Hotel Sun Palace Albir & Spa

This hotel is a little gem! I’ve been here for 3 nights half board. I arrived late and was welcomed by a friendly man on reception and when I got to my room, there was a salad, ham baguette with fruit waiting for me as I’d arrived at midnight. This was a nice touch for late checkin. Breakfast is good, with plenty of hot and cold choice, fruit, yoghurts, meats, continental style, juices, teas and coffee. Dinner is equally as good with plenty of choice, nicely cooked meats and other options. All good quality. I did the Spa Circuit, steam, sauna, pool, pressure pipes (very strong) and relaxing jacuzzi. I also had the 50 minute harmony full body massage and wow, one of the best I’ve had! The lady in the Spa is brilliant, friendly and welcoming. Staff in a he bar are really friendly and always serve you with a smile and positivity! Pool area is nice and sun beds are comfortable, and not overcrowded - it is October though so not sure about summer. The hotel has an overall quiet and calm vibe and was perfect for a half term relaxing break! The room is clean, bright, and the bed is super comfy. I had a good chat with the cleaner, who again, was a really happy, positive and fun lady! I booked direct on the website, and honestly, for what I paid, for half board, this has been a really nice few relaxing days! I have nothing negative to say!

The hotel is situated up a steep hill which we already were aware of but not great for anyone with disabilities to reach without driving. On arrival frontage of hotel clean and welcoming as is the reception area. Hotel staff very good, polite and welcoming with plenty of information and made check in easier than it already was. Hotel it’s self is tired and in need of refreshment through out, decor looking shabby and as advertised as 4 star in reality is a 3 star at best. Rooms are spacious and the bed is possibly the best most comfortable hotel bed ever slept in, again decor tired, bath rooms spacious and clean but cracked floor tiles which are lose allowing movement of small pieces of tile. Our room over looked the pool area and across Albir towards Benidorm so loverly views. Table and chairs on balcony but again looking at facade of rooms opposite all needs a lick of paint. Electronic safe if room which is an excellent choice, flat screen tv with very limited access to English channels mainly Spanish or Scandinavian but only used as background noise while changing in evening. Air con also very good and fridge worked. Rooms cleaned daily to a good standard again cannot fault staff. Only thing missing from room was a kettle with complementary tea and coffee making facilities which having stayed in lesser star hotels is always welcoming and a god send in morning when getting up rather than having to wait until breakfast for a drink. The Spar was used and for the facial booked was good value for money and again staff excellent and professional. Dinning room adequate and as we only had breakfast booked food was ok with a few choices of hot or cold. No individual yogurt just two large bowls allowing all to breath over but fruit plenty full available. Down side at night with other guests coming home 1-2am allowing doors to slam several times every night, accessing the pool at 2am laughing and splashing around and not being dealt with by the hotel staff. Same with door slamming guests have to walk past reception to access corridors to room so easily identified who is doing this also there are cctv cameras but this happens nightly. Overall staff excellent and helpful smartly dressed in uniform but hotel desperate for an overhaul and refurbishment before it at best becomes a 2 star due to it’s tiredness and perhaps reviewing how it deals with noise issues at night and definitely addressing access to pool areas and dealing with anyone that accesses in middle of the night. Would we stay here again is yes after a refurbishment as location is ideal for all areas of Albir.

I was travelling alone. My phone died and i couldnt do a online reservation. Luckily the hotel had a room for me. I experienced a very good service at the desk both on arrival and when i left. They helped me with transport for me to the airport at 4:30 in the morning. All the staff is polite and helpful, both at the bar and in the restaurant. If there is a thing to be better, the red wine in restaurant should not be so cold. Tips to other visitors, if you want to have spa-treatments, order at arrival. This hotel, I definetly will visit again, thank you for giving me such a good visit to Albir.

Overall the hotel was clean of a good standard, very valuable for money although the price is an honest reflection of what you get. The pool area is great, a little dated but overall a relaxing experience. We only had breakfast but it was good quality buffet food from all ranges and choices changing by day. Staff from the hotel are extremely helpful and bar staff were friendly. The location is a little suburban and surrounding a local area, the hill is a little tedious but very manageable (even for me at 7 months pregnant) and they offer shuttles, food delivery and alot of help with mobilising in Albir. The spa is classed as a separate company/facility to the hotel and the biggest disappointment we experienced was that we intentionally booked this hotel for the spa facilities hoping to book a few treatments and swim in the indoor pool area, on our first day we eagerly queued to book a massage and a day in the spa, a couple in front of us seemed to experience a language barrier between the spa receptionist and they ended up not booking anything, they were German so we could not converse what was really going on. Then when we attempted to book a massage each we had the same problem, although we attempted more than 3 times by using a translator app,pointing to what we would like and also asking for another person's help, the person on the reception could not understand and was confused at our request, after a few attempts we had to cancel our request as it wasn't what we had requested. This was disappointing as we were so eager to book treatments and put money aside, we had around €300 of treatments planned that we didn't end up booking because of the language and communication barrier. I did attempt to book this again the day after but this was met with more confusion and misunderstanding. We tried to stay respectful of the staff and didn't want to cause a fuss but it didn't seem to just be us with this problem. The staff at the hotel communicated extremely well with all our needs but the staff at the spa was disappointment for our babymoon. Overall a nice experience, good value and lovely relaxing few days as a couple 💗 Albir area is absolutely lovely and peaceful at all times for a relaxing holiday.

We are at this hotel at the moment. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The room we have overlooks the pool and it is clean and tidy with air conditioning, but the bathroom in particular is rather dated with the usual spots of mould at the base of the shower screen. We were very disappointed to discover there are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room and, if we want to bring a coffee up to our room it has to be in a plastic beaker. We were not allowed to bring the ceramic cups up from the restaurant or the bar. We are happy to use the bar etc to buy the coffees and other drinks when we go down to the entertainment but when wanting to sit out and chill on our balcony, reading a book maybe, it would be nice to have the option of making a coffee or tea to enjoy there. There is a lot of choice for breakfast, hot and cold and the dining area is very nice, again with really lovely staff. We can't comment on lunch and dinner as we do not have those here. The hotel is a fifteen/twenty minute walk from the beachfront, downhill. However, If the walk back is too much, a taxi is only around €7. You can pre book a shuttle with the hotel but this has to be a set time and is €10. It is very pretty at the beachfront with cafes and shops. There are sunbeds for hire, with or without parasols around €7. However the beach is all pebbles which makes getting out the sea a bit tricky! Definitely no sandcastle building here!
