menu but no coffee menu?! They serve coffee on the daytime drinks menu at the bar so why not offer it at breakfast? It would’ve made the experience a lot better if we didn’t have to drink machine made coffee. It’s not hard. Now onto dinner… we were half board so had already paid for dinner to be included each night. The first night we arrived at dinner and were told to help ourselves to the salad bar before they bring over the a la carte menu, so we did just that. When they eventually bought over the menu, it had 6 options on it (image attached) but we were told there were only 3 options left; 2 fish dishes and a veggie lasagne. Neither of us eat fish. We were very disappointed that we weren’t told this before we had started on the salad bar. We told the waiter we’d be leaving to eat elsewhere, at which point he said they’d managed to find some steaks for us (where on earth did they magic them up from?!). So we reluctantly ordered the steak, I ordered mine medium and when it arrived it was so rare I couldn’t eat it. The chips were DRENCHED in vinegar so I couldn’t eat them either. So this night, I had salad and dessert for my dinner. We didn’t eat again at this restaurant because we were so disappointed and didn’t want to waste our time going back. We also noticed that dinner was supposed to be served until 10:30pm but all of the salad bar/desserts were packed away at 9:15pm each night, which meant if you wanted a late dinner; you simply couldn’t. We wasted a huge amount of money eating out at other places after already paying for our food at the hotel. I would highly recommend NOT going half board. How hard is it to cater for the amount of guests you have? There’s a lovely restaurant on the local beach front called Denis that we would recommend instead. Secondly; the housekeeping could have been a bit better. For the most part, they did a great job. On one of the days we were in our room when they arrived so we asked them nicely if they’d mind coming back later at around 4pm, but they never came back so we had a couple days without any housekeeping. They’d also come into our rooms at random times (quite late when we were out having dinner) just to empty the bin, which I found a bit strange. They weren’t very good at replenishing toiletries, they’d replenish things we already had plenty of and then leave us with no body wash and shampoo, which we had to ask for more of on a few occasions. Other than these two downfalls, we had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend staying here if you don’t go half board. The hotel is beautiful but in quite a remote area so you’d definitely need to hire a car if you want to go anywhere. They have free parking for guests which is very handy.
A very relaxing, calm & peaceful stay. Feeling very rested & ready to go again. The surroundings, the flowers & the view of the mountain backdrop were stunning. I love swimming for fitness and this pool is the longest one I’ve ever swam in at a hotel. It’s really pristine and the aesthetics are very lovely. I would definitely recommend the relaxing massage and jacuzzi. The lady at the spa is very good. Also there’s a reasonable sized gym. We had a hire car which was great for trips out to explore the island.
Hotel is nice, rooms are very nice with balconies and private plunge pools. The main pool was also very nice and there was always sun beds available every day at all times. As others say the food is a let down. Very limited choices repeated every day. I emailed 3 times in advance and asked on arrival about vegan options for myself. Despite being advised I’d have choices it was incredibly limited. I was offered pasta every day at dinner. Nothing is labelled with ingredients or allergens. In the end I got bored of the choices and we ate out a lot. The local tavernas were all very nice and had options for me. As previously mentioned the wasps are a real issue and quite off putting on the many food items which aren’t covered House keeping was a little hit and miss The spa treatments were excellent and the lady providing them was lovely. There is absolutely no entertainment at all, which makes for a very peaceful holiday if that’s what you’re after, but even an hour of live music in the evening would have been nice. A car is strongly recommended to sightsee and to get to restaurants. 2 are within walking distance but it’s very hilly.
We booked this as it was an Adult’s Only hotel. We hoped it would be quiet and we weren’t disappointed. It was FABULOUS. The rooms, pools and facilities were perfect. We fully look forward to rebooking soon.
The hotel is stunning, clean and the staff good. However, the food and standards of Half Board, let it down. Everywhere we've went half board, you get breakfast and either lunch or dinner. Not here. You get breakfast and a few main courses for dinner with potatoes, vegetables or rice. Lunch and cocktails very overpriced. The salad bar and starters before dinner are poor for quality and choice. Same with desserts. No tea or coffee with evening meal. Breakfast is infested with wasps that you spend the while time batting away that breakfast and even lunch is not an enjoyable experience. Dishes left uncovered and lay out for hours. We paid for half board but ate out mostly. Quite remote, car required, or taxi is 35 Euros into Argostoli. Denis restaurant great as is the beach and staff, 10 Euros each for a sunbed. Restaurant Gefiri also very good with great staff. All in all a good hotel but they need to improve on staffing levels, food quality, staff training and the owners smile back at guests when they smile and say hello. You could tell staff were needing a day off and something with the way it's managed not quite right. Beautiful hotel nonetheless, if you do your own thing for food etc.
