Alegria Colonial Mar Aquafun

I was extremely underwhelmed with this hotel. Food was mediocre at best and the food hall is like the hunger games, staff were generally friendly but spoke little English, which is all well and good but we flew with Jet2 as an all inclusive package from Manchester and they did not disclose that this location turns out to be a Spanish people holiday destination and they very much have a dislike towards the English. The ‘all inclusive’ should be renamed ‘some inclusive’ due to there being very few drinks and snacks include and those that are include they are incredibly stingy with. Additionally the aircon in the room barely worked in 43 degree heat and the times it did work, the room was filled with an AWFUL smell of cannabis or cigarettes. Spanish guests at the hotel were incredibly rude and always seemed to be p!ssed off at something. The waterslides were good but outside the hotel there was very little to do. The shopping plaza is a 10 min walk which was good, aswell as the aquarium which is a 25min walk and there was a CastorLand opposite the hotel which was a better option than the entertainment in the hotel which was extremely loud and started very late considering it was aimed at younger children. Overall the hotel was clean but I would not recommend for English tourists or for people wanting to do anything other than be sat by the pool all week (that’s if you can find a sunbed!)

I've given this hotel 3 stars which is what I'd say it is instead of the advertised 4 star. Visited here in may, rooms ok, pool & slides etc all ok. Plenty of space & sunbeds to go round. It is in a residential area so there isn't a great deal to do out of the hotel without a taxi ride or longish walk. Food was poor and repetitive, even the chips was absolutely rubbish. How can you get chips so wrong 🤣. Drinks was ok though, decent measures. The in house entertainment was drab, but the shows was usually good from entertainers not associated with the hotel. The beach is accessible from a gate at the back of the hotel. There is a small section with sunbeds that have decent cushions on too. The beach was clean and very quite. €28 for X4 beds & X2 parasols. On our last day it was raining, both inside and out as the reception area had alot of holes in the roof, with towels placed on the floor to soak up the mess 🤣. I feel like I need to book another holiday as this 1 felt like I had wasted my money.

The hotel itself is very modern, with large, clean rooms that were comfortable for our family. The pool area is fantastic and caters well to all ages, with plenty of space for both adults and children to enjoy. Unfortunately, there were several negatives and we would therefore not return. The location is disappointing, as the hotel is situated in a residential area with nothing nearby. There are no shops, restaurants or places to walk to, and very little to keep children entertained outside of the hotel. The food was the biggest let-down. If you don't like fish, your choices are extremely limited. The food was often only lukewarm or completely cold, and there was very little variety throughout our stay. There were no themed nights or changes to the menu, making dining quite repetitive. The entertainment was also disappointing. While we completely understand that the entertainment is primarily in Spanish, it often felt like English-speaking children were singled out because they couldn't understand or fully participate, which was upsetting to see. Finally, the drinks selection was poor, and being served in paper cups during the day was not what we expected from this type of hotel. Overall, the hotel has some great features, particularly the rooms and pool area, but the food, location and entertainment experience mean we wouldn't return.

A question for the hotel if possible. What times does the buffet restaurant open for breakfast lunch and dinner in September please?

Currently staying here with Jet 2, if you want to be in the middle of a Spanish residential area, with nowhere to walk, rubbish food and no English entertainment, then this is a must visit for you. They love the ENGLISH...... Not!!!!! Very disappointed and we've still got another week of this!!!!
