Almyrida Residence Boutique

Just returned from a 1 week stay at the Almyrida Residence. Overall, the hotel was very good, but a few minor niggles as well. Firstly, all the staff were excellent - very polite, friendly and professional. The main highlight was the buffet breakfast, as other reviews have mentioned. The choice is very good, with lots of hot and cold items, and is served in the roof-top bar, with fantastic views of the beach and mountains. We stayed in room 161, which was a junior suite. Some minor points here. Firstly, there was no wardrobe, just an open hanging rail, which was not ideal. There were only two small drawers - not enough - and some cupboards above the hanging rail which were far too high to be useful. There were only twoof us, and it was just about OK, but the suite is supposed to suit families as well - so no idea where the extra clothers could be stored. The room had two small, completely separate, balcony area. Each was too small, so we didn't use them at all. Cannot see how a family of four could use them at all. The air conditioning was very good, with two units, one in the bedroom and one in the lounge. However, they were almost too good - the room was either too cold or too warm. They were noisy as well, even on the lowest fan speed, so you couldn't really sleep with them on. We were on bed & breakfast so cannot comment on the evening buffet. This however is served at the sister Almyrida Beach hotel, just across the road. Almyrida has a really nice "feel" to it. Plenty of beach-side restaurants and two different beach areas. Some days seemed to be busier on the beach than others - not sure why. Four supermarkets in the village, but the best by far is El Greco, which is just beyond the bus stop. Lots of choice of everything. I am coeliac so need gluten free food. They sold GF bread and other GF snacks which was good. Infrequent bus service to Chania, via Kalives. One bus every 2 hours or so, but all seemed to run ok. 3.5 euros to Chania, 2.2 to Kalives (which has a nice beach). Two hire car companies in the village - competitive prices. All in all, we would go back to Almyrida and stay in the same place - but in a normal room not a suite.

Just returned home from our 14 night stay. Beautiful hotel! Incredible service! Stunning rooftop with infinity pool for breakfast every morning excellent quality food, nice cocktails in the evening. Lovely barman Paul always helpful and smiling. We were able to use the Almyrida beach hotel facilities and the swimming pool was perfect for our kids, a great pool and pool bar for drinks and snacks. Cleaning service in rooms exceptional standard and happy cleaners greeting us with a very happy ‘good morning’ !! every day and leaning fab towel art Theo on Almyrida residence reception was exceptional his friendly manner and knowledge was so welcomed. We found Almriyda overall to be a small place with good quality food in traditional tavernas and incredible views right on the sea. Good location overall and close to Chania which is a lovely city with old streets and nice shops for souvenirs. Worth a visit Beach at Kalyves was stunning and our go to, just a short drive away in car -10 mins. Fantastic hotel overall would highly recommend. Thank you to everyone for a fantastic stay

We chose the hotel for it's location and it didn't disappoint. Literally over the road from the beach, with beach beds available for hotel guests. We had a fantastic greeting from Theo, but all the staff were very friendly and helpful, including Anastasia in the restaurant and the super smiley housekeeping lady (didn't catch her name). We stayed for 10 nights and enjoyed cocktails at the roof bar most evenings. The rooms were superb, with excellent air conditioning and were kept immaculately clean by the housekeeping team. Breakfast on the roof was amazing with a huge selection. We stayed half board, so enjoyed the buffet dinner over the road at the Almyrida Beach Hotel, but also opted to eat at some of the local restaurants too. The only niggle would be trying to get a bed at either of the pools was difficult. Guests would put towels on the beds before breakfast at 8am, but then stay on the beds all day. There were options to use the pool over the road or the beach too. Almyrida village is only small, but everyone is very friendly. There are enough shops and restaurants and car hire is available there. There is also a public bus service along the coast. We would definitely visit this hotel again.

We stayed for ten nights at the end of June. The staff were so friendly and made us feel very special, particularly Kyril, Georgina and Anastasia. The Residence part of the hotel is just opposite the main hotel, so you get the benefit of a quieter more relaxed place with an adults-only rooftop pool, while still enjoying the facilities of the main hotel if you want them. Breakfast was of a very high standard and the rooftop bar made the best mojitos I’ve had in a long time. Location-wise, it’s perfect. Right on the beachfront and close to all of the restaurants. Every day, the housekeeping staff (who were so friendly) left towel art on the bed. Such a cute touch. We felt sad to leave and have already looked at availability for next year.

Spotlessly clean hotel. Staff are excellent and hard working especially those in the Thea bar area. Rooms are spacious and bathrooms good with walk in shower. Proximity to restaurants and beach is fantastic. Would have been 5 stars if the late check out had been better. Many flights from Crete are late in evening. Bags were left in an unlocked room and the only two showers available were here too. It was so hot in this room
