Thalassi Hotel. I’m a retired holiday rep for Thomson. I have worked within many sectors of both the overseas & UK travel industry. The Thelassi Hotel that we stayed in is beautiful. It is mainly refurbished with superb bedrooms and some lovely balcony views. The swimming pool is georgeous. All the staff are lovely, kind and polite & did their best to meet our needs.. just like the normal Greek way that ‘we all’ know and love. The female owner, her son, breakfast and bar staff are excellent. 10/10 for this hotel. Thank you Thelassi.

We have just returned from a week at The Thalassi hotel and it just was not long enough!! From check in Eva took care of us, explained everything and took us to our room which was big and clean with fridge. Pool is clean and we got a sunbed whenever we needed one. The staff at the hotel are just amazing and can’t do enough for you. Steffi runs the pool bar in the evening and is just hilarious and always made sure we weren’t without a drink for long and even making sure we had our favourite glasses. Breakfast is served buffet style in the hotel and it’s freshly made and they are always restocking to ensure everyone has what they want. Half board evening meals are served at the Thalassi Restaurant which is a 5 min walk or they provide a shuttle bus there and back. Each day there was something different on the buffet and it was all freshly cooked. Definitely try the soup!! Plenty of tables and the most spectacular view! The restaurant also does al la cart which you must try at least once and hotel guests get 20% of menu prices. Demitri and Marcus are the most amazing hosts and looked after us all week, we even went in the day times down to the beach area at the side of the restaurant and then come up and have a few drinks and play cards under an umbrella. Mondays they have a live singer in and Fridays is Greek night where they have dancers and music on. The staff at the hotel and the restaurant could not do enough for us and I genuinely felt like extended family by the middle of the week. Demitri even took a select few of us out on the Sunday to see his village and monastery, his farm and many many olive trees and we stopped at a lovely cafe for coffee and raki which Demitri paid for. Demitri is passionate about his food and business and he explained to us all how he doesn’t use any pesticides on his crops and it’s all natural which made his food even more appealing. The hotel is not in a busy area but it has 2 supermarkets, 2 bakeries and a pharmacy nearby and the centre of Rethymno is 20 mins by bus which is only €2.20 euros or €23 in a taxi which we did a couple of days. I would recommend this hotel and restaurant to anybody and I will definitely be back!! Thank you for making our stay so memorable ❤️

Firstly, what a great family team this hotel has, all the team go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible, everyone works hard and welcomes you at each meeting. Check in was smooth and welcoming, Eva explained everything, air conditioning and safe is additional cost along with local nightly tax. Breakfast had great choice both continental and cooked, fruit, cereal, hot and cold drinks Pool bar, open from 10ish until midnight, lunches are made fresh to order, large portions! Tasty food. Steffi who works each night is great, remembers your name and preferences, even brings nibbles. Large mythos €5, cocktails €11, spirits €7.50 All staff in the breakfast room are lovely and food just keeps arriving, all freshly cooked, used plates and tables cleared quickly, they work hard. Restaurant is a 5 min walk, perfect setting and sunsets. You can get the shuttle bus if you prefer. Buffet food is traditional Greek (as it should be) again freshly cooked local produce. Quickly refilled and abundant (try the soup) menu each night is different but limited choice. Eat as much as you like. Al a cart is exceptional, please try at least once on your stay. Delicious food and perfect setting. I really can't fault the food either buffet or Al a cart. Relaxed atmosphere and perfect hosts. Live music Monday nights and Greek night Fridays, dancers, fire, plate smashing, great night! Sunsets to die for....... bar and restaurant staff are wonderful and attentive in the right amount. Access to the beach directly from the restaurant, perfect for a beer and snack after a swim, sunbeds not on the beach but next to the restaurant with plenty of space, large umbrellas for shade at the tables from the hot sun. Now, Dimitri, the owner, he is passionate about his food, family and friends, he will happily treat you as family and make sure your stay is memorable, he will tell you about his food, farm, family and welcome you each time you see him. He is generous (also a feeder) cake, raki, lemoncello, will often appear at you table, maybe even a carafe of wine! He will always look after you. We were invited to one of his outings. We went to a monastery, then on to a local village for refreshments (which he paid for) then to his home and farm not far from the hotel. It was a lovely gesture and gave a great insight to his life, family and passion for his hotel/restaurant. Dimitri will teach you the Greek way of life, relax over food and drink, spend time with loved ones, take time to appreciate life and talk to each other. Enjoy the time you spend in this wonderful place. Downside - a little out of the way. Need to get the bus into town €2.20 each way, but service is quick and reliable. Eva has all the information you will need, and will guide you for trips, excursions or anything you may need.
