Hotel Sun Palace Albir & Spa

No drinks available during dinner. 2.50E for a small water. Food isn't great. Mostly congealed and cold, 1/2 hour after opening. Breakfast was a bit better, due to drinks, coffee, water, juice. Even allowing for "out of season", selection and standard was poor. Indoor pool is not included in holiday price, even in December. A quick call to easyJet confirmed they had stated costs MAY be charged for"extras". Fair enough for massage, spa etc, but I don't think an indoor heated pool is extra? As a good will gesture, easyJet gave me a credit to reflect my unhappiness. That wont cover the price of the pool for 90 mins x 2 guests. (20E each) Room is travel lodge standard (ok!) comfy bed, bath, shower, fridge, but nothing to make tea/coffee. That's chargeable from the bar from 10:00am not the worst holiday, but far from the best. I know it's what you make of it, etc, but i still expected a certain standard from a "4" * hotel advertised with easyJet. Take-home from this review.... easyJet stated a few times, TripAdvisor reviews are available!! Read them!! And do with them what you will 😁

Thanks so much for our recent 4 night trip to Albir & the hotel. The first impressions were so great the lobby, reception, bar, restaurant, pool areas were all well maintained & clean…The rooms were fresh & clean…& you could have had clean towels every day…we paid €20 PP deposit for a pool towel which was ideal & got it back at the end of our trip….The rooms are slightly dated however this would not put me off rebooking…our party was made up of 3 female family members & we had an interconnecting room which was well planned out a big thank you to the hotel who organised this ( we never asked for this when booking )…We stayed on a bed breakfast option & the breakfast was really good plenty of eggs, bacon, sausages the list went on fresh fruit they catered for everyone. One tip bring your own t-bags as the ones provided have a grey colour to them so we brought a small box of tea bags from the supermarket & took them down with us…There is an abundance of restaurants & shops down the hill into Albir & the scooters are ideal €2 for 15 mins my daughter used these for exploring….Albir is stunning the beach is pebble to a wee pair of beach shoes would be ideal. The beach is so clean & the water is clear loads of little shops for refreshments & snacks if your at the beach for the day. There is a charge for the sunbeds which I have listed in a picture. I would definitely visit the Old Town of Benidorm again the other part is far too busy.

We had been let down by the hotel that we usually stay in and so chose to find alternative accommodation for a 3 day stay. We picked this hotel because it had availability and a room with a sea view - I love a sea view! I’m so pleased that we decided not to cancel having read some of the other reviews that appear here because honestly, we had a really good experience. Our room was basic but the promised sea view was spectacular! The bed was huge and very comfortable, It was clean, housekeeping visited every day to refresh our room and all of the staff that we met were delightful and extremely helpful. The hotel is at the top of quite a steep climb and so if anyone does have mobility issues, then perhaps this is not the place to stay if you want to make frequent trips into town or to the beach, although the hotel does offer a shuttle service. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast, served in a clean and well laid out restaurant, was more than adequate for us - buffet style as is the norm in this type of hotel. Overall, we are really enjoying our stay, not least for the opportunity to sit every evening on the terrace and enjoy a gorgeous view.

Was very anxious before coming to this hotel with all the negative reviews but I am here at the minute and it is beautiful very clean and staff very friendly I honestly don't know what people expect but if anyone is due to come to this hotel ,it's lovely

Hygiene was bad, I had lots of hairs in the room and I never got my towels changed. The mattress and sheets were extremely old / used and definitely need to be replaced. I could really use the A/C because it smelled intensely bad. The temperature in the room was fine, but I think the old fridge was the reason it got hot sometimes. When I arrived I got zero instructions to anything, not about the dinner or checkout and general useful information. This has never happened to me in a hotel. Key card didn’t work on the first day and I got blamed for it, because I apparently had held it too close to my phone which I had not. Walls are extremely thin and if you’re close to the lobby / bar you’ll hear everything. Didn’t really bother me, but could be a problem for light sleepers. The food, at dinner and the breakfast, was atrocious. Should be a crime to serve that type of food and call yourself a 4 star hotel. I’ve had better meals in Hostels and student accommodations in the past. I’m also someone with a low standard when it comes to hotels, but this one was just awful. It’s not cooked, everything is just heated and tasted artificial. Booking the dinner was a mistake, I ended up eating out most of the time anyway. The funniest thing was that the drinks aren’t included at dinner, but it’s no problem getting fresh water, orange or apple juice, tea and coffee at breakfast. It’s ridiculous. The pool is relatively small for the hotel of that size, but there’s not much you could do and the beach is 15 min away anyway. The sun-beds looked older than me though. The staff wasn’t rude, just a bit unprofessional and stressed for no reason. I think that they were sometimes overwhelmed with the communication. I’m never expecting people to speak English in a foreign country and I’m doing my best to learn a few words when I travel somewhere, but not being able to speak English as a hotel staffer (in a 4 star hotel) is really strange. If you don’t mind paying for a Hotel, but getting Hostel atmosphere, maybe this one is for you.
