Intercontinental Crete

Easily the worst hotel stay I’ve had. The rooms had a persistent musty smell that never went away — you notice it the second you open the door. Housekeeping and general upkeep were below what any hotel charges this rate should deliver, let alone an InterContinental. Service was slow and disinterested; issues raised at the desk went nowhere. The brand name on the building set an expectation the property doesn’t come close to meeting. I won’t be back, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone paying these prices.

One-Star Experience at Best This hotel in Crete is absolutely not worthy of five stars. In my opinion, it barely deserves one or two. The service is simply disastrous. The rooms are unpleasant, poorly maintained and, quite frankly, smell awful. We even experienced flooding in our room, which is completely unacceptable for a five-star hotel. The front-desk staff were particularly disappointing: unprofessional, incompetent and, unfortunately, not honest in the way they handled our complaints. Instead of finding solutions, they gave us excuses and made promises that were not followed through. The housekeeping is also far from five-star standards. The sheets are apparently changed only once a week, even when they have visible stains. The cleaning itself is superficial at best—nothing remotely exceptional. What makes this even more disappointing is that I have stayed at other InterContinental and IHG hotels in different countries, and they have been absolutely beautiful, luxurious and impeccable. This property is nowhere near the standard I have experienced at other hotels in the group. Overall, this was an extremely disappointing stay. The quality of the rooms, housekeeping and especially the service does not remotely match the five-star rating or the standards I expected. Definitely not a five-star experience. I would not recommend this hotel and would not stay here again.

Such a wonderful experience and massage in the spa. I had the best massage with Maria, so relaxing and I left feeling very calm. A great joy to end the holiday this way. Thank you Maria!
