Mondrian Ibiza

AMAZING HOTEL!! Absolutely loved our stay at the Mondrian Hotel! Yes, it is a solid 20 min ride to town but the hotel called a taxi for us each night and wasn't an issue.. about 25 Euros each way but for the hotel it was well worth it! Chic, clean, luxury, etc. Even offer concierge babysitting service that you can book in advance which was super great to have as an option! Beach just footsteps away with a local supermarket at the corner, would for sure book again and recommend to family & friends!

We were really looking forward to our stay, but unfortunately 3 days in to our weeks stay and we have been very underwhelmed by the hotel and, in particular, some of the service and facilities. On arrival, I was asked for a credit card for pre-authorisation, which is completely normal. However, I have subsequently noticed that over €950 has actually been charged to my card. Breakfast is adequate, with four warm options including eggs, bacon and sausage. The menu choices are quite limited. The omelette was okay, but the avocado and tomato on toast is also available from the buffet, so I’m not really sure why this is a menu option. For a hotel catering for families, I was surprised not to see more child-friendly options such as pancakes or French toast with fruit. We booked a one-bedroom suite, which is clean and spacious, but it is looking quite tired and has various rough edges that you wouldn’t expect from a 5-star property. Unfortunately, our view was dreadful. We weren’t given the option to choose a sea view when booking, so if this is important to you, I would definitely check what view you are actually getting before booking. Our view consisted largely of dirt, trees and a derelict construction area. The pool areas have also been disappointing. They look grubby and really need sweeping and washing down daily. Rubbish has been left around the pool area for days. The beds themselves are comfortable, but there doesn’t seem to be much policing of which guests are actually using the Mondrian pool. On our first day, by lunchtime there wasn’t a single sunbed available. Our only option was to pay €170 for a minimum-spend bed, which isn’t ideal when you are travelling with two children. What disappointed me most was that not one member of staff seemed particularly concerned or interested in helping. There was also an issue with service later that day. I asked whether someone could check at around 4pm whether our room was ready. I was told this couldn’t be done and that I would have to go to reception myself. I subsequently saw another couple have this done for them without any issue. With two children and all our belongings, having to pack everything up and walk to reception ourselves didn’t feel like the level of service I would expect from a 5-star hotel. The hotel’s own rules around sunbeds also don’t seem to be enforced. Towels are left on beds for hours without anyone appearing to remove them. Pool food is average. The children’s burger is essentially a small slider with around 12 chips. Service around the pool is okay. There is an adults-only sundeck, which is actually a lovely sunny area, but during our stay it was empty around 90% of the time. It seems strange that this space couldn’t be better utilised when families are struggling to find somewhere to sit around the main pool. The beach also comes at an additional cost, with sunbeds charged at €30 each. We booked through Jet2, so this isn’t necessarily the hotel’s responsibility, but the holiday description stated that there were four pools. What wasn’t made clear to us that access to the different pools is shared with the hotel next door, which was disappointing and made the description feel somewhat misleading. Smoking around the pool is another issue worth mentioning. People were smoking around the pool area without using ashtrays, with cigarette ash being flicked over balconies and left all over the floor. We also saw cigarette butts on the floor around the pool, in the pool eating area and around the outside lounge area. This really needs to be addressed, particularly in areas being used by families and children, and is another example of the general lack of cleanliness and attention to detail. At the moment, the biggest disappointment is that the hotel simply doesn’t feel particularly well managed or maintained. I really wanted to like this hotel, but unfortunately, based on our experience so far, I wouldn’t rush back nor recommend.

My friends and I stayed at the Mondrian and although we did enjoy ourselves, we wouldn't return due to the following issues. The Mondrian promises a 5 star experience yet the reality is much less than this. I've never stayed at a 5 star hotel where they expect you to pay €30 for a sunbed on the beach, they ask for a minimum spend to use a sunbed at the shared pool (with another hotel)?? It felt like they were just trying to take money at any opportunity. Even room service had a minimum fee? They charge €7 for a small bottle of water?? The positives were the breakfast service and the staff were friendly. But sadly we won't be returning for the above reasons.

Booked a drive from airport to hotel directly with hotel. When arrived found the porter outside he welcomed me. Went in, checked in asked about my luggage the person on reception said she has no clue where my bags are. Went to storage and didn’t find it. Ran outside to check and yeah the luggage was left alone outside hotel. Porter didn’t bother to bring it in. Upon entering the lobby a bad smell (sweat) hits you. Went to my room to discover a new smell (vomit) i don’t think the room was fully ready for me. I suspect that the former guest vomited on the floor and they didn’t clean well. There were hairs on the floor in bathroom and bedroom. Asked to clean it up and they did immediately. There was no bathrobe in room i asked for one but left after one week without getting it. Went to the beach to find that no service there. You have to walk to restaurant to get water. And the sea was extremely dirty! Tried the pool not inviting and definately not a five stars standard! Tried restaurant around pool ordered greek salad the feta wasn’t good (old and smelly). The lifts doors are very dirty from the inside. No spa. The only place where you can do massage is around the pool outdoor. For the price that you pay (not cheap) you won’t get what you are looking for. Not luxurious at all. Positive: breakfast is rich i found gluten free choices and service was good. Guest relation is good they answer phones and tryto help. A No for me!

In 20 yrs of going to Ibiza, I checked out Mondrian Hotel for the first time. I felt compelled to write a tripadvisor review for the first time as it was incredibly awful. For over 1k a night, what I experienced below was so bad it was comical, needless to say will never be returning to this property: 1. I complained multiple times over the phone and wassap that loud banging noises were waking me up at 6am for 2 nights in a row. Normal hotels, even a zero star motel, would simply offer to move rooms instead of ignoring the feedback and stating there was no reason for the noise and no one else was complaining. I physically went outside to see where my room was located and it was right below the restaurant or lobby of the hotel (obviously the hotel is constructed so poorly to cut costs with no soundproofing that when the staff rightly so would clean at 6am, I could hear the vacuums, furniture being moved around, people walking around etc). To resolve the issue, when I specifically asked to move rooms after the second night of poor sleep (as there were loads of other rooms available on line), or to even check out so I could move hotels, there was zero response. 2. Consistent theme of cutting costs…with their beds. Made of cheap material where back aches after. 3. Had to request a robe as no robes in room. Never showed up. 4. Had to request cotton ear buds as none in room. Reception said it’s now illegal to provide them in the rooms but would do me a favour by bringing me some up… of course never showed up. 5. Housekeeping decided to throw out my shoe bags. When packing to go home, I had to put my dirty shoes directly into my luggage. 6. Beach is not as shown in photos. It’s like 2/10 normal Ibiza beach (they advertise as if similar to Formentera waters). 7. Not only do they charge you 30 euros for subs beds, but they told me they were sold out on first day and I was on a wait list. My friend called an hour after and got one instead. 8. Room itself is 3 star room… not Four Seasons standard 5 star with quality furniture, cleanliness, etc. 9. Upon check out, one of the breakfast items didn’t include the discount that I was due to receive. When questioned, she said the system hadn’t updated yet as it was earlier in the day (what?!). Only positive was the staff who were very friendly and offered to help in person, but obviously with no execution.
