A very disappointing stay — particularly for families with babies I don’t usually write hotel reviews, as we’ve generally found that wherever we stay — whether budget or luxury — it’s usually pretty much as expected and meets our needs. We understand and appreciate that you get what you pay for, and we’re normally very easy-going when it comes to holidays. However, after staying at Albir Garden for 10 nights as a family of three with our baby/toddler, I feel compelled to write this review because this has genuinely been one of the most disappointing holiday experiences we have ever had. The biggest issue was not the standard of the accommodation itself, but the lack of understanding, empathy and helpful customer service, particularly when dealing with the needs of a baby. Our arrival We arrived at around 10pm and were checked in by Victoria. When we opened the door to our apartment, we were immediately hit with extremely loud music from the evening entertainment. We opened the balcony and realised that our apartment was situated directly above the evening entertainment area. For a couple without children, this may not have been an issue. But we were travelling with a baby who goes to bed between 8–9pm. There was absolutely no possibility of our baby sleeping through the level of noise coming from directly below us. I went straight back to reception and explained the situation to Victoria, asking if there was any possibility of moving to a quieter apartment. Her initial response was, “We did not know there was a baby.” We showed her our booking, which clearly stated two adults and one baby. We were then told that there are lots of children in the hotel and that it is not a problem for them. That completely missed the point. There is a huge difference between a hotel being child-friendly and putting a family with a baby directly above loud evening entertainment. Older children may happily enjoy the entertainment and sleep afterwards, but that doesn't mean the location is suitable for a baby who needs to be asleep by 8pm Thankfully, we were eventually moved to an apartment at the furthest point of the complex. This meant moving all of our belongings late at night with a tired baby, but we accepted it because we simply needed somewhere our child could sleep. The room situation We explained that our baby naps every afternoon, approximately 12:30–3:30pm, meaning my husband and I had to remain in the apartment for around three hours every afternoon. We therefore asked whether there was any possibility of an apartment with some sunlight on the balcony, so that at least my husband and I could sit outside and enjoy a little sunshine while our baby slept. Elena at reception said she would look into it for us. Unfortunately, when we were subsequently offered another apartment by Victoria, it was once again in complete shade. I went to look at the apartment before agreeing to move again and explained that it was also entirely shaded. Unfortunately, I found Victoria's response extremely dismissive and unhelpful. The attitude came across as essentially “this is what you’ve been given — take it or leave it.” I found the manner in which we were spoken to incredibly upsetting. I actually returned to our apartment and cried because of how helpless and poorly treated I felt. I genuinely cannot remember the last time I cried on holiday because of the way a member of staff had treated me. Unfortunately, the apartment above us then regularly smelled strongly of what appeared to be cannabis. So, for three hours every afternoon while our baby slept, we were effectively confined to an apartment with no sunshine on the balcony and unpleasant smoke coming from above. It was incredibly upsetting and certainly not the relaxing family holiday we had hoped for. The fridge — a particularly serious issue when travelling with a baby The following morning we went out to buy baby supplies and snacks. When we returned, we discovered that the fridge wasn't working. For a family travelling with a baby — particularly when relying on an apartment to store milk and food — a functioning fridge is not a luxury. It is an essential requirement. We immediately reported it to Elena at reception at around 10am, and maintenance came to the apartment and replaced the fridge. By around 2pm, however, the replacement fridge still wasn't working. I went back to reception and explained again that the reason we had specifically booked an apartment was so that we could safely store milk for our baby. Maintenance came back and told us to give it another hour. Three hours later, it still wasn't working. At around 5pm, I went back to reception once again and stressed how important it was that we had a functioning fridge for our baby's milk. The gentleman at reception suggested that I put the milk in the freezer instead. I explained that this wasn't appropriate for expressed milk as we needed to keep it refrigerated and that it needed to be kept at a safe temperature to avoid bacterial growth. Victoria was also present and began speaking to the gentleman in their local language. I