Just back from a 11 day stay ....there is much more good than bad about this hotel! Staff: The staff are all great! Hotel: It is a typical TUI 4 star .... by this I mean probably more like a good 3 star, but clean, comfortable & maybe a bit dated. Only minor negative is public loo's around bar & pool could be cleaned more regularly ... not terrible, but could be better! Food: The food is fine if not good, any reviews that say otherwise I would ignore. The chefs are constantly rotating the food to keep it hot, an if something is missing you just have to ask & they will get it. The food is clearly labelled to if you have allergies it is easy. Themed nights are best food, but all is fine, there is always something nice. The 'always the same food' reviews must refer to the salad bar, it is true that is there for every lunch & evening meal (as are freshly baked Pizza's) but there are plenty of other choice. Drink: All inclusive choice is better than most :-) Location: Only 30 minutes from the airport, but Marmari feels a bit remote, there is a great beach, a couple of restaurants, car hire outlets, excursion providers, two supermarkets & a chemist ... that is it! There is a Bus to Kos roughly every 90 minutes, it takes about 35 minutes to get there. Excursions: Buy them from the providers in Marmari (cheaper & you are often on the same coach, but.... we hired a car for the day and went all across the island & there are beautiful views & beaches but not much else! Kos Town*, Kardamena & Zia are worth a visit, but the rest I would give a miss. *Check which day to go in as different places are closed on different days. Maybe 5 stars is a bit generous, but cant give 4.5! :-)

I was in the process of booking a stay at another hotel on Kos when the Tui web site issued Error 500. Calling their Rep, they realised the room I wanted was no longer available despite my having selected it 5 minutes before, so the Rep actually found me this hotel instead. This was a last minute availability in what turned out to be the last week of the season at this hotel. They were actually closing down 4 hours before our transportation was due to arrive, so no lunch was available. The instructions for the room safe were incomplete; the lock was so bad it could take up to as many as 6 attempts to get the safe to open or close - but typical average was 4 attempts. There was plenty of food in the restaurant, but often it was not hot enough, even if, as many did, we went as soon as the restaurant was opened. The shower didn't drain away properly, and the floor of the bathroom was dangerously slippy, without any 'grab' handles. There was a kettle in the room, but no supplies. We could 'purloin' tea bags from the restaurant, but not coffee sachets or powdered milk. There were plenty of self-service Douwe Egbert coffee machines scattered around the place, so we saw plenty of guests taking hot drinks back to their rooms. In room entertainment : BBC TV was advertised, was on the menu, but never available, so we were limited to Deutsche Welle English language news. The fridge contained a single bottle of water, and after that we were expected to buy refreshments from a local "supermarket", there being no hotel 'shop'. The bed was 'firm' - and very comfortable compared to some I've experienced. The Tui website warned us that we did not have the service of a Tui Rep - but in practice she came for a 2 hour period every morning & evening. There was free Wifi, but not secure and offering as low as 650 bps. Tui website said they had not yet done an "accessibility assessment" on this (and many other hotels). There were plenty of ramps to get around with, but at 15-20 degrees, I'm not sure an unassisted wheelchair would have managed them. As a guide, the distance on the flat from room to restaurant was 350-400 steps each way. The provision of toilet paper was a little parsimonious, leaving it until the end of the 2nd roll before being replenished. Of all the staff, Irine in the Restaurant was very eager to please and practice her English, and Tarik was very attentive with the wine.

We had a lovely time at this hotel at the beginning of October. Arrival- Gorgeous looking hotel, really nice chilled atmosphere. Lots of different places to chill out. Very friendly staff and so happy to give information about the hotel and kos. We went to the restaurant before it closed and the food was nice! Our room- It was very spacious, very clean and the decor was very nice. Our view was the pool next to reception and we often seen the chicken running around roaming the gardens. Food- Ignore any negative reviews. The food here was lovely. So fresh and constantly being replenished. The different themed nights were very good. My favourite was the greek, Indian and asian nights! The pizzas are the best I’ve had. Snack bar isnt great, they leave snacks in a refrigerated cabinet. It doesnt look appealing There are 2 pools, but we didnt go in them as we prefer the beach. They werent over crowded and the pool area and the beds looked like a nice place to relax, read a book and catch a tan. The entertainment, was very loud but once we were in our room we could not hear anything. Cats- we fell in love with all the cats on the grounds of the hotel. Some really cute characters! Things to do- Gorgeous sandy beach which is a 5 minute walk away. We rented a car from the company trust on the corner by the hotel. We explored the island and Zia is a huge recommendation if you love a sunset. It is a beautiful little village. Pay the 5 euros and walk up to the hammocks to watch the sun set and see the animals on the way up. Its really not that far. We went to tigaki tours down by the beach and booked our day trip to bodrum turkey. It was 40 euros each for a return, picked us up from the hotel, boat trip across to bodrum, bus tour around bodrum and time to explore the town and shop. What a stunning place and a lovely day out. 3 island cruise- 20 euros each- we sailed with Barco de pirata. Booked direct with them at the harbour. This was amazing, left around 9am and we were back by 5pm. This is a party boat with loud music, staff on board are very entertaining and cannot do enough to help. The lunch on board was nice. The islands were gorgeous! Crystal clear sea and plati was beautiful, this is where they inflate the slide off the boat and you can swim in the sea. Highly recommend a 3 island cruise. Peacock forest- This was a really good experience. Lots of peacocks, cats, ducklings and ducks. Overall what an amazing holiday! Beautiful hotel, gorgeous island and so much to see!

