Mercure Benidorm

Not the experience we had hoped for. Room not ready when we checked in- looked like it had been half done, hair on shower tiles and dust. Booked for my birthday and had Prosecco in a box- would have been nice if they’d given us some Prosecco glasses too, small detail but low effort and would have made a difference. Had to call reception as air con wasn’t working , after a bit of back and forth was told it hadn’t been turned on by maintenance- kind of makes sense as someone else’s name was on the welcome screen when we checked in. Room small and worn - breakfast was a shambles- people having to clear their own plates, no cutlery/glasses - we had to try to find a member of staff- odd as they had a ‘host’ taking room numbers at the front but she was just ushering people into a full restaurant- not communicating with staff/forming a queue system. People were having to sit at the bar and the mess was awful- they were clearly understaffed. Wouldn’t stay here again, felt very basic for the price.

Great hotel with lovely clean rooms, staff are very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was really good quality food and overall the hotel is very good value for money. The best bit of the hotel however is the pool area it is beautiful a really relaxing oasis of green in middle of benidorm. This is the second time have stayed this year.

Excellent hotel great location close to the beach and bars and restaurants A short stroll from the wonderful old town Excellent staff and facilities from reception to housekeeping Highly recommended for all guests

We’ve been in this hotel for nearly an week and loved it! It was so peaceful and quiet. 10 minutes away from the old town and strip so it doesn’t take long to get there at all. The facilities are wonderful and the staff are so welcoming. Only downside is a large group arrived over the past few days and since then the calming music that was round the pool has been changed to very loud party music which makes relaxing very difficult. This can be heard at an extreme volume even in the hotel room. This group has been allowed to yell and shout, disturbing guests who just wanted to chill out. We’ve even had a few strangers come over to us and complain about the same group. It’s just a shame that one group can change the hotel drastically. The hotel was so calm and tranquil a few days ago and it’s now just loud and hectic just for one group. It’s such a shame as we thought we found the perfect hotel in Benidorm.

First visit to Mercure Benidorm, unlikely to be last. The staff are the key; they were all friendly and helpful all the time. From welcoming us with a smile at 6.30am after a 12-hour flight delay, to fixing a leaky toilet within 30 minutes, to helping us with airport transfers, to enabling a move to a room with terrace - they were lovely. Hotel is in a great location, a short stroll to Old Town and Poniente Beach and an easy walk to “the strip”, other beaches and the Tram station for a day trip to Alicante. Lots of bars and restaurants close by to choose from to eat Tapas, “see the sights” or just sit and watch world go by in the sun. Rooms and communal areas were always very clean. Buffet breakfast had plenty of choice with tables inside and out. Pool seemed fine with loungers mostly in shade but if full sun is your thing 5 miles of sand and sea at the end of the street. Only downside (totally out of hotel control) was the seriously noisy road works in the next street. The pile driver started at 8am – our cue to get up and out to enjoy the sunshine. Don't let the noise put you off!
