Exe Portals Nous

Just returned from a great week in this lovely hotel. Had a room on the 4th floor with a view to the sea from the balcony. Room fairly small but nice and modern and very clean. Bathroom is definitely small and only small shelf under the sink to put toiletries on but not an issue. Room could do with more storage space but again not a big issue. The water in the fridge is free on your 1st night and you can refill bottles at breakfast time from the machine in the restaurant. Balcony has a slope to it, mainly because the hotel is on a hill. Sun was on our balcony from around 2pm for the rest of the day. As it was very hot while we were there we tended to sit on the balcony before the sun hit it, which suited us. As someone mentioned previously, there are very few umbrellas around the pool and think they do need to provide a lot more of them as they don't have any shaded areas with sunbeds. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Ate at the bar/restaurant a few times, fairly small menu but everything we had was good. All the staff that we came in contact with were lovely. Reception, breakfast staff, bar staff, cleaners etc were so friendly and helpful. Special mention of Maryna (hope I spelt it correctly! ) who never stopped smiling when serving food and drinks, despite being run off her feet and still took time to speak to the guests, an absolute star! We had our usual issue with pillows (1 too low, 2 too high 😂) and wanted the quilt taken away as didn't need it. Reception and housekeeping staff went out of their way to try and get things right for us, so well done them! Not many people around later in the evening and the bar closes at 10pm so not the hotel for you if you like to party until the wee small hours! 😂 Hotel is on a hill but less than 5 minute walk to the bus stop for Palma or cross over the road for the stop to Palma Nova. Palma bus is every 45/50 minutes and takes about 25 minutes and run until around 11pm. So easy and much cheaper to use a card on the bus. Tap your currency card on the machine beside the driver once for each person (you can use the same card for up to 5 people) and then tap it only once on the way off the bus. Within the next couple of days the money will come off your card. Portals Nous is hilly but there are quite a few restaurants on the road that the bus stops are. The rest are down at the marina which is 25 minutes walk from the hotel approximately. We did the walk down a few times but got a taxi back (approximately 6 euros including a tip).

We had an incredibly disappointing stay at this hotel and felt completely let down by the way management handled our complaint. Upon arrival, the room was dirty, the pillows smelled of damp, and we later discovered filthy bedsheets and a dangerously loose plug socket. We were moved to another room, but the situation only got worse. My mum woke up covered in severe, itchy bites in clusters and straight lines—classic signs of bed bugs. We also found a cockroach crawling on the floor. We reported this immediately and checked out a night early, having to pay for another hotel ourselves. Despite providing photo evidence, the hotel refused to take proper responsibility, relying solely on a delayed pest control inspection done after we had left (which could mean anything). Their response was dismissive and offered only a partial refund and a discount for a future stay — which we obviously declined. The conditions were unacceptable, and the handling of our complaint was even worse. If you value hygiene, safety, and being treated with basic respect, I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel

We had a lovely stay at the hotel EXE. We were able to check in right away which is a bonus. Room was comfortable and large enough for us (room 414) with a small but perfectly adequate balcony with a side sea view. Bathroom very nice with a large shower and useful shelf under the sink for all your toiletries. There is ample room in the reset next to mini bar to store 2 x large cases and plenty of hangers for our clothes. Breakfast was great, machine coffee not so good. You can buy food throughout the day but we tended to eat out. Can recommend Chamelis, turn left out of hotel, to end of road then left at main road and you will find lots of cafes and bars and restaurants as well as a large supermarket within a 5 minute walk uphill. Beach quite small, if you like the beach get the bus/taxi to the Port where there is a much larger beach. Marina worth a visit but we found it quite pricey. It is very hilly so be aware of this if you are not going to use buses and taxis. It was very hot when we were here and only a few umbrellas around the pool which were usually reserved with towels very early in the day. Finally special mention of Sandra who was a wonderful staff member, always with the smile.

We have stayed here for 5 nights and had a very positive experience overall. On arrival we were given our room early, it was always very clean, two single beds pushed together but they had brakes. Linen was changed on our request by leaving the card on the pillow as advised, pool towels provided and changed every 3 days. Cleaner came to the room daily. I am a coeliac and confirmed before arrival by email that they could cater for me at breakfast. Everyday there was a gluten free roll, either lemon cake or a brownie or a coconut macaroon. These were all individually wrapped. It was evident they were frozen and defrosted on my request as sometimes the packaging was still icy but quite enjoyed them warm and took whatever I didn’t eat for a snack later that day. There was lots of fruit/tea/coffee and gluten-containing breakfast available. We had some issues in the room such as a faulty shower door or ants, these were resolved ASAP by maintainence, management were extremely apologetic regarding this and went above and beyond to improve our experience. The pool is not heated but very clean and well maintained with lots of sunbed options. It is a very steep walk into the Mariana but we did attempt this or get taxis. Nothing within comfortable walking distance. We did get the bus into Palma city and to/from the airport with no issues the bus stop is a 3 min walk from the hotel. We used the gym once which is basic - treadmill, cross trainer, bike, dumbbells and mats available. It was clean with A/c. We would return to this hotel in the future.

It’s hard to summarise, the hotel is modern, in a nice location and generally the staff are great. However, the hotel management seem to think it is acceptable to close the bar and restaurant at 9 or 10pm. It’s madness when you have guests arriving at all hours and the hotel is nowhere near anything else. On the evening of 11th June we saw two guests who had just arrived be refused service one minute after 10pm. The waiter is just following management direction but was curt and rude. We also asked for some more drinks and were told it was closed. Why? Who in their right mind would close a hotel bar at 10pm! Utterly mad. We eventually got our drinks after the lovely lady on reception intervened but after that at least 12 more guests came in and we refused service. This is a great hotel but the appalling management policies will kill this hotel. If you run a hotel you have to provide hotel services, this hotel is being l run like a hostel where restrictions are placed on basic hotel services that should rightly be expected.
