CHC Imperial Palace

Hotel je krásný a čistý. Personal velice příjemný. Velké minus je bohužel umístění hotelu. Kolem vůbec nic není. Taxíkem do centra z hotelu 12km ( jedna cesta ) jsme platili 15€. Fitko je mini místnost o 3 strojích , takže na cvičení to taky moc není :-). Plaz je neudrzovana a ošklivá. Velké zklamání. Jídlo bylo dobre, menší vyber ( asi kvuli nizke obsazenosti hotelu ). Je to taková hodně relaxační dovolená. A nejsou k dispozici balene vody. Pokud chcete vodu, dostanete ji do skleničky, pro balenou vás pošlou do minimarketu na hotelu.

Me and my partner stayed here for 7 days and had an amazing time! All the staff where amazing, in particular Mrs Eleni and young lady called Nadia made us feel so at home! Always greeted with a smile in the mornings and each time we entered the hotel. Whilst we where here I propsed to my now fiancé and both where so happy and supportive of us both as a pair and me in the lead up to the proposal offering support to make it extra special, giving me a smile and wink on the day I planned to do it and making a huge fuss over my partner and her rings... Yes rings plural❤️ which made her feel extra special. Mrs Eleni even gave us an engagement present, a hug and wished us well with our future when we checked out. I will be forever grateful for this hotel and it's staff for being such an amazing part of our special moment. Thank you!!!! Lewis + Jaimie-lea

This was our second stay at this hotel and as before, we had a wonderful stay. We arrived at about 1 a.m. and were greeted with a smile by the night manager; we had an upgrade to a suite, which was lovely, and were offered food. All staff are professional, always polite and friendly. The whole hotel is spotless, our room was made up every day and the housekeeping lady did a great job. The exterior of the hotel is well maintained, every morning and evening, the area around the pool was swept, beds and tables were wiped down. There are plenty of sun beds to go around, also umbrellas. The food is very good; this is a half board hotel and not an all-inclusive. Breakfast was good, with a great variety of cooked and cold dishes. There was something for everyone and the chef would do you an omelette or eggs to order. The dishes were replenished continuously. The staff in the restaurant were warm, welcoming and extremely helpful. A few days after we arrived a large tour party booked in and this in no affected how the restaurant was run. The snacks from the bar are good and inexpensive. Reception staff are also extremely friendly and helpful and whenever I entered reception, I was always greeted with smile. If you need help and advise on how to get around the island the reception staff were always willing to give this. There is a bus into town, which takes about 20/25 minutes, the bus stop is a minutes’ walk away. There are two supermarkets close by, one is approximately a 10 minutes’ walk and the other 15 (this depends on how fast you walk!). There is a beach on the opposite side of the road. I would highly recommend this hotel, no children, which is a bonus. There is road noise but after a while, you do not hear it. This review is rather long (but not as long as the negative ones) which I have read and these have made me smile, not sure those guest were in the same hotel that I stayed it. If you want staff to be nice to you, be nice to them! If you need anything i.e. bedclothes ask! Final note to the staff, many thanks for our gift of fruit and cakes when we arrived and our wonderful bag of gifts when we left. We definitely have every intention of returning. A big thank you to Eleni and her staff, you are all doing a great job.

Very friendly staff and very clean hotel. Our room was very big with walk in shower a separate toilet. The food is also very good and there is a nice selection It’s a little bit far for restaurants and night life but we still enjoyed our stay.