obviously don't know what was being said, but the tone, expressions and manner towards me certainly did not make me feel that the situation was being taken seriously. Eventually, when we returned to our apartment later that evening, another fridge had been installed. However, it took another 24–48 hours before it was actually cold enough to be useful. For us, this was completely unacceptable. We had specifically booked an apartment because we needed the facilities, particularly the fridge, to properly care for our baby. Then the electricity went off On the third day, we tried to make some toast while our baby was napping. The power immediately went off in the entire apartment. We tried again, thinking it may have been a one-off, but the same thing happened. We tried another socket, with exactly the same result. So once again, we were unable to prepare lunch while our baby was asleep. At this point, we didn't even bother reporting it to reception. After everything we had already experienced, and after repeatedly feeling dismissed and uncomfortable when dealing with Victoria, we simply didn't have the energy to go through another conversation where we felt our concerns wouldn't be taken seriously. And that, ultimately, sums up how this holiday has felt. We are still here — and we are still deeply disappointed. We are writing this review while we are still staying at Albir Garden, and unfortunately we have spent a significant part of our holiday feeling uncomfortable, frustrated and upset. The accommodation itself is fairly basic, which in isolation would not bother us at all. We are not expecting luxury when we haven't paid for luxury. There are also queues at the bars, but again, that is something we would consider fairly normal in a busy holiday resort and wouldn't normally complain about. The biggest problem has been the customer service and the complete lack of empathy when we have raised genuine issues involving our baby. Travelling with a baby is challenging enough without feeling as though staff are irritated by you for asking for basic, reasonable assistance. We weren't asking for special treatment. We simply wanted: A room where our baby could sleep without being directly above loud evening entertainment. A functioning fridge to safely store milk and food. A little understanding and empathy when explaining our circumstances. Basic courtesy and kindness when raising problems. Instead, we have repeatedly felt dismissed, uncomfortable and, at times, spoken to in a manner that we found incredibly rude and arrogant. Would we recommend Albir Garden? Sadly, no — and particularly not for families travelling with babies under two. Perhaps this resort works very well for families with older children who want entertainment, activities and a busy holiday atmosphere. We can understand why some people may enjoy it. But based on our experience, we would strongly advise families with babies or very young children to think carefully before booking. A holiday with a baby is already very different from a holiday without children. You are tied to nap times, bedtimes, feeding and the need to have basic facilities working properly. When those needs aren't accommodated, and when the response from staff is dismissive rather than understanding, it can completely change the experience. We came to Albir Garden hoping for a relaxing family holiday. Instead, we have spent much of our 10-night stay feeling stressed, restricted and disappointed. For us, the issue isn't that the hotel is basic. It's that we didn't feel cared for when we genuinely needed help. Unfortunately, the way our concerns were handled — particularly by Victoria — has completely overshadowed the holiday and left us feeling that we simply would not return. If you're travelling with a baby and looking for a calm, comfortable and accommodating family holiday, based on our experience, we would recommend looking elsewhere.

2nd time here with grandchildren. We came to Albir with our own children many times and now my son likes to bring his children and we tag along for the memories. Still love Albir, please do not come without getting the bus to altea to enjoy an evening meal at the village up the hill in around the church square it is always the highlight of our holiday. Albir gardens is your typical family all inclusive. Nice grounds and rooms, lovely pools, always something to eat at the buffet. Evening entertainment very poor but we tended to go out. Was some very inconsiderate adults who would come in at 2/3 o’clock shouting and singing. Most people have young children and it was selfish and unnecessary. The hotel can’t be responsible for these guests I’m afraid. Not a hotel I would ever consider as a couple but good for young families. A couple of toilet accidents in the baby pool. Swiftly dealt with and closed off. Please use swim nappies, so many cheap shops and supermarkets on your doorstep. Bought loads of toys and floats very cheaply from the Chinese shop on the main road. Lidl short walk. Spent most days at the beach, 20 min flat walk down the side of the dry canal.
