Globales Cala Blanca

This is a long review, but an honest one. Please stick with it. This was our 4th visit to Hotel Cala Blanca. We stayed for 10 nights. Transfer: Our transfer into the hotel was 1 hour 20 minutes. Arrival: We arrived late and were offered cold snacks in the restaurant which was good. The Staff: The staff are for the most part amazing. Reception staff are helpful and bilingual. Cannot fault any of them. Room: Our room was on the third floor above the restaurant. The room as usual was spacious, with a huge bed and ample storage space. Enough plug sockets including one in the bathroom. There is a tv which we didn’t use. The aircon wasn’t great. We left it on with the balcony door closed along with the curtains but it barely made any difference. The cleaners came in an every other day but our sheets weren’t changed once. They did clean everything else to a very high standard. The bathroom itself had a bath and a powerful shower which was great. Towels provided and the shower gel provided we found really good. The only slight problem is that there is no window or air vent so it was always difficult to lose that damp smell and feeling. We liked the room it was certainly big enough for the two of us. The biggest problem was that some staff arrived very early in the morning and did make noise outside the staff entrance along with early morning deliveries. The Restaurant: The restaurant is starting to look tired. There are four different kinds of chairs used which looks odd and there are too many tables. The three tables in front of the salad need removing so that people can move about easier. The staff there are mostly fantastic. The maitre d is great. Tables cleared quickly and relaid quickly. It’s busy at times and can feel overcrowded. Food: We found the food great. You are never going to go hungry. Plenty to choose from and the standard was very good, the soups especially good. The Bar: The staff are amazing. Drinks served quickly using a token or cup return method that works. The bar and leisure area itself has plenty of comfortable seats and tables and you can see the stage from wherever you sit. The problem here is that it is running alive with flies. There are everywhere all the time. A couple of the things they use in supermarkets could well solve this problem in one go. The decking outside is good. Tables and chairs and rattan style sofas are plentiful. The decking itself needs replacing. Pool : The pool itself is medium sized. It’s warm and deep enough at one end. It has a disabled lift. It’s a really nice pool. The problem here is that at times there were too many inflatables in it which made it too crowded. We’ve been in pools twice the size which ban large inflatables and that needs to happen here. There is also a small shallower pool. Pool area: The area around the pool is mostly paved with plenty of sunbeds. Some people did put towels out early but there were always beds available at any time of day. There was music played, but not at all loud and intrusive. There is a grassed area slightly away from the pool. This area can get popular. Sadly this area was in bad condition when we were there. A lot of the grass had worn away and the hotel set sprinklers off every morning which basically watered bare earth which made it muddy. It’s an area we like to sit and in the past it has been comfortable, but this time before the mud dried it was dirty and sfter it was dusty. It needs seeding after the season ends. The sunbeds haven’t been replaced in the four years we’ve been going and are very very uncomfortable. You need to lay a towel or pillow underneath yourself to stop the bar from digging into you. They need replacing. Although some parasols have been replaced the majority are old and tatty. The older ones all need replacing. Animation: There are lots of less strenuous activities to do during the day. Darts, archery, boules and lots more all overseen by the two brilliant animation girls. Where they get the energy I’ve no idea ! They also organise bingo every evening in the bar at 9pm before the caberet. Incident and Lifeguard : While we were there, sadly a woman slipped in the pool area and fell face down. She was totally unconscious for a number of minutes. Her friends had put her in the recovery position, but the lifeguard came over and tried to pick her up while she was unconscious. This immediately showed that the lifeguard had absolutely no first aid training whatsoever. People screamed at him to leave her but his English was so poor he didn’t seem to understand at all. A lifeguard with no first aid training ? He needs replacing. (The lady that fell spent a couple of nights in hospital, but had somewhat recovered by the time we left ) The surrounding area: Cala Blanca is a small area. There aren’t many shops about, but there is one right outside the hotel which will have anything you need. The cove about 300 yards away is fantastic to look at and swim in. The water is buoyant and feels safe. There are a few restaurants along side the cove. There is a bus stop outside the hotel that will take you to Cuitadella. General: The whole hotel is beginning to look a bit run down. It needs some love in certain places. Sunbeds, parasols, restaurant chairs all need replacing and the grass area needs urgent attention. The staff are amazing. The hotel is cleaned to within an inch of its life 24/7. It’s spotless. It’s a very adult orientated hotel with few young people which suits us as we like a quite relaxing holiday. Overall we had a great 10 nights. Woukd we return ? Yes we would and almost certainly will next year.

