Orion Hotel Faliraki

I think I would have liked to have used my sort of review to make an informed decision before choosing to go here so maybe this will help others - the hotel in general was fine but for a few things, when we arrived at 1500 we were put into a temporary room until 1900 while ours was "being cleaned and made ready." Not sure what they were cleaning, the bed was made and on the face of it, looked nice and clean however after being there 24 hours, if u ran your finger along any of the ledges, they were thick of dust and under the bed was filthy. I can only speak for block 1 but the cleaner there made so much noise every day in other rooms, furniture was scraped across the floor making an awful racket and considering under our bed wasn't done for ages makes me wonder what was actually being moved and done in other rooms. We left a hair in the basin on purpose that was still in the same place a week later (testing to see when it may be dealt with). The please do not disturb door sign meant nothing on some days and the cleaner still came in. The reception and bar staff were great. Only 5 English speaking tv channels, 2 of which were news but all English channel reception disappeared as soon as there was poor weather. Hotel is quite nicely placed for beach access and transport links but there are bits about this hotrl that are avoidable that would make this hotel an absolute little gem if they just tried a bit harder.

We booked a Queen Room with pool view and paid an extra £112 for the upgrade. Unfortunately the balcony was completely enclosed and the space felt very confined — nothing like what we had paid for. When we raised this at reception, we were told no other rooms would be available until Thursday. As soon as we contacted Jet2 about the issue, a different room became available the very next morning. We also had a very worrying experience with a taxi arranged through the hotel. The driver appeared to be unlicensed with no meter and tried to charge us well over the odds. He actually kept us waiting in his minibus for about five minutes until I told him I would be calling the police. It felt very uncomfortable. When I went back into the hotel, the receptionist seemed panicked and just told me to get another taxi elsewhere. It left us feeling very let down that the hotel would arrange or recommend someone like that. On our last day we asked about keeping the room on until 6pm for our late flight — we were quoted 50 euros. There was no mention at all that there were complimentary showers available downstairs near reception. Again, it was only after speaking with Jet2 that we were told this had been a misunderstanding. The breakfast was a standard buffet — perfectly edible but nothing special. One very frustrating thing was there was only a two-slice toaster for the whole dining room, which meant a constant queue every morning. Reception staff generally weren't as helpful or as friendly as you would hope. That being said — the hotel is spotlessly clean. You can see the cleaners working constantly everywhere and it is always kept immaculate. And I must mention the bar staff — they were absolutely lovely, friendly and helpful at all times, a real credit to the hotel. So in summary — a clean hotel with great bar staff, but let down by disappointing room allocation, poor communication from reception, and a genuinely worrying taxi incident. For the price we paid, we expected better care and honesty from the front desk.

Nice pool and bar facilities and room looked nice but however the smell was horrendous we went for nearly the full 7 days without air con as it stunk of strong smoke, even our clothes were smelling. Reception staff could do with a course in customers service. Cleaners were lovely and our room was nice and clean it’s was just the horrendous smell that let the place down. Otherwise a good location (We were in old block)

First time in Greece and what a lovely country. This hotel's location is spot on. No more than 10 minutes to the beach and 15 to the start of 'Bar Street'. Didn't venture down there at night as too old for that malarkey. The hotel was spot on. Paid a little extra for a pool view which was in block 2 and well worth it. It looked like it was one of the modernised rooms and the balcony was huge. Staff were friendly and the bar/snack bar was fantastic with a good variety of food and huge portions. 50 euros for late check out (6pm) was a bit steep I think but as checkout is 11am and pick pick up wasn't until 7.30pm it had to be done really. Very clean and tidy. Went Bed and Breakfast and there was a good enough selection so never went hungry. No issues with sunbeds and there were always a few spare ones dotted about even into the afternoon. I'd definitely come back here again.

A really great hotel in a good location. A short stroll from the main strip but far enough away so no noise issues. The staff were all friendly, especially the cleaners in the morning who did a great job. We stayed in the older block 3 which hasn’t been renovated yet but was very clean and perfectly adequate. It was also very spacious. It’s less than 2 mins walk from the pool/restaurant, not 10 as one reviewer claimed. Maybe they walk very slowly??? Breakfast was excellent with different cakes, pastries, etc every day along with cooked food and cereals. Overall a great stay and we would definitely recommend.
