The Revery Crete

The perfect place for a truly relaxing getaway. The hotel harmonizes perfectly and respectfully with the surrounding wild nature, offering a genuine sense of peace and respite from the daily grind. The service is excellent, and it is evident that thought has gone into even the smallest details. Simply perfect—we would love to return.

I chose the Revery for my honeymoon and i’m extremely happy with my decision. Pros: Privacy, Relaxing, Views, Luxury Cons: unspecified rules, service was inconsistent at times, new hotel The Revery is a scenic drive from kissamos and Chania on some curvy mountainous roads. Once I pulled up to the Revery before I could even exit the car I was greeted by a big smile of Stavros who took my bags and helped empty the car. Stavros right away brought good vibes to the trip and started showing us around the facilities. Once we were at the check in desk, Stamatis (Stam) took care of the details and quickly moved us through the checkin process. We had a lavender welcome drink which was fantastic. We started planning our activities with Maria and had a more in depth tour. Make sure to book your experiences early. Massage was a highlight and yoga was a missed opportunity. More on that later. When we checked into the room (horizon suite) they were incredibly well appointed and somehow more impressive than in the photos. The view is simply incredible and the amount of privacy the suite provides can’t be understated. The rooms, suite locations, the pools etc were carefully designed so you can’t see into the back of each suite. This was one of the main reasons I booked this hotel and suite. The privacy was something I couldn’t get in other parts of crete. Since it was our honeymoon, the hotel made us a welcome cake and had a bottle of prosecco waiting which was a nice touch. The bathrooms were great showers had really high water pressure. There was also a bidet but the water pressure is insanely high so be careful using it. Approaching night time the hotel helped make reservations for their restaurant Filemma. Our server there Aggelos was exceptional. Not only did he provide excellent service but he entertained us with great conversation. Our interactions with him were a highlight of the stay. The food at the hotel was excellent. Although, it would have been nice to have some less high end options on the property. Later in the trip we realized with so many Taverns nearby, Filema is a distinct notch up providing a differentiated experience. The views from the restaurant are nothing short of incredible especially at sunset. We somehow missed the sunset despite the host saying to arrive at 8pm for the sunset. Make sure you do your own research when the best time is to go for viewing. We went back to the room and relaxed into sleep with the in room tv and a teapot. The teas in the room were a nice touch. Be careful with the teapot, I accidentally smashed mine on the first night and glass was all over but the hotel sent someone quickly to clean it up and brought me a replacement teapot. The next day we used the in suite pool which was perfect. The sunbeds in the suite were good and were not extremely hot despite being in the sun all day. The kimonos included with the room were extremely comfy and a very nice touch. We used the on site gym. Despite having newer matrix equipment it was missing some features. If you like to do heavy weight exercises like squats bench or deadlift you won’t be able to do so in this gym. The dumbbells go up to ~22kg. Another hotel we stayed at was cheaper but also a 5 star and it had older equipment that allowed us to have our desired heavy weight workout. The treadmill and elliptical are very nice. The pool was a huge highlight. Both pools had great views. There’s a few things which confused me about the pools. For some reason we were told we couldn’t order food to the pool near the beach. No one ever explained why but it didn’t really make sense to me. There was a trashcan next to it. There was not a bathroom near the pool closest to the ocean so it was a bit inconvenient. The ocean had clear water but was rocky and the rocks were slippery. During our tour it was not clear whether we could swim there or not. Other guests swam while some avoided it. I would bring water shoes if you plan on swimming in the ocean at the hotel. The nearby beach of Elafonisi is also a highlight. I highly recommend taking a day trip here. We also made use of the on-site spa. We had a couples massage which was one of the best in my life. I highly recommend it to anyone. The sauna has an amazing view of the ocean. The sauna itself was one of the best ones I ever used in my life in terms of quality. The whole spa facility was top notch.
