Sun Palace Resort & Spa

V Kos jsem zažila fantastický týden, veškerý personál byl velice přátelský. Dobrá restaurace s velkým výběrem při snídani, obědě i večeři, vyjímečná zábava se spoustou aktivit během dne jak přes den u bazénu, tak přes noc na baru. Velice tento hotel doporučuji každému, mladým i starým, svobodným i těm s rodinou, je to zkrátka pro každého. Všichni animátoři tvrdě makali, aby se všichni bavili! Toto je můj druhý čas, který se koná v Sun Palace a určitě se budu opět vracet příští rok! Od pokoje a zařízení až po personál a služby opravdu získáte 5hvězdičkovou léčbu. Jídlo bylo úžasné a miloval jsem, že každý večer nabízeli jiný styl kuchyně. A samozřejmě stejně jako v loňském roce byl manažer Anastasia vždycky s velkým úsměvem, aby se ujistil, že jsou splněny všechny moje potřeby. Celkově jsem nemohl nechat hotel cítit spokojenější.

So we booked this holiday last minute and I must admit reading some of these reviews from UK guests, we were getting quite concerned. We needn’t have been. Let me put a few things straight. During our stay, guests were 60/40 French/English. Pretty much equal. The wristbands- they aren’t there for any segregation. They are there so staff speak to you in your language. Which they DID! Not all staff are French! Some are Greek. All staff are super friendly and helpful. The entertainment staff work tirelessly and during our stay (we’re still here actually and have 3 days left of our 10 days) they spoke first in French THEN in English. No problems at all understanding what was happening next with entertainment. If we were unsure, you know what we did? We asked😂 My hubby LOVES to take part in activities. He never once felt unwanted. He was part of teams that were all French sometimes and was included. It’s horrible to feel I have to mention this, but I just don’t want anyone to feel put off. I LOVED the food! I’m a foodie and we’ve travelled A LOT. We’ve been to Kos 10 times before in different parts of the island. The food we’ve had here has been the some of best we’ve had anywhere on the island. You’re in Greece- you’re eating authentic Greek food believe me. Wednesday ’Greek’ themed night was my fave. The lamb was to die for. Drinks: I found the wine perfect. Yes it was light, but that’s kinda what you need in the heat. Something to cool you down and taste refreshing. At the bar, the coke light which is what I was drinking (sometimes with rum and sometimes without) was really lovely. That nice old fashioned syrupy cola taste which I really liked. If the premixed cocktails aren’t for you then just have rum & coke, vodka & coke/lemonade or gin & tonic. Or beer. All very good if you ask me. By the bar there’s a cold water machine to help yourself to plus tea & coffee At 3:30ish by the bar, there are additional snacks laid on. Sandwiches, fruit, cakes, ice cream. Just take a plate and help yourself. Because we were unsure of what the drinks were gonna be like, we bought a bottle of scotch from the airport for our room. In the evening we’d take Coke back from the bar to room for a wee drink before bed. Our room was situated at the back on the ground floor. So private and quiet. Super spacious and the shower was awesome! So powerful! The cleaners are indeed fabulous and left our towels in nice patterns with flowers. Nice touch. We hopped on the bus outside the hotel at 9:45-am to take us to Kos Town. Beautiful day out. Kos Town is always a fave place of mine. €2 on the bus each way. No problems getting there and back. Others have said they’ve just paid for taxis. No biggy. But if you’ve never been to Kos before, I highly recommend exploring Kos Town at least. Last but not least- TAKE A TOWEL if u can fit it in your case. Towels for sun beds are available to hire with a €10 deposits each. Refunded at the end of holiday. This €10 has to be CASH. If like us you didn’t take cash🙈 there’s a little walk up the road to the ATM to draw out cash. I’m giving 4 out of 5 for these reasons- Everywhere was a teeny bit tired looking. It is in need of updating but it’s not in any way really bad. It’s just we’re comparing it to other resorts which are definitely 5 out of 5. Non of this took away our enjoyment of the holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We were able to relax, do activities, fill our bellies with beautiful food and get lovely nights sleep. A holiday is what you make of it at the end of the day. This hotel doesn’t deserve the bad reviews. Far from it. There’s nothing I would complain about. Cheers! I’m now getting back to watching my hubby play ‘corn hole’ whilst sipping my Coke light and rum by the pool. 😁

I thought I would write this while I am still here. It's too easy to forget once you get home and I wanted to make sure I gave it the thumbs up it deserves. I cannot fault this hotel. It's probably the best I have stayed in, and I have stayed in a lot! It's smaller than the larger resorts and has a much cosier feel to it. The entertainment is predominantly for the French guests but I didn't find this to be an issue. If you do like to get stuck in to quizz nights etc., you may feel a little left out but the entertainment staff do try to get everyone involved. The hotel staff are all English speaking and could not be friendlier. They greet you with a smile and hello at every stage. The rooms are wonderful and spotlessly clean! Good facilities. The fridge, aircon, shower all work and they are cleaned to a very high standard. I will be tipping the cleaners. They are so friendly! The food is truly excellent. Plenty of fish which I always look forward to. The meats are high quality and plenty of salad and other options. I did hear some English guests moaning about the English breakfast options but seriously, you shouldn't expect English bacon abroad! Why would you? Income away to experience different foods. The all inclusive drinks are pretty standard. Local spirits and beer (which is good). The wine isn't vintage lol but it's light, refreshing and easy drinking. All in all, I had a truly brilliant stay and cannot think of a single thing to criticise. Thank you for a great stay! And I have 3 more days to enjoy 👍

The hotel is contracted to TUI ‘s club Lookea business, marketed in France, the majority of guests are French and the animation team are obligated to meet their requirements. This is not made clear on TUI’s website. As an English guest the experience is that I didn’t understand most of the evening entertainment events as they are in French language and satisfying French cultural interests. The daily sports activities can be enjoyed, but as a UK guest you will have to push yourself forward to join in, you won’t be asked, & the instructions & conversations taking part will be in French. There is one English speaking animator who didn’t make much difference to the entertainment experience apart from a 20 question quiz on 2 evenings. I understand there’s been multiple complaints to TUI about this over the summer. The food is generally ok, mostly Greek cuisine but leans towards French tastes, eg different cheeses at every meal. I also found a lot of the food either very salty or very sweet. The drinks option is not 4*. Poor quality soft drinks. The 3 cocktails they make in bulk each day have largely run out by the evening & replaced by what tasted like over sweet squash & syrup. The wine is unpleasant. It’s boxed, bulk buy variety. The worst thing about the restaurant is that the hotel allows cats to roam around & be fed by guests. Guests encourage cats to jump on their lap & they hand feed them. I observed one guest let a cat eat from her plate. Outside the hotel is very little to do. One coffee shop 10 minutes walk away. It’s an hours walk to Kos town. One small very poorly stocked supermarket 10 minutes walk away. The hotel staff are lovely, pleasant & helpful. The hotel is very clean with housekeeping at a high standard.
