Asterion Suites & Spa - by Louis Hotels

The hotel is exceptional. It is spacious, relaxing and spotlessly clean. The food is delicious - in particular the breakfasts are outstanding. The hot food is cooked in small batches as required so the fried eggs, fried tomatoes etc are all hot and freshly cooked. The live entertainment at dinner was excellent. Service is exceptional from all staff members. The General Manager, George, and the restaurant manager, Manolis, are gifted at ensuring each guest feels personally welcomed in the hotel. Although the hotel is fairly large, you really do receive a small, family-run hotel welcome. We stayed in a room with a private pool and were delighted with how sizeable both suite and pool were. It was very pleasant and relaxing. The hotel really exudes the Greek ethos of hospitality, generosity and warmth of welcome to guests. We can’t recommend the hotel highly enough.

I can't quite believe how many 5 star reviews this place gets, bearing in mind the lack of facilities. This was an expensive holiday, so I think it fair to have expected more, especially as this hotel is in the middle of nowhere. Yes, most of the staff are really lovely, helpful and attentive, but there simply isn't the infrastructure to merit 5 stars. There is just one (very cold) pool, no indoor pool, and only a tiny "gym" in a windowless cupboard. There wasn't even an indoor bar, in fact there was nowhere to sit indoors with a drink before or after dinner - apart from the complete waste of space next to reception (where, understandably, I never saw a single person sit all week). The reception is right opposite the "front" door (which wasn't easy to find), and should surely be where the (closed) indoor bar is. Then you could make a proper comfortable bar/lounge area on the left side. It currently has the appeal of a train station waiting room. There is basically only one restaurant. The buffet restaurant has a view of a cold, stark corridor, and the a la carte restaurant is through a partition but is part of the same room. There was no wine list for the all-inclusive guests. How do you choose a glass of wine from a non-existent list? We ended up having to go and see the wine rack in order to choose something! The first bedroom we were offered was a dark, bleak room on the ground floor. Thankfully, we were moved on the 2nd day, and the room suite we then had was infinitely better. Staying in that first room for a week would have been a complete deal-breaker. I'm sorry to put a downer on this place because the staff were lovely, but I'm afraid it just didn't add up to the luxury holiday we had been led to expect.

We chose Asterion Suites & Spa to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. It was an exclusive adults only, small hotel and had absolutely everything we needed. From the moment we arrived to the minute we left we were made to feel special. We had a complimentary room upgrade and a bottle of fizz and cake in our room for our anniversary. The staff are all so friendly and helpful and very attentive from the reception staff, to the waiting staff, the bar staff and the cleaning and maintenance staff. The room was amazing, separate area for the bedroom, large bed, excellent quality linen and towels. Comfy sofa in the living area and good choice of coffee and tea in the kitchen. Really good selection of toiletries and personal care items in the bathroom too. The food is amazing particularly the 35° Cretan A La Carte restaurant. Excellent choice for breakfast and the a la carte menu for lunch was good too. The drinks and cocktails were amazing, loved that everything was measured properly and served in a proper plastic glass around the pool, George, the bar man, got to know our drinks and started making them as we walked towards the bar. The pool area was always clean, plenty of very comfy sun beds and pool towels that actually fitted the sun beds too. The hotel was straight on the beach, again, with plenty of sunbeds there too. Stunning hotel, very highly recommended and will definitely be back sometime.

We had a light flight into Charnia and when we arrived at Asterion just after 11PM we were greeted by warm & friendly staff. The staff throughout the our stay were amazing. An example? As we checked in & shown to our room, we learned that as it was late, a meal had been prepared and was waiting for us in our room along with a fruit plate, dessert and a bottle of wine. The Asterion Team anticipated our needs throughout. Rooms are well appointed and spacious. We had a sea view that also overlooked the splash pools. Very calm & serene. Food is of high quality, well prepared and not over complicated. Buffet breakfast has lots of options. Lunch and dinner menus were buffet or a la carte. Most guests opted for the a la carte which were great. Staff for meals are attentive and very pleasant. Beverage choices for all inclusive were wide ranging and I would say premium. There is also a nice wine list if you want something else. Asterion has an App for guests that allows you to order service at your sunbed, book dinner reservations and more. Great app. I k no ow other places have similar Apps but this one was quick and easy to use. Nicely done. Asterion is well located with a paved walking path next to the beach approx 1.5 lm long with access to other restos, stores etc. along the way. We would happily return.

We stayed for 7 nights at the beginning of October and we were not disappointed. We upgraded to a suite with a private pool. It was worth paying extra. The pool was clean and the terrace was large enough to move with the sun. We saw the sun rise each morning and we still had sun until 5pm. The suite itself was spacious and the bed was large and extremely comfortable. We loved the rainfall shower in the bathroom and the extra space that two wash basins gave us. The bed linen was luxurious and was freshly laundered every day. The cleaner paid attention to detail each day and the room was spotlessly clean. We were all inclusive. The breakfast selection was good and we enjoyed ordering from the a la carte menu at lunchtime. There are plenty of options on the menu depending on how much or how little you want to eat. We felt the selection of food in the Matter restaurant in the evening is second to none and we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. All the waiting staff were courteous and attentive but Goran is a stand out jewel in the crown. He is very charismatic which instantly lifts the vibe of a buffet restaurant setting. We are eternally grateful for his ability to intuitively know when our glasses needed topping up! So we could just sit back and relax. The pool area is peaceful and we loved the rugged coastline. We would have liked to have spent some time walking along the amazingly long beach. We hope to return next year. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel if you want to relax and unwind. Zoe and Nick
