Mango House Seychelles, LXR Hotels & Resorts

As a US citizen, traveling to the Seychelles is an arduous trek! From my home base on west coast the trip took about 36 hours elapsed time each way (give or take an hour or three), from takeoff to touchdown (four flights). It was totally WORTH IT! Mango House is a lovely property! Just five years young or so at this point. And intimate! A boutique venue with 41 rooms or so. I was looking for a set-it-and-forget-it vacation, and Mango House fit the bill! The only time I left the resort during my weeklong stay was to grab a bite to eat at a restaurant just outside the gate (Pineapple Cabana). The staff was wonderful. EVERY single member of the Mango team went out of their way to make me feel welcomed (too many stars to name)! From the general manager to housekeeping! I had an oceanview king room, which was spectacular! It was contained in a 3-unit villa -- one down, two up. So there were a few stairs to climb to get to this lovely perch! The use of various materials in construction were aesthetically pleasing! Wood, glass, natural stone tile -- all made for a luxurious stay! And large! Oh, my! I wish I could live there! About the only things I could remotely complain about were the weather (it rained about half the time I was there) and the room view being largely obscured by beautiful palm trees. Oh, and while the food was certainly exceptional, it comes with a rather hefty price tag, which is why I enjoyed a few meals off-property. In closing, the Mango House is a definite bucket-list checker. You will be wise to consider staying there if Seychelles is on your dream list!

This is the second time we have stayed at Mango House. This time it was a shorter visit, but we couldn’t miss a stop here during our trip to the Seychelles. It’s a boutique hotel that we truly love, with everything you need to feel comfortable and relaxed. The benefits for Hilton Honors Diamond members are excellent. I’m writing this review to thank and praise Mrs. Miriam for her outstanding service, as well as Mrs. Ingrid, who once again warmly welcomed us at check in. A wonderful 8 days in this little slice of heaven. Mango House captures you from the start with Rachel and the reception team’s incredibly warm welcome and the relaxed and cosy environment. More boutique hotel than Hilton but all the professionalism you expect and delightful touches in decor and ambience. People, food and service all 5 stars. The odd blip on waiting time and portion control - one little pita with lunch kebab a bit odd - but otherwise cannot fault it. Joshua, Alysha and the crew at Soley you are first class.

We had combined the Seychelles after having a wonderful time on Safari! I would do the Safari again in a heartbeat but wouldn’t waste time or money here. Our room was in the Cliff House, which for us older folks was a heck of a stair climb going back and forth. We were supposed to get a tour our first morning but no one showed up. The food was super expensive so we walked off property down the hill to another restaurant that was a fraction of the cost of food at the Mango House. The best way to describe our experience was a VERY overpriced Caribbean with just ok service. I wouldn’t recommend staying here for the price and lack of things to do.
