Carana Beach Hotel

While on holiday in Seychelles, we were driving around the island and decided to stop for a drink at the bar at Carana Beach Hotel. We were stopped at the gate by an Indian security guard who asked what we wanted. We explained that we would like to have a drink at the bar. He went away, returned shortly after, and said the bar was full and that we could not enter. When I asked why, no explanation was given. I then asked when the bar would not be full so we could come back, and he was unable to answer. During the interaction, the security guard asked whether we were local. My driver is Seychellois, and it was clear that once we were perceived as local, the attitude changed. When I clarified that I was not local, the decision had already been made and access was still refused. The experience felt uncomfortable and unwelcoming. It gave the strong impression that non guests, particularly locals or those assumed to be local, are discouraged from entering. If this hotel intends to be exclusive to in house guests only, this should be clearly stated rather than handled in this manner at the gate. If you are not staying at this hotel, do not bother stopping for a drink or a meal. There are many other hotels in Seychelles that are far more welcoming and professional, such as Savoy or Story, where visitors are treated with courtesy and respect. A very disappointing experience.

We stayed here on our second week in the Seychelles. Thr rooms are modern and very comfortable (we never turned the TV on!). The beach is lovely but the waves can be a little frisky. There are plenty of beds around the pool and along the front and the bar makes great coctails with the local rum. We hired a car with driver through the hotel for a day (shout out to Kenneth our driver) and it was well worth it. ending up at the Takamaka distillery for a tasting. The astmospehere is very relaxed with a little more buzz than the Praslin. Breakfast was amazing and dinner was interesting and eclectic. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. We went for massages at the spa which were excellent. my spine felt rejuvinated. Very nice hotel. And the cat is a star.

Paradise is real! The Seychelles is a truly breathtaking place and the main island Mahe is the capital and therefore somewhat more commercial. In the north of Mahe lies Carana Beach Hotel - a beautiful boutique resort that offers a more tranquil, luxurious and relaxing stay. Carana location means it’s a little out of the way from the busy areas and therefore offers a more secluded and quieter stay whilst being within easy reach of Victoria and the marina for bit excursions etc. The pool villa is stunning! A Large room with impressive bathroom and a huge terrace with a private pool - what more would you want?! The gardens and grounds are incredibly well Maintained with beauty everywhere you turn. Carana has its own private beach which at high tide looks postcard perfect. At low tide you can wander a little further and explore the huge granite boulders on the beach which are signature features of the Seychellois landscape and a photographers dream backdrop! The staff at Carana beach are some of the best staff we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. There are so many lovely staff members that would stop to say good morning with a huge friendly smile - this made us feel incredibly welcome and comfortable. We met the talented head chef Marcus and his sous chef most evenings as they would often come out to chat with the guests. The evening meals were mostly 4 course and some of the finest food we’ve ever had the pleasure of eating! We were lucky enough to have our wedding ceremony at carana beach and the whole event was organised by the incredible guest relations manager Mercia, who couldn’t have been more helpful. She really did look after us so well and was an exceptional standout member of the team as well as a witness to our beautiful wedding ceremony held on the beach. This really was a magical stay in the most beautiful hotel ran by an incredible team in a part of the world that felt like paradise - we did lots of excursions on and off the island and really got to see the Seychelles for its unique and awe inspiring beauty. I booked a family dinner for my daughter,s birthday. The experience was amazing starting from the customer service by a lady on the reception name Rania ,she was very nice and helpful. Then we have chef Marcus well known as chef Gato who organised a small family style dinner as it was a creole night. The food and set up was very nice and amazing. Thank you chef Gato and Team and also our waitress Cindy.🙌🙌🙌. The food was very tasty and our small chocolate.❤️❤️