Have just come back from a week at this hotel , we had a lovely time rooms are what you would expect for an older hotel fine , overall hotel environent really nice , dining room nice , pool area again what you would expect at the budget end of hotels , staff were lovely everywhere dont get the negative reviews ?? I thought the food was very good every day freshly cooked and allways plenty of varied choice , drinks were very good especially the san miguel beer , evening entertainment standard stuff , the hotel was allways spotlessly clean , as i said earlier this is a hotel at the budget end of price point , if you want oppulence then pay more and go 5 star , for a 4 star it ticks all the required boxes for us , and we would return , if i had one criticism i think there should be basic ice creams included all day in all inclusive for kids everywhere else we go this is standard , thanks all you great staff for a lovely holiday

I have to start this review by stating that I don’t understand the shear amount of damning reviews this hotel receives. However, it is clear that the 4* rating was some time ago and perhaps this is what guests are struggling with. The hotel was very clean throughout and staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful across all the areas. The entertainment team go above and beyond and the reception team were fantastic. It is clear the staff want guests to enjoy their time and they always meet that expectation. My mother had her birthday whilst we were staying here and I requested a bottle of cava to be delivered to her room which it was a as a lovely note - no trouble at all! However, the hotel is in need of some investment from Globales (the owner/ operator). The bar decking needs replacing and the building needs a facelift to maintain the standard expected of a 4* in today’s tourism climate. Rooms are of an acceptable quality for a 3-4* in Spain but air con was not very effective and I would have expected the safety deposit box to be free in a 4*. The food in the restaurant was good - lots of choice and many dishes were very tasty and of good quality. Those who complain of the all-inclusive drinks must either be alcohol snobs or connoisseurs as the draft beer is San Miguel and wines on offer are of a very decent quality, not to mention the constant cava availability. Overall, and considering the price we paid through TUI, I would say that this hotel offers value for money for those looking for a holiday where all costs are covered. Seemed popular with young families, young couples and the kids loved the pool in the day.

Hotel is clean and in a good location, 5 min walk to Cala Blanca beach and a bus stop right outside of the hotel. Our room was comfortable, decent size bathroom and good, quiet air con. Maids came in daily. The all inclusive buffet food is very good, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lots of fish options over the week, delicious sole was standout. The all inclusive drinks however, are awful. Soft drinks are flat with little to no gas. The white wine and the few cocktails on offer, all very poor. The draft beer is fine. Then there’s the annoying issue of having to hand in tokens for drinks in the daytime. Also you can only order 2 drinks at a time. Pool doesn’t open until 10am so not great if you have eager young children. Sun-beds are uncomfortable and the umbrellas old and tired. The pool and layout of sun-beds feels cramped but they do the best with the small space available. Hotel doesn’t feel like 4 star - except for the food. Would I stay again, no.

After reading some of the reviews regarding the food I feel compelled to leave a review saying how great I thought the restaurant was. First of all, I guess we all have different tastes and you can’t please everyone! I personally thought there was so much choice with lots of nutritious and healthy options available each day including fresh fish, salad and veg. My favourite was the roast dinner, followed by the Mexican evening. It was so good I went and thanked the chefs. Likewise breakfast was great. Yes the snack station was limited but we were so full from breakfast and lunch we didn’t need to use it. When booking we asked for a relaxed and quiet hotel and that’s exactly what we got so we were very happy. Lots of entertainment but never in your face and no music and party tunes blasting by the pool either which is a plus. I don’t drink alcohol so the beverage options were fine for me. Plenty of sun beds which is great. Rooms always sparkly clean and beds made up daily. Only feedback is air con could be better (but it didn’t stop me sleeping) and I would have expected the safe to be free to use. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