This is going to be a long one .. Have just got back from a 10 night stay here with my partner , we were due to stay for 7 nights but decided to extend our stay as we loved Rethymno and Crete in general, however I will be honest we did not have a very good first impression of this hotel. I had read the reviews before hand so I was aware of the open plan bathroom, small rooms and the noise from the busy roads. When we checked in we were given a room with the view of a muddy field , we asked to change rooms and the receptionist said they were fully booked however shortly after this we noticed the sink pipe was completely detached from the wall and water went all over the room when using it, we told the receptionist who then had no choice but to change our room ( thought it was fully booked ?) We then moved rooms to a room with a much better view and everything seemed fine, however next morning there was a very strong smell of sewage from the toilet and my partner moved the drain cover by accident ( it's small and on the floor and covered by a removable metal cover) and saw it was completly blocked an absolutely stank, as this was the second room that we had issues in we were not happy, we called reception who sent their handy man to look.. he said this was not good and accused us of blocking the drain, however this could have been a language barrier but at this point we were very unhappy so my partner went to reception, and a different lady came to check our room and could smell it and said it was bad. We then spoke to the reservations manager who was helpful and apologised and offered us another room and let us view it first , we were given a pool view room which was nice, they also wrote us a note and gave us fruits and cheese in the room as an apology which was also a nice touch. Upon extending our stay we were going to move to another hotel for the extra 3 nights ( not by choice ) only as we thought this one was fully booked , but they had a cancellation so we spoke again to the reservations manager who offered us a suite for the price of a double room, she was excellent and really helpful and friendly I did not get her name but she was the best receptionist out of them all. After this mishap with the first two rooms we were happy with the 3rd one and enjoyed our stay, however there are things I feel this hotel could improve on , some of the staff are more friendly than others and I felt like on one day they would be friendly and then another not customer service with some staff needs to be improved The double rooms are very small, this did not bother us but it can get cramped in there with two suitcases and very little space to store your clothes. I felt some of the resturant staff were clearly annoyed if you got to dinner close to the time it ended (9pm) and one lady snapped at us one night and said the resturant was closing soon , I felt 9pm was early for dinner to end especially given in Greek culture they are known to have dinner late and people are out doing excursions all day The food at dinner is very nice and fresh, with alot of options, my partner is vegan and there was alot there for him every night and alot of places we went to outside the hotel didn't really cater for this, breakfast is also nice but we sometimes missed that The hotel is very quiet and small, after 11pm there is nobody around , if you are after a lively resort type hotel this is not for you , we are a youngish couple and like a bit of atmosphere so went into the old town every night , we did not eat dinner every night at the hotel either , I feel the hotel could benefit from some type of entertainment at least a live singer etc If you are shy to use the toilet around your partner this hotel is not for you, everything is open and you can hear everything , there is very little privacy in any of the rooms , the suite had more than the double room however but it was still open plan The balcony's are extremely over looked as other reviews say, you can see in everyone's rooms We noticed the sewage smell in the room we moved from was very prominent even more so in the suites toilet . I think this has to do with the fact you cannot flush toilet paper down the toilet in greece and guests probably do not listen to this, I don't think this is the hotels fault and is a greece wide issue Some room views are way better than others, I am a light sleeper and was worried about the noise from the road, this could be heard loudly in the suite as we had a road view room but we accepted this due to the discount , however I could not really hear it all in the pool view room. The location will not be good for everyone, everything is a short drive away there are no local shops near by unless you are willing to walk about 10/15 mins in the heat, bus to the old town cost €2.20 single , bus stop is around a 5 min walk from hotel and is about 15/20 mins in to town , however the last bus back to the hotel is 12am. A cab back from old town to the hotel is around €18-20 which is expensive. We rented a car via the hotel which I fully recommend , however we found cheaper prices elsewhere and rented a car from a different place for the last 3 days Says there is a beach near by however there are way bigger and nicer beaches further down the road towards the old town The grounds of the hotel are very well maintained and clean, the swimming pool was also clean however the jacuzzi was not , rooms are also clean and everywhere across the hotel in general is very modern and looks nice All in all we loved our stay in Rethymno and the hotel in general was nice hence why we extended, I would like to thanks the reservations manager who was great and also rang the winery we wanted to visit for us to see it they could arrange a cab , her customer service was great and I do feel some of the other staff could learn from her. Despite some of the negatives, I would return to this hotel as I think the positives outweigh them .