Overall a fantastic stay at Aegean Bay! We stayed here for 14 days in September and normally after a two week holiday I would be ready to go home but I would have happily stayed here for much longer! The staff from first point of contact at reception to the bar and waiting staff and the cleaners were all great. Always so friendly and helpful even though they work such long hours and sometimes have to deal with very rude guests. George managing the restaurant / bar is an absolute credit to the hotel and deserves a pay rise 😂 as he was always there from breakfast to last orders at the bar and so helpful. At busy times there was sometimes a very short wait for the tables and we witnessed people just trying to sit down or jump the queue but George would just calmly tell them no these people are next and I will find a table for you. I have been fortunate enough to stay at quite a few four star all inclusives and overall I think the food here was very good. It was not the biggest selection compared to some bigger resorts but there was always plenty of variety and the food was very fresh and definitely hotter compared to some of the cold / luke warm offerings in other resorts. The breakfast selection for someone who is not a big meat eater was good and the fresh pizzas at lunch and dinner were also great. The snack selection could have been improved though. The pool areas are lovely and kept very clean. We tended to stay at the quiet pool area but did the aqua once and nice to know that there was always a lot going on at the livelier pool if you wanted to join in. The main issue we had with the quieter pool was only a small amount of padded sunbeds and these were taken up from very early in the morning. More padded beds needed and also people were taking the padded covers off the larger beds to put on other ones which meant that those beds could not be used at all so this should be stopped by the lifeguards. There was also an issue of either being in the sun or the shade so I think more sunshades are essential, as a lot of people want to be in the sun but then have the option of a shade during hotter parts of the day. Pool towels were worst that we have ever had and not long enough to cover the beds, 5 euros for clean ones so don’t bother. Either take your own towels or buy a 6.99 one from the supermarket which was far better than the hotel one. The entertainment overall was good. Not always our cup of tea but pleasant enough to sit out by the pool and join in or have a drink. Take a cardigan or jacket though as scorching in the day but felt chilly at night even though still mid twenties. The Greek Night was by far the best entertainment so get out there early to get a good seat! Incredible dancers. Drink selection good but definitely need more non-alcoholic cocktails or drinks as despite being English we don’t all want to drink from morning until night! The non-alcoholic cocktails were described as ‘kids cocktails’ but with one drinker and one non drinker better non-alcoholic options would have been appreciated. Mamari in general very quiet but a few nice bars and restaurants including Fame bar up the road showing a lot of football if that is for you. We loved the fact that the beach was 5 minutes away and make sure you go on the swing at the beach and go to watch the beautiful sunset! The sea was incredible and we went swimming almost every day. Zia by night was a lovely trip. Glass bottom boat in Kos was also great. The bus from Marmari to Kos is so easy to get from around the corner from the hotel and there is lots to see and do in Kos. The rooms at Aegean Bay are nice and clean but fairly basic for four star standard. The major downfall was the bathroom! Designed like a wet room but it just meant that the bathroom floor was soaking wet the whole time and constantly having to try to mop up the water. No lock on the bathroom door was not good and as I was with family was fine but if I was with a partner would not have been comfortable with no working lock. If you opened the balcony door the bathroom door would open! There was also a smell of drains / sewage from the bathroom which was very noticeable once you came back into the room. So overall I would say it is a fantastic place to stay, I would definitely return but if a small amount was spent on improvements such as bathroom upgrades and more sunshades it would make the Aegean Bay Hotel an even better place to stay!xx
